Plane 1 - 9/11/2001 + 2013 360 Footage - Same Location

- 20 years ago today, while getting ready for another day in high school, my mom called me downstairs - Katie Couric just announced a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. Everyone was confused, but the 2nd plane made it clear that the USA was under attack.
On many 9/11 anniversaries, I find myself watching documentaries or old new reels --- it helps me remember the lives lost and the feeling of living in a UNITED States.
A decade later, I was producing immersive experiences and on one of my first business trips to NYC, I experimented with a new gadget - Samsung’s Gear 360 camera.
EXPERIMENT:
On September 11, 2001, Jules and Thomas Naudet - French documentarians - were in NYC filming a documentary on members of the Engine 7, Ladder 1 firehouse in Lower Manhattan. Jules captures the only clear footage of the first jet, American Airlines Flight 11, hitting the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
After reviewing Naudet’s footage, I was able to determine correct intersection and crosswalk to place my 360 camera. My goal was to superimpose Naudet’s footage on modern day NYC.
However, every time I tried to complete this project, it just didn’t feel like the right time. Maybe it will never be the right time.
In the meantime, here is the only 360-degree edit ever completed.
Never forget. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
that firefighter at the start of the video passed away but i forgot his name, rest in peace to all the victims of 9/11

@@xjchcjd34I listened the same, but not sure. The one on the left

Please correct your grammar before the 8 year olds say "they really are resting in PIECES"
It's rest in peace.
@@tails20342 oh i didnt see that, thanks for pointing it out
I visited that corner back on the 10th anniversary in 2011. It now has historical significance; the video captured the start of the worst terrorist attack in history.
What corner is this?
@@orangechickengorl Lispenard/Church street cross road a few blocks north o the trade center, it's where Jules and the firefighter company he was filming caught flight 11 roar past amd hit the tower.

Interesting
New York itself is a massive museum
Never tought they would be a 360 version
i'm very surprised that storm drain isn't a historic landmark now
And that’s how it changed New York
Very interesting video, good job though.
