- The RGM-96X Jesta Cannon was a heavy weapons equipment variation of the standard Jesta. As part of the Jesta's evaluation testing, five Cannon part sets were sent to the Ra Cailum. The Jesta Cannon's body was covered with additional armor and weapons that could be quickly detached through explosive bolts. The Jesta Cannon featured enhanced fire control capabilities over the standard model. Its armaments included a high output beam cannon mounted over the right shoulder that was directly connected to the reactor to avoid drops in energy supply, allowing for a regular rate of fire. The 4-tube multi-launcher mounted on the extra armor over the left shoulder served as an anti-mobile suit weapon. The hand grenades mounted on the legs were effective when used both in groups or individually. The customized beam rifle had an enlarged frame and an alignment device above the barrel that increased accuracy. A grenade launcher was attached below the barrel. .
The Jestas were criminally underused in the anime. In the novel, the Jestas actually fought the Shamblo Mobile Armor which was much more interesting.
Also the Rozen Zulu (and Watts is killed by Angelo)

Unicorn has some of the best MS designs. Jesta and Jegan DE remind me of spec ops soldiers and odst from halo
That's why Jesta Cannon was my first Gunpla. It reminded me of what a Mecha version of an ODST would look like.

@@ghostttriddder I can see that parallel. I was also reminded of Soviet tank design and the doctrine surrounding it in Gundam 00 with the Tieren design and use.
The Jesta Cannon was supposedly at 90% potential of the Nu Gundam. And the Nu was an extraordinary piece of tech, customised to it's pilots preferences to the fullest. The Jestas could have done so much more.
It's a late response I know...
Always wondered if that 90% is based on the "first lot"/ test they did on the Nu Gundam before the CCA movie events. The physco frame was a last minute addition after all.
Imagine a Jesta customized for high speed recon, extra thrusters, beam dmr, extra communication tech, smoke/chaf grenades

@@garrettlich7140 That would basically be the Shezarr Type Jesta. Except for the smoke and chaf since UC mobile suits would not have any use for them. (Minovsky particle interference and all that, ohhh god I just pulled a "Well actually" didn't I? Shoot...)

@@garrettlich7140 Hmmm, from what I remember Minovsky particles made Minovsky interference which made most wireless frequencies useless. Which is why a lot of rocket launchers had cables on them or were just free aiming them. With Incoms also needing cables since the suits own Minovsky particles would interfere. Even a few of the new type machines like the Braw Bro and Zeong needed cables, except the special Elmeth mobile armor. ohhh no.... what have I done, why did you make me do an even worse "WELL ACTUALLY"... I will stop before it gets even worse...
I really do love the Jesta and Jesta Cannon. I want them to get more time in the spotlight. One really good fight scene, like that Stark Jegan that fought Marida almost to a standstill!

My favorite MS design in all of Gundam, tied with the regular Jesta.
Understandable, it's my brother's favourite out of the 30 HGs he has.
Well it's either the Jesta Cannon or Zee Zulu.

Built 2x jesta cannon. 1 with 2 beam cannon while another with 2 quadruple rocket launcher. Feels like rebuilding of the Guncannon type A and B together.

It's an amazing design, but I don't want to imagine the logistical nightmare it would be to keep it armed, especially if there was more than one running around.
Well the gundam wiki said that there were enough resources and parts to make 5 more jesta cannons

@@labbit3574 I want to agree with you, but there are many historical instances of poorly thought out procurement decisions as well as oversights for logistics in real militaries, so I can't just accept that. It's still cool as hell, though.
@@jacksonbowns1087 well considering the feds own a fucking colony laser, I don’t think they’ll have much problem handling the logistics of a few advanced Jestas. And considering the engineers managed to patchwork fix the Kristia to a point that it could still operate normally I’d say they’re pretty competent at dealing with stuff like that.
And the Jesta Cannon was never seen again.

One of the few Mobile Suits I wish would get a Master Grade kit because I LOVE that design and I feel like the HG version is undermining the detail it would bring out.
they do make a mastergrade jesta cannon, its just pbandai and a little high up in the price range.

