We decided to fund nukes and not these, because we were scared... Also, two hundred billion dollars for the ISS is quite reasonable, as Mr Evil was going to hold us captive for 100 billion dollars.

We funded nukes to end the war (WW2).. And then we funded Nukes because we realized it was a mistake, as a maniac in Russia started building them to take over the world. It wasn't about being scared, it was a pretty practical necessity after making the original one. The world changed that day, and the worst part of it is the advances we lost in nuclear power because of it

The station renderings look impressive. But from a practical perspective, those windows are both structurally dubious and somewhat pointless at even 200M, as the light outside is rather dim.

The idea reminds me a lot of seaquest dsv and voyage to the bottom of the sea and gerry anderson's stingray tv series

Im a little concerned about this being private. The money funnelled into the space race all went back to Americans, for the goals of Americans. The money for the ISS was raised internationally, and went towards international cooperation (and those nations people)
A private company exists to extract research wealth. This will be a research landlord, and even if ultimately successful, will just create another Musk. No thanks
