My Grandmother worked there from the age of 14, back in 1920's. That's where she met my Grandfather, who also worked there

I could listen to the owner of Iford forever. He has such a passion for the garden and describes things so well, he transports you back in time to each country and you can just imagine it all.

We have "Day Lillies" 🌺 in our garden. They usually flower from July to Mid August. They are called "Day Lillies" 🌺 because they Flower for ONE DAY only . If you look closely you can see the "New Bud" at dusk , will flower the Next Day. We have had them flower over the past week!!! 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

I've never heard of this garden or house before, but after watching this beautiful documentary, I HAVE to see this place.
It's now on my bucket list, at the top!
Troy clearly loves his job and it shows in his work. Spectacular. Love walking in a garden in the rain because the garden is always so "happy" in a shower.

WOW 👏The gardens are just amazing! However Julie, I was a bit disappointed 😞. I'd hoped you would tour us through in that glorious rain. How peaceful and calming it must be. Lol, I know that wasn't ideal circumstances for filming 😅. But would be great to have that kind of opportunity in person.

You can see William’s excitement when he conducts the garden tour🥰
There is a hollowed out marble capital with water in it. It's probably late 5th - 6th century Byzantine. The style is called wind-blown acanthus. It probably is Proconnesian marble from an island in the Sea of Marmora.
What an incredible garden, the artistic vision, committment and passion to this green world at Iford- I must see this one day.

What a facinating personality Mr. William Cartwright-Hignett is . I love the way he speaks , the presentation he makes so interesting ! What makes this place so beautiful is as he said " It's all a bit of a fudge , that's the key " ! I love it !
The romance of this garden is palpable, like stepping into a beautiful dream. William's enthusiasm and appreciation for it is inspiring, and Julie--you are really wonderful in your role of host of this series. I appreciate your genuineness and ease in front of the camera. I delight in seeing a fellow American occupy your role in the aristocracy with such naturalness and aplomb.

I've been lucky enough to drive around England and Wales quite a bit.
If you do then you will see lots of old and new British and Italian sports cars.
I don't recall ever seeing any Corvettes especially a powder blue model this old.
I guarantee the Viscountess gets some attention driving around in that beautiful American car!!

Brilliant! Thank you! Illnacullin or rather Garinish Island here in the village where I live also has a „Mount Fuji“. Peto built the arch of the „Medici House“ in a way that it frames the beautiful almost triangular Sugarloaf Mountain in the distance. One of the most amazing features of this once beautifully kept island (just 2-3 km from my home).
So very very beautiful. Loved the concept of gardens from different continents all melding together so cleverly.

Oh my goodness, I have those same Lilies, making a note of that. If you haven't eaten Borage, that will blow your mind, I grew that last summer but never ate it til this. That Japanese garden proves, green on green on green on green makes a gorgeous garden. Thanks to all for sharing the garden, and all the info, just wonderful.!

Suzy from America P.S. By the way, on the British Baking Show they pick some special flowers that look like pansies to help decorate the tops of birthday cakes. So there are a lot of edible flowers. But be careful to ask experts. Also, GOOD FOR YOU not to walk out in that rainstorm. I heard thunder and you cannot be too careful to avoid lightning! Good for you!
