Do you speak english fluently?

I’m quite sure in Finland learning English is a considerable challenge if you’re a native Finnish speaker because their language sounds like it’s from another planet and doesn’t resemble anything else except Estonian.
I had a Finn friend tell me that their language was most akin to the Magyar language of Hungary. It has no relation to the languages of any of its geographical neighbors. Investigation into why that is would be an interesting endeavor for the curious and/or bored among us.
Good information Thanks.
Thank you @rb
I can speak fluent Hindi, Korean and (obviously) English. Also I am learning Latin, Spanish and French. Also I’m almost 10 yrs. Old.
It’s interesting quite a few people in Portugal speak English just fine, but in neighboring Spain where I’ve been to, hardly anybody speaks it. Same with Brazil, which is a Portuguese speaking country. There’s no incentive to there because few Brazilians ever leave their country.
I’m Spanish. But you’re Wright, we are not the best at speaking english.
Portugal does not dubb movies etc. Spain and Brazil do...
Not just English, Portuguese learn English, French and Spanish in school.
@@ricardomadleno564 and German :)
I would like to add that a high percentage of the Dutch speak more then 2 languages . When Disney Paris started almost all the people with more then 2 flags on their chest were Dutch. I would like to say that I find it hard to believe Germany has such a high percentage of English speaking inhabitants, I live near the German boarder and only the younger Germans speak English, not many people above 50 do .
I think us Dutch not synchronizing movies and TV-series has a lot to do with it besides learning English from 8 years old and French and German just a few years later.
It makes sense, Dutch is probably the closest language to English, but sounds a lot more guttural. And the Netherlands is a small country surrounded by countries that speak other languages. An old friend of my wife’s is from The Netherlands and speaks English like an American, but also speaks German fluently and passable French.
I am Swedish and every one I know can talk English fluently whit no problem btw I’m 13 years old
🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪 Scandinavia is on a different level!!

I can speak English, Hindi and Korean fluently and I am learning French, Latin and Spanish and I am 10.
Glad to see many europian speakng english
But in here iran🇮🇷english language not enterned in many people culture.
It makes sense, Iran has been closed off to most of the world for a long time. Americans have had nothing to do with the country since the ayatollah Khomeini.
@@jondstewart Agreed
What are Americans doing wrong in terms of learning foreign languages? I took two years of German in high school, and can get by with it, but nowhere near fluent in it! This was almost 40 years ago and I’ve carried it on.
What are educators in Europe doing right? Or anywhere else in the world? In Scandinavia, the Netherlands, and many other parts of Europe like Poland, the Czech Republic, and the like you have children and teenagers speaking it on their own free will almost like Americans.
Where is Malta on this list
Are these percentages based on population regardless of age. In The Netherlands, I thought just about everybody over 18 was fluent in English except for some stubborn, traditional elderly people living in the rural areas.
The data is about all the countries population above 18. I imagine as you said there are elderly or people from rural communities who do not speak english fluently, they are in first place though, so I wouldn’t worry to much. Thank you very much for your comments! They are very much appreciated!
Stubborn? Why?
I’m Dutch🇳🇱🇳🇱

Hi
I'm supposed be moving to Poland around August, but I haven't been doing a good job learning the language. Part of me feels like I really don't want to. Even if the English speaking right is over 60%, I'm not sure how I feel going there if I'm not gonna understand everything.
Where you from? I moved to Poland 4 years ago with possessing C2 level in English . Didn’t like the way the polish language sounded yet tried my best to learn it thus after 4 years I can get by with my polish and kinda use it on a daily basis . I’m still weak at it but I make myself understood , though my English skills have tremendously deteriorated. I make plenty of grammatical mistakes In English cause I’ve been accustomed to polish way of speaking English that is with minimal vocabulary and basic grammar , poles may speak English but their level is really low
@@Tameemterminator like is it true that most polish ppl and talk and understand english especially in urban centres?
Where is malta?
I think it doesn't count because English is an official language
Since when is English official in Malta?
I have never met a Nederlander that does not speak perfect english
You mean Dutch? The demonym of the Netherlands/Holland were called "Dutch".

Where is Malta? UK?? Ireland??
I didn’t include them because I suppose all, or almost all of their population speak english.
Oh can u make video on top Nepali people living in Europe?like that
Because the official language is English
Non-Anglo countries only.
Do these countries shared the same English teacher 😂 or studies the same cariculom
🤣🤣🤣
And turkey... Turkey English speak in 2.class
I don’t think they are on top, sorry 😢
Honestly, every portuguese has got an ok level of english, while the majority, specially among young people does it as a fluent, almost second language... call it tourism, call in traveling, but that's a fact... The same is not so for Poland, unless you speak with the ones who lived in England, even then, they often have problems at high English, and in Poland itself, English knowlege it's not common at all, often, they learn German or Russian instead...
I don't agree with your statement , especially after reading that paragraph riddled with not only grammar mistakes, but cultural misinformation as well. English is by far the most commonly taught foreign language in Poland , German second , Russian was compulsory during communism which ended nearly 35 years ago. I suppose you're the Portuguese with the "ok" level of English , definetly not what you referred to as "high" lmao. I won't elaborate further since your blatant ignorance on the subject was clearly shown when giving the world your silly opinion about how comprehension of the Russian language surpasses that of English within Polish borders.
@@tvojastarah5431 First of all, it wasn't a statement, but a comment, and out of personal experience. I got many Polish friends and been to your country many times..
Plus I never meant to be rude and I don't think you should be either.. Calling me ignorant only makes you sound arrogant
