- Fire alarm test 59
Hope you guys enjoy!!! This is part one of a 2 part series of tests at a retirement home in my area. This building is the largest of the two with 4 floors and a massive Siemens MXL fire alarm system installed. You also get to see some elevator recall testing.

Idk why the intro animation is slightly delayed from the audio. Hopefully its not too noticeable

@@STR2K6 well it happens but what about the siemens faraday panel which it is having problems?

BRO WHAAT? 💀
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Gotta love those pull stations which take awhile to reset.
Ah this reminds me of a retirement facility I used to inspect when I was a tech. This place was OLD. It had a Cerberus Pyrotronics PXL in one section of the building and a giant Silent Knight voice evac system in the “tower” section of the building. The building’s history goes back so far and there’s a lot of unused rooms which give it an abandoned building feel. Was always so fun to inspect it and the elevator shafts were awesome. Great video! Well done for documenting while doing the inspection!
Siemens!! One of my favorite brands. I miss the Faraday Siemens / Cerberus Pyrotronics era of Siemens. Love the MXL systems, just hate how proprietary Siemens is. Makes it hard for collectors and enthusiasts to use them if we ain't techs for them lol.
Compressed air should help with preventing smoke detectors to re alarm.
That one at the start seemed high pitched, interesting!
it was likely a UMHU that replaced a former UMMT
They all seem to be umhus
Siemens U-MHU-MCS in a retirement facility, I believe it was a very loud system since the U-MHU-MCS can literally blow your ears out.
Tell that to the high school I attended...
Those strobes look bright. I'm assuming 75 or 110 candela.
great video really seeing these tests plus i've been looking for someone testing a Siemens MXL and i finally found one
Oh shit, is that a white UMMT? That's so rare
UMHU*
Wait for 10:15 to hear the U-MHUs.
One comment and a couple questions:
1. I've seen T-handled hex keys (in fact, my dad has a few) which might be easier to reset these pull stations with! Probably would be easier to one-hand, too.
2. 8:37 Are the UMMT and UMHU-series alarms rated for ceiling use? I seem to recall that the SpectrAlert Advance could do that, maybe these can too. I haven't seen any ceiling mount Faraday/Siemens N/As so it may not be far-fetched that they designed the same device to work on both walls and ceilings.
3. Most prominently around 11:15 I hear a sync issue. Are these sections on different NAC's? I'm wondering if the Siemens sync protocol doesn't work between NAC's because I heard this same problem at one of my schools, despite the panel there being an XLS and the two NACs in question being entirely Siemens-rebranded Wheelock equipment (other with mechanical horns were presumably covered under different NACs). You'd hear two areas syncing internally, but one area was sounding at different times than the other.
You can make alarm horns in a Function Generator app. I replicated the SpectrAlert Advance, L-Series and the Wheelock NS, ZNS, HSR and horns alike.
Mark’s retirement home
Mark tulay?
My elementary school had these fire alarms
I like Siemens Systems.
What was plugged in below the pull station by the panel when you started the audible test?
Should all fire alarms be at 120db at 80 ft or is that not necessary?
The pull stations are really inconvenient for maintenance purposes. 😅
we have those alarms that are school
how terrible are the mxl panels?
Why the hell is the panel date on march if the video was posted on April?
There’s this crazy concept of recording a video then waiting a bit to upload it. I know its mind blowing
@@FourtyFiftyEighty yep
Those horn strobes seem unsynchronized.
And also not the right type of NAs for a retirement community should have gone with LF horn strobes.
@@GaryBeltzthe system is 30 years old. Low frequency was not available at the time.
8:30 Why are there two annunciators?
actually there's 3 annunciators. Its a big building
@@FourtyFiftyEightyI was actually asking why there are two right on top of each other.
Also, what happened to the horn strobes around 13:04?
@@aerhardt ooooh one is for the second building. Test for that will be uploaded next week or so
@@FourtyFiftyEightyI see. I’m excited!
