The treadmill in our gym has three options:
easy which feels like 100 elo,
medium probably 500 elo
and then hard which could be stockfish maximum I don’t know it mobbed the floor with me. 😢

200 ELO: pick a piece at random and make a random legal move.
0 ELO: Use stockfish to find the worst possible move.
Then this is ~600 + 2100i Elo. I think complex numbers fit this relatively good.
I don't know why they don't make a chess bot that generates completely random moves ,now that would be fascinating

The tension of not knowing what kind of devious betrayal of rules would be next made this feel like a human fighting an evil god who is just fooling around with his creation, bullying it with unfair power difference. But in the end they lost because they underestimated our boi levi.

Well, if the treadmill has internet access, it could be connected to a bot. All you need is internet access, some back-end code to connect it to a bot, and a toaster could destroy you. You're not playing the device in front of you, you're playing against whatever it's connecting to.

This is exactly what happend here. Building "bots" is just another way to say you build an interface and prompt ChatGPT in the backend. And ChatGPT doesn't know the rules, it just remixes words.
i'm fairly sure it's a custom language model, same tech as chatgpt but not the same specific thing. it looks like it had a bit more training, it has remarkable board awareness given how shit some of its moves are

I kind of like the idea of respawning pieces, sort of a Doom Nightmare difficulty where every dead piece has a chance each turn to respawn on their starting square if the square is open. Make it so that the stronger the piece is, the less likely it will respawn. Could be a fun gimmick gamemode.

I was 8 years old when I first started playing chess and i became very good at it, i could easily beat the chess bots before 12 years, then i stopped playing it because of my studies I just didn't focused on it. Then i found your channel i have no idea how, just someday your video came to my youtube recommendation page, then just because of you i again starting playing chess and also learning as well, I've almost forgot everything in the game except common knowledge about the game, it's been 7 months and I've get my rating from 100 to 1300 just in this time because of you, my knowledge of chess is a little bit rusty but your videos are really helping me to get better everyday!
