On April 8, 2024 there will be a solar eclipse. Some parts of the US will be in the path of totality and will see a total eclipse and other places, such as Virginia, will see a partial eclipse. Protecting your eyes is a must for viewing the partial and total eclipse. Justin Bartel, Assistant Director of Education, Astronomy Programs at the Science Museum of Virginia explains why solar eclipses happen and emphasizes the important need for proper eye protection for yourself and your equipment. You need to know that it is just a shadow of the moon over the sun for a few minutes, it has no effect on the earth as we have an eclipse of the moon every month. And the sun eclipse is no difference.
