    Just got this lovely turntable from my boyfriend for my birthday.My Dad passed away 2years ago and he used to listen to records with me ..when he passed his records ended up in my sister's garage in Hungary and now they are with me in the UK so I can enjoy them forever keeping Dad's memory more alive every day.

    Wow, a turntable that comes with it’s own dust cover with metal hinges, is quiet and steady, solidly built, has speed selector switch and a way to fine tune the speeds, no fishing line parts, and not $3000 - what a concept!

    Thanks! I just received my RT-81 today, purchased predicated on your videos. I LOVE IT!!! Its my first turntable and I am testing it against Amazon Music streaming. I'm playing a brand new album, Melody Gardot - My One And Only Thrill. The RT-81 sound is far superior to the Bluetooth streaming service!!!! I never knew what I was missing. I'm currently listening through B&W 704's, but will soon be hooking this up to my B&W 801 S2's.
    Thanks again! Your reviews, in my opinion, are some of the best on CZcams! Realistic and honest, no marketing BS, much appreciated!!!! Please continue to provide your wonderful content.

    Thank you for continuing to provide great information Craig. Yours was one of the first channels I came across when I was setting up my new turntable (Pro-ject RPM 1.3), and the beginners guide you posted is great and easy to understand. I also enjoy the total lack of pretentiousness that I have so often encountered getting into the hobby. Keep up the great work man, and enjoy the new table!

    Thank you for this review! My fiance gifted me this TT for my 30th birthday. It's been a real treat to be able to listen to my father's records I inherited as well as new records I've purchased from my favorite current artists. I'm hoping you do a review of the Fluance PA10 Phono Preamp in the future. Mine just arrived the other day and I've enjoyed it tremendously. However, there's not a lot of proper reviews on the internet and I'm just now learning about this hobby. Your advice and work is greatly appreciated.

  • @jinjunmei
    @jinjunmei Před 6 lety +2

    Very thorough review, thank you. I currently own a Sony PS-LX300 turntable that I bought about a year and a half ago when I first wanted to get into the hobby. But now I really want to upgrade my turntable, and invest in a preamp and a decent cartridge. Before this video, I was eyeing the TEAC TN-400S. It's a very simple and elegant looking turntable, but it also retails for about $600 Canadian. This Fluance turntable has a very similar look to it, and after watching your review, I'm impressed at how much thought went into the design of this turntable, and how solid it seems to be, especially for that price point! I'm also really happy to hear that the sound quality is great, and that the speed rotation accuracy is just about perfect. I was honestly fully convinced that I was going to upgrade to that TEAC TN-400S, and all I needed to do was save a little more money before I could afford it, but after watching your review, you've really gotten me thinking about this turntable. I love the design, the build quality looks to be absolutely solid, the sound is great, and it's half the cost of the TEAC I wanted.

    I wasn't sure if I was going to like this little belt-driven deck after owning a pair of direct drive Technics SL-1210 Mk2's but I must admit after trying it out for a month and thought about parting with it after that...I've fallen in love with it and made the decision to keep it for the spare bedroom. It's a lovely solid turntable and plays everything without skipping. Set up was easy and straightforward. The sound quality is amazing even though I've changed to a felt mat and changed the cartridge over to a hi-fi grade Concorde, it plays really well. I haven't got the heart to sell it or part with it, mine forever.

    Even though this video is from a few years ago, it’s definitely pushing me over the edge in purchasing the rt81 over the at-lp120x. I’ve just been trying to weigh out the differences and pros & cons. I listen to my records in a small bedroom with (currently) an at-lp60 and a pair of Logitech powered speakers. Which is fine for what it is. I’ve had this setup for almost 4 years and I feel it’s time for an upgrade. So, with the budget I have, the research began. Again, this review has definitely helped. Great review Craig! This is not an ideal turntable for a studio setup, but I love the build and sound quality of this model. You cannot hear any motor noise, unlike my AT120-USB. Here in the UK we always recommend Rega, but this is one model I shall be recommending in future. Thanks!

    ❤😂🎉 Craig I just have to tell you period. I just received my rt81 and it is everything you said it is in the video and more accuracy spot-on tonearm wise speed-wise and I love it! Having owned Computing turntables this one is clearly a winner! I too also have a professional direct-drive turntable was Astro and the Fluance is even better than that

    Hey Craig! nice review and I do agree it is neat piece of gear having used it more than a year. Mine is almost perfect as the platter not completely flat but sounds still good

    I know this video is a bit old, but I've been really debating between upgrading from my Techincs SLBD-26 that I've been using for years to either an ATLP-120 or a Fluance RT-81. I've been thinking about going with the RT-81 because I'd like to stick with belt driven, but this video has helped me make my decision finally. Thanks!

    I had an original Rush Moving Pictures that I bought when I was a kid back in 1981. I thought the album sounded amazing way back then. I can imagine how great it sounds with the brass master!

    Since my first review below, I've been playing some of the heaviest dance tracks with the RT81 and it really has impressed me with the way it handles Deep House, Hard House and Trance as well as Industrial Techno. It's not a DJ turntable.... that we know, but it is a solid and very well made deck even though it is belt driven and not direct drive. It tracks well and doesn't jump or skip. Some of the heavy rhythms and basslines have caused the Audio Technica to skip but not on the Fluance. It's a beautiful turntable and a lot of people will benefit from this and it's budget pricetag.

    Great review. You're obviously passionate about your hobby and, having purchased this turntable from your own scratch, I can rely on your opinions being honest. My wife has bought me one of these for Christmas. Oops! I mean, Santa is bringing me one of these next week. Phew! I think I might have just gotten away with that. Anyway, like yourself, I have been in the vinyl game a long time. The first record I bought was A Night At The Opera by Queen, in 1975, at the tender age of 11. I didn't get my first hi-fi system until 1982, a Sansui system with Rotel 3-way speakers. It sounded brilliant, especially with that "loudness" button in. I had that system for around 10 years before, to my disgrace, switching to cd. It was only following the death of one of my greatest musical "Heroes" in 2016, that I made the move back again. By that time the belt on my deck had withered and rather than try to find a replacement, I bought a used Sony PS-LX350H with an Ortofon combi cartridge/stylus. I have been very happy with it but it just looks like every other Technics SL-1200/10 clone out there. So I jumped at the chance of a new deck. I did a lot of research before settling on the RT81 and your review has filled me with excitement for listening to vinyl recordings again. So keep those reviews coming. And Merry Christmas!

    Awesome review! It's sounding fantastic with this stylus! I have mine RT-81 for almost a year now, and it's just an amazing turntable, specially for the price you pay! I'm using the Ortofon 2M Red on mine, FYI.
