This CD contains the complete works for two pianos by Sergei Rachmaninoff, substantial and impressive works, expertly and originally written in virtuoso style (as one would expect from one of the greatest pianists of the 20th Century), music of great imagination, poetry and passion. Nikolai Petrov and Alexander Ghindin have been playing together since the year 2000 - until the untimely death of Petrov in 2011. Both have their roots in the great Russian Piano School, Petrov a pupil of Yakov Zak and Ghindin of Michael Voskresensky from the school of Lev Oborin. They played numerous concerts, and their unity is truly astonishing, they sound like one giant breathing Russian soul…

oh, how I love the way they begin the first suite in a much poised tempo which allows every chord between the two pianos to be tastefully savored and carried out with even the last note of previous bar is considered in their chordal soundplans. compared to some piano celebrities' morbidly fast rendtion, this is a more sanguine and beautiful one, and not without musical reasonability but warrants for rightful sentimentality.

Музыка Сергея Васильевича Рахманинова многослойна, как человеческая душа, она открывается с каждым новым мгновением разными красками, опускает в самые глубины и воспаряет в небеса. Спасибо Богу за Великого Русского композитора, пианиста, гения!!! И , конечно, неподражаемое, фантастическое исполнение великих пианистов!!!

Нет Вечности для нас...только Чёрная Пустота и потеря памяти в конце жизни.
Но перед этим я успел дорасти до понимания и сопереживания с потрясающим миром музыкальной фантазии Рахманинова .
Впервые вижу на экране эту впечатляющую картину,напоминающую "Садко в подводном царстве".Она гармонирует с музыкой.
