We Hit ADVENT With A Baseball Bat

- ADVENT is "designed to survive," so we tested to see whether it could survive getting hit with a baseball bat. SPOILER: it still kind of worked. And with some good old fashioned manual bending, we got it to work more or less normally. Watch the video to find out what was more damaged, the bat or the derailleur.

Absolute chads. Making amazing products and backing them up with videos like this. I love my Advent 9 speed. My brother has Advent X 10 speed on his bike.
I've used my Advent X since May 2020. Zero issues and almost no maintenance needed. Amazing!
a rock carrying a baseball bat
Very impressive . You guys at microshift got my support ❤
Cool video. I bent mine a huge stick riding up a hill & jammed itself into the derailleur was total fluke lol but I installed new 1 but kept all spare parts is almost bombproof design & super dependable drivetrain!!
Takes a lickin and keeps on clicking! 🤘🏻
Hey that's not bad
@@microSHIFTTECH I wish I could take full credit on that one. It’s a repurposed old Timex watch slogan from the 1960’s commercials. 😉👍🏻
(It takes a licking and keeps on ticking.)
this guy's too good at hockey
Impressive :)
I have Advent (rd+shifter), very strong rd. but my shifter was broken. it's hard to find a replacement. I tried to pair it with sora/alivio & sram x5 and it didn't work. the pull ratio or actuation might be different from shimano/sram's.
It's definitely different. IIRC someone tested it and found about a 1:1.1 ratio. SRAM is pretty close but apparently not close enough.
@@here-be-ember got it, thank you! that's why it didn't work with 1:1 or 1:2.
alright, my next derailleur will be a Microshift advent.
@microSHIFTTECH Will a FH-RS400 rear hubs work on advent x cassette?
Yes!
Neat video, but was the trail test *really* the same derailleur after hitting it with the bat? Couldn't help but notice the clutch switch magically reappear.
Yeah, it was the same derailleur, just put the switch back on. If you look closely you can still see some of the bat wood embedded in the clutch cover screw.
@@microSHIFTTECH you guys have way too much fun 👍🏻😁
I will not try that with my 12 speed AXS, nor with my AdventX, but at least I know which one I could afford to replace if the experiment failed.
Is the derailleur hanger that was bent or the derailleur
Both!
Someone knows if It is possible to run an advent 9 speed rear derraileur with 9 speed shimano shifter ?
They are not compatible. Shimano doesn't make a 9 speed shifter that pulls enough cable for ADVENT's wide range derailleur.
@@microSHIFTTECH thank you for the reply! Here in argentina is really hard to find the 9s shifter.
i can verify this response from microshift, i have the advent x 9 speed, i would say none of the rapid fire shifters from shimano but i think there are a few shifters that do have the right shift for them, honestly thou go with there own shifter its very good, and jaun, i have tried both shimanos and microshift, if you like quick gear changes go shimano, if you like controlled shifts, microshift.
Can you make videos on your road drivetrains? 😁😁😁😁
Be patient, we're working on it!
Do I hit with bat before every ride? My wife is at store getting us the bat
There are a lot of factors to consider. With a 33" uncorked wooden bat, I would hit it every third ride unless you're using a UDH in which case I would hit it every other ride.
Watch out Shimano
What happened at the end? 😂
😲
Pointless and silly.
That's fair
I guess I’m crazy in thinking that receiving a hit equal to that from a baseball bat and being bent back into workable condition on the spot was the point 🤷🏻♂️
