"The definitive biography of Pistol Pete Maravich"
ESPN
This is, by far, the most complete Pistol Pete Maravich mix covering both the NBA (Hawks, Jazz, Celtics) and the NCAA (LSU).
Thanks to Wayne Federman and the Pete Maravich Memorial Basketball Camp in Clearwater Florida for the vintage old school clips. - Sport
I've seen some of these clips many times and I still get chills watching them. Pistol Pete is truly one of greatest to ever lace up a pair of sneakers.
Long live the Pistol. The best baller I ever saw.
Everyone knows Pete holds the college scoring record with 44 per game but something a lot of a people dont know is that The former LSU head coach marked down every shot he made and said that if there was a 3 pt line he would of averaged 13 3's per game and upped his average to 57 pts per game.
larreey I never said Press Maravich , i said former LSU head coach... Dale Brown to be specific. But you probably know more than him considering he only coached at LSU for 25 years. Oh do you want a source? well here you go en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Maravich its under college, second paragraph. Maybe next time before you spout your mouth off like an internet tough guy you should think twice pal
larreey if your read another biography like Pistol, that piece of information would be in there about making 57 points a game. There is a documentary called Pistol: The Life and Times of Pete Maravich, and that would also be in there as well. "Try separating myth from the legend next time ya post somethin on Pistol. Poseur" (larrey, march 2014). I think this applies to you.
This guy is one of the greatest, most inspirational players ever. And to think that he was doing this with a heart condition where he had no left coronary artery (only his right artery) makes it all the more extraordinary. The more one plays basketball, the more one would realize how incredible this guy is. He deserves all the accolades and more.
"You don't get here by just wishing." Best damn quote i have ever heard. Rest in peace, Pistol Pete.
Thank goodness this type of talent is immortalized by FILM. Great video, great player.
Having watched Pistol Pete's entire college career, this
mix tape brings back fond memories-great job!Pete was not only an original, but way ahead of his time!
Pete revolutionized the game. He bought the game to a level that no other player ever will or could do. I watched him play in college and the pros in person, and he left you breathless most every time.
Way ahead of his time for the ball handling skills he had. Decades ahead. Only difference is he's not palming and carrying every time he touches the ball
Teerever Man you don't know enough about ball handling if you think that's the only difference
julchu0 and you don't know what a figure of speech is. Try again
Teerever Man apparently neither do you lmao. Once again you don't know shit
I'm telling you, had the ABA allowed Dr J to be with the hawks (Or if Philly made a trade for Maravich), Erving and Maravich would have been one of the "Greatest Duo's" that ever played the game.
San Diego nah Maravich and doctor j got along really well while half those players u named weren't close to each other. Maravich and j in the all star games loved playing together
Well, Atlanta (and Dr J and his agent) tried. They (not surprisingly) worked well together and appreciated each others' game.
The older I get the more amazing it becomes to me what he meant to basketball and how advanced he was. The game needed to catch up to Pete. Bravo Pete Rest Easy Brother!
Finger rolls, sky hooks, passes, shots you name it dude can do it all.
Great video man. Pete played like no one else, ever.
this is the best basketball vid i've seen on youtube. awesome!
Wow this is the first footage ive ever seen of pete maravich, truly as transcendent as jordan, what an innovator
GREAT job on this video man. Excellent.
Definately my favorite player of all time.
Same here, I can't get enough of it.
at 0:12 seconds i opened a new tab to play "lose yourself" while watching this video. made it much more enjoyable.
unstoppable! thanks pete.i was a kid of 14 in 1968 and we all wore socks like you and started passing behind our back,no look etc.you are best ever, bar none!
A man ahead of his time. He had the sickest crossover before there even was a crossover, and played with more style than anyone in his era. A shame one of these greats had to leave us.
He's just simply amazing
Greatest player ever to touch a basketball. PERIOD.!!!!
THE BEST I've ever seen. Ball handling, passing, shooting!
Pete has dimes, ball handling skills are like no other. All people who love the game, are blessed with skill.
there will never be another person who could even come close to matching his skill.
R.I.P. much love
this video is amazing the best one ive seen by far i watch it almost everyday and its still the best basketball ive ever seen... and it soungs sweet with the song you shook me all night long lol
Thanks for this tribute. Pete was a man ahead of his time. He would have fared better in today's NBA.
The man was such a pure shooter, he very rarely hits rim regardless of where the shot is from or how tough the D is. There has never been another player with his combination of shooting accuracy, ball control skills and showmanship. There have been several with two of the three but no one with all three...I know you're at peace, Pete.
the audio was good as it was... i loved it
perfect form... along with many other things. his shot is so smooth
That is a GREAT video!!!love the music mix as well...Damn,he was awesome......Phew!!!
