-Fossil records clearly indicate that creatures of enormous size that may have survived the extinction event required massive amounts of food due their size. However, smaller animals that did not rely on certain climate conditions or the sun survived due their size (small) and their diet (very little required)
The larger reptiles requiring more food perished from a lack of vegetation (little to no sun means no more plants until the ash cleared) as well as less food for prey animals who were hunted by larger species of dinosaurs.

@@SurfnboyShorts I'm a 46 year old student of all sciences. I recall most of what I've been taught or factually studied by peer reviewed evidence. Also you can look up the fossil record online in most public databases. The Smithsonian Institute is a public record example. Encyclopedias help too. 😊✌️

For those who are reading this, I just want to say not ALL parrots have weird looking tongues in fact the parrot you saw has a tongue like that because part of their diet is drinking nectar so they need tongues like that. Bigger parrots have rounder tongues my sun conure (medium parrot) has a rounded tongue and so do macaws.
I have a small parrot and its tongue looks ok normal its just a bit peak

That would tell you EXACTLY what the conditions of life were like in Mars'prehistoric eras.
But,
Because we only have the technology to send small unmanned robots we cannot did deep enough for that kind of core sample.
Geologists and even drillers survey areas of earth both on land and at sea to determine the safety and resources in any given area.
If fossilized remains are discovered, which have very key components, drilling for revenue is halted and further studies are required.
Generally, fossils can be found just about anywhere. It all depends on where and how deep you can dig.
