  • On March 18, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Murthy v. Missouri and NRA v. Vullo-two cases in which government officials allegedly pressured private companies to target disfavored viewpoints. Alex Abdo of the Knight First Amendment Institute and David Greene of the Electronic Frontier Foundation join Jeffrey Rosen to break down both cases. Together they discuss the state action doctrine, explore the line between coercion and persuasion, and interrogate the tension between government speech and private speech.

I mean look at main steam media. That’s the first mechanism that the government censored for sometime now and well before social media had any say in this game. It pretty much tells you the government has and they can which is not good.

I find this rationale for this legislation to be disingenuous.
    Here's why:
    * As far as data privacy concerns are
bogus. Any foreign country can do
    what the US is already doing;
I e., buy user data from data brokers
which is collected and sold by all
    platforms.
    * Propaganda is being spread by every
    government either directly and/or
    via proxy.
    * The question is "What propaganda is
    a matter is beneficial or
    detrimental"?
    * How can change of ownership
prevent bots and users to create
    accounts and still spread propaganda?
IMHO this is a continuation of the program to wage economic warfare on China to thwart any successes.
The key to combat propaganda is for Americans to engage in critical thinking.