Totally amazing!! NO ONE plays like that today and they NEVER will.
The most incredible shot maker I have ever seen - and I've seen them all.
Pistol Pete................. Lots of great memories from this NBA Ledgend......... Undoutably one of the greatest ever!!!
God Bless you Brother!!! I hope you are fast - breakin' - shakein' and bakin' in Heaven!
best highlight video ever
He is sooooooo good! One of the best of all time.
That loop long pass I learned from him and used many times, it is very useful at fastbreaks.. Best tricker guard ever!
One of the best to ever do it! R.I.P
last minute and a half was ridiculous. great video.
I don't know what I like to watch more, his shooting or his trick passes... mind blowing stuff!
Immagine basketball today without him...
All my respect and thanks to this amazing player!
Every shot that goes in is a perfect swish.
nice video, pistol pete is a great player!
his number 7 is also retired in the Superdome and the New Orleans Arena...and I agree it is so awesome.
He was one of the best ever. No one one passes like that anymore.
he made some of the sickest passes ever made!!
great video. he was way ahead of his time.
R.I.P. and thank you for everithing you think, for everithing you do....for your skills, for your hair, for you style.....
ONE OF THE BEST EVER
The moves at 2:28 and 4:20 are absolutely unreal. I'm proud that I got to see Pete play in person with the New Orleans Jazz back in the day.
pete is the man. great passes and shots.
great vid
pete maravich was the definition of streetball moves in the 70s and 80s
Waaaay ahead of his time; awesome!
No one practiced as hard as PETE "the PISTOL " MAVARICH ,HE WAS ALWAYS A TEAM PLAYER N PLAYERS ALWAYS JEALOUS OF HIS SKILLZ HE WORKED SO HARD TO PERFECT ALL HIS MOVES ,PETES FATHER GAVE PETE THE ULTIMATE GIFT OF LOVE ,PETES PARENTS ARE THE REASON FOR HIS SUCCESS WHEN YOUNG CAUSE THE MAVARICH FAMILY WAS A TEAM N T.E.A.M. STANDS FOR "Together, Everyone, Acheives ,More ,"
This man is the sickest dribbler ever. I don't even care about the points; the good stuff is his slick passing.
His jumper is so smooth.
amazing control and overall feel for the game
Amazing.
amazing!
my god, he is fucking amazing. no nba athlete today has as much style.
The one who mastered the JUMP SHOT. Pistol Pete, we miss you.
Pistol Pete has arguably the best jump shot ever.
wow this is the guy who started all the fancy stuff. I love players who are great but make the game fun to watch too. he is definitely one of the best players I ever watched. rather watch him then alot of other players.only put a few up there with him but he might be the best to ever play the game.
Cant wait to see you in heaven Pete.
Thanks for the post Onparr
fantastic
What memories!
onparr did a really good job of matching music+video,
remember if u want to be a spec of what he was, he practiced 8 hours a day, that made him the best college player in history and the best ballhandler this world has ever seen, so when i get tired playing b-ball i never quit because i remember pete's hard work
1 of the best of all times
Pistol Pete was showtime he was way ahead of his time
Did he ever miss ?!?!
This guy is a legend, soo ahead of his time !
one of the best guards to ever exist. he innovated a lot of the things that seem so normal to a professional player today. he deserved a championship for sure.
My all-time favorite player!
poetry in motion...
LEGEND
i never realized how good he was until i watched this
gotta love pete
Absolutely, one of the best showmen of all-time. Before Magic, there was Pistol and before Pistol, there was Cousy.
this guys got some sick moves!
Amazing
you said it pistol is pure revolutionary.
never heard of him until i got him in nba 2k13 myteam. THIS DUDE IS BEAST!
AWESOME!!!
A great selection of music to compliment these highlights. Was that Larry Bird at the 5 minute mark with the assist to Pistol Pete? I had almost forgotten about Pistol's time in Boston at the end of his career.
"dont try it, dont try it"
- i won't
I agree that others are probably tired of us as well and we should stop. 514, I have enjoyed your dialogue and I appreciate your knowledge on the history of basketball. God Bless You too my friend.
one of the legends. remember him referenced on boondocks.
thats wrist pass is a damn trip!!
Happy Birthday! Pete would have been 61 today. You are missed.
pete is a beast :)
he's a classic
amazing player... fun to watch
Pete was awesome. His offensive arsenal was one of the best. Only knock on him would be his consistency.