Imagine the pilot of the jegan has a custom mobile suit of all the best parts of the heck even the most suitable parts.
The jesta body type and the jesta cannon backpack, the gm sniper's head, the jegan missile shield, any type of beam saber and the delta plus beam rifle.
Surely it will go on par with the kshatriya with the weapons at hand medium to hard damages on kshatriya or even destroy it

I have the HG too. Was my first-ever gunpla, and I messed up a little too. I'm kind of thinking of getting another one and doing it right this time. Sadly the MG is insanely expensive or I'd have one of those too (I do have the regular Jesta MG and it's an amazing kit).
Incidentally, that's not a gatling. It's a multi-launcher that can do all kinds of fun stuff like rapid-fire rockets, indirect-fire bombardment shells, smoke grenades and flares...

エース、ベテラン向きの名機ジェスタの重装支援形態。
ビームキャノンと4連装マルチランチャーといった追加装備に、グレネードの増加と拡張装備付きのビームライフル、そして増加装甲と、いかにもなフルアーマーである。
しかし考え抜かれた装甲配置により、機動力は低下したもののジェガンと同等の機動力を確保…と、機動力の低下というフルアーマーの問題を高水準で解決している。
(スラスターを増設するのが一般的だが、今度はその分燃料消費が激しくなり稼働時間が短くなるため、この方法はかなり理想的である)
さらにパージ機能も搭載し、戦況に応じた柔軟な対応も可能。パイロットの好みに応じて、バックパックを通常の物やスタークジェガンの物にも換装可能など、汎用性も損なわれていない。まさに理想的なMSである。
劇中ではトライスターのワッツが搭乗。初登場で危うく死にかけたものの、隊長のナイジェルの優れた判断力と機体の防御力に助けられた。
その後汚名返上とばかりにシャイアン基地制圧に参加。Zプラスを叩き落とすなど、高性能機らしい戦果を上げてみせた。

ワッツは原作では紫薔薇にヤられたが、アニメでは生き残り、しかしその煽りか、なんとなく弱体化の印象

Yes. They'll continue on their path until the gravitational field of an object pulls them into something.
That could take a very long time.
That's why all the debris in orbit IRL from previous launches can become an issue. It can potentially stay up there in a stable orbit for centuries.

Huh, that was a nifty tactic.
Launch missiles at in front of the target then detonate them to blind the target.
It was supposed to be a warning shot to make them stop...they really wanted that ship _captured,_ not destroyed, which is why Watts is so shocked after it blows up. "Oh shit, oh fuck, Noa's gonna have my head for this..."
Those who played Unreal/UT know the trick well.

Auxiliary cooling is my guess, it's a more powerful variant of the jesta's beam rifle after all.
@@possibly8180 and can be fired like a machine gun so it really needs tha auxiliary cooling on that beam rifle, so it won’t overheat from the rapid firing of its beams

Funny fact that another ship with the exact markings in Narrative gundam, which happens after the end of Unicorn Gundam timeline.
That's because Captain Zinnerman asked for and got an exact copy of his old ship as payment for his defection from the Sleeves. He really liked that ship.

speaking of Jestas, one can only wonder how the Jesta and Jesta Cannon would have fared against the Crossbone Vanguard, would they do better, worse or about the same as the Heavygun and G-Cannon?

Depends on the pilot and the situation. In close quarters they'd have been slaughtered just like the Jegans. With good pilots and room to maneuver and keep the range open, they could have at least put up a fight.

@@YiminyCricket whilst this setup will provide better firepower that whatever they were given in F91, I feel that the result will remain the same.
The main problem is that the crossbone vanguard's (CV) miniature mobile suits are more mobile and have better defences.
All the suits (jagens + the extras) would be about 30-40 years old by then, and being in peace with no signs of war/ tension would result in the Federation lagging far behind in mobile suit development. (Same goes for pilot experience and skill)
The crossbone vanguard suits are smaller and faster than average
(average being the jegan)
(harder target to hit)
(a good example of this is how the Kshatriya can dodge the Stark jagen's missles)
and are equipped with beam shields (almost invincible when active)
(it take a beam of a ship to bypass the shield)
So in summary, The crossbone vanguards main suits are harder targets to hit and if they have beam shields active, the jagens have to maneuver around to get a better shot, but that's harder as the CV's suits are faster.
We also have to consider that the federation was caught by surprise by the CV.

Better than that, it's an upgrade kit that can be applied to or removed from a Jesta in a matter of hours, allowing units equipped with them to pick either loadout for any mission as needed.
The MG gunpla kit actually functions that way too. You get a regular MG Jesta and the upgrade parts (extra armor, extra thrusters, plus the two backpack weapons) to make it a Jesta Cannon, and I've seen a diorama somebody made of the refitting process with arms made of spare bits moving the Cannon upgrade kit into place...
