I have done some experiments with my md500, at the time I bought it, I also bought a c129 both branded as rcera . I noticed that the transmitters (controllers) for both of these looked almost identical, so I tried using the opposite controller on the md500.. and it worked perfectly. So that means they have the exact same protocol, but even more important, my md500 now flies perfectly with the remote for the c129. The difference in controllers is minor,, with the c129 controller, I loose the kill button and the auto land function for the md500, but I consider that a good trade for being able to fly my md500 perfectly now.
I have 2 models from other brands with the auto take-off. I have found that if I push the auto take-off I immediately push the the power control stick down, that will control the bird.
I recently ordered one and before it arrived I was doing some research on this helicopter and I came across several videos with this problem, this scared me but I had faith that mine would arrive without this defect. Finally it arrived and I made the first flights with caution. The truth is that it flies wonderfully. Even so, I have continued researching and I realized that there are two versions, one that comes with an optical sensor and another that does not. Mine arrived without it and flies beautifully. I think only those that come with the optical sensor have had the problem.
Could be the transmitter when things get wonky! I’ve bought several of these rc era types of helis. Some directly from China. Many have arrived broken or not working. I’ve been able to take videos of the problems and they have always sent me replacements. So I’ve taken apart helis and transmitters and managed to fix them.
I almost ordered one, but canceled before it shipped. This is the third video I’ve seen with this issue. It’s a real shame because it’s a beautiful looking scale helicopter.
I have seen so many problems with this helicopter, and that's why i don't have one. I have the f06 135, and it is really good. There is a big number of bad batches out on the markets, people are getting good and bad models. I subscribe, come back. Blessings from Ireland 🇮🇪 Eamon
Hi Eamon. Thanks for your input. Yes many have uploaded videos about the problems. I also have F06 EC135 it's a much better Heli. All the best from Merseyside.
I bought one, and it does the same thing. I used a stick through the skids to hold it to the ground. When I do the binding procedure it acts like it worked, however; moving the throttle will not spin the rotor. The only way to get the rotor to spin is to press the “take off” button. When this take off button is pressed it applies too much power, and it will not slow or stop unless I press the”stop” button. If I had not held it down with the stick, it would have climbed uncontrollably and then when I hit the stop button, it would have fallen to the ground and broken into many unusable pieces. Good thing I tested mine first. I am sending mine back.
Mine was red with a white stripe like the one in the video. They call it a Coast Guard paint scheme. I have since purchased a Blade 150 FX. I crashed it twice when I first started flying it, but that was about 10-15 flight’s ago. Nothing has broken and I can fly it pretty good. I have a good feeling for it, and think I’m ready to step up to the next level. I’m not sure what to get next.
Two things: Try binding the heli to a different transmitter or replace the existing receiver with a new one that is probably been updated by the manufacturer.Just my two cents!
Don't waste your money on this helicopter. Mine did that on about the tenth flight, Land button brought it down, then I had to do Emergency stop to get the blades to stop spinning. Next flight pressed the Takeoff button, it went full throttle and full forward until it tumbled into the ground, destroying the helicopter. Ten flights for $158, you do the math.
I am having the same issue, up, up up and cant get it to come back down,, it is in the software somewhere,, I took it completely apart and found that swashplate has plenty of room to go down,, the heli either does not respond to joystick commands or the transmitter (controller ) is junk, I am going to look into a different radio for it, or get a new fc for it.
Thanks for posting this video, i just ordered one from Hobby King is a bundle with an RC ERA C129 hopefully i won't have this issue! Where did you buy your heli if ya don't mind sharing?
Hey just thought of something, did you calibrate the gyro before you flew that heli by binding and then holding the sticks down and to the left? I know that's sort of a no brainer but i didn't know about it at first. Wonder if maybe the gyro is messed up, if all else fails could swap the electric bits with new just to see what it does too I guess.
Hello sir I have the same helicopter have several flights on it now it flies very well two things are you locking the battery in place and two did you calibrate the gyro if you haven't done either one try that may help
The fly away happened to me. only thing I was able to do was hit the stop button. I walked away with broken blades a tail boom and stripped main gears. The landing skids and rocket pods took a beating as you can see the impact stress marks but managed to stay intact. I did the usual upon start up bind, calibrate and engine start. I throttled up and boom she shot straight up no controls. I did a few ground tests with the stripped gears and I held onto the heli with 1 hand while I got the rotors to spool up and hit the throttle and it went full throttle on me while holding it in my hand. Hitting the stop button was all that could be done to stop it. I did this a few more times and out of 10 attempts I was able to get 1 good one being able to control and reduce throttle. There was 1 other time during the testing it went full throttle on it's own after spool up it didn't give me time to hold onto the tail boom and I immediately hit stop a few feet in the air. I think I got around 10 consecutive great flights with this before this happened. I really thought I lucked out and got a good one. Such a shame I was really enjoying flying this but I did have a weird feeling I even made sure to slap on a return address label on it just in case and wallah now I've become one of the fly away members.
I have one just like it. It flew away at least 3 times on me. I finally tethered it down. Still trying to figure out the issue. I'm considering replacing the flight control board.
you need to set your troddles trims all the way down before take off.bind and then set it all the way down.then take off.and do you know how to set trims from the troddle trim button by making the TX light blink set and save your trim setting there is a video on that on youtube.it may be TX problem.I just got mine now am worried. I took the main roater blades off and tested it the swash plate was not tiling to right like the left. if it goes out of contorl am not buying another.dont use stop button just the land button.
I tried that. I tried to reset the trims. Then I tethered it down. Maybe I didn't do it correctly. It kep going up until the tether caught it. But it swung way over and hit the side of my house breaking a blade. Shame. A beautiful heli. I love the Coast Guard version but altitude hold is complete rubbish. Not sure it is even worth fixing to try again.
am going to take it to open soccer field with no trees. flat land area only for me.I think about adding some fishing weights to stable the c189. the reason is the heli has no weight to the body . I will let you what happens on that.@cobbs5260I will not hit the stop button.
@ianyams, Can we get the RC ERA customer service contact data? I have videos of several flyaways where it went up about 100 to 200 feet high. I finally started coming down after about 1 minute of flying up. Only after that did the Left stick start to control the altitude again. Twice in one day.
@@ianyams I own the YX F06. A much much better helicopter. The standard transmitter is the weak part. But is does work extremely well with the YX Coast Guard Seahawk transmitter. Fun to fly now.
Beware !...many people are suffering flyaways due to known issues with motherboard/ gyroscope... the problem has since been addressed from the factory but many remain in the market are in are being released to the unsuspecting buyer ! oh, and RcEra will not stand behind it ;^(
Thanks for your comment. This Heli doesn't have GPS or optical flow. Apparently it uses barometer pressure to hold height but it doesn't do that either ☹️ absolute rubbish.
So that helicopter comes with two choices optical flow or you can get the same one without it now here is the funny part. The red and white copter has problems with optical flow. The black helicopter doesn’t even offer it. The camel flies sand camouflage copter flies perfectly with the optical flow and the green army helicopter has issues less than right with optical flow, so it comes down to the programming so your optical flow and just go back to manual . The way you speak let me know that you are not a novice, but this may be not your first but not your 10th helicopter or you have dumb down the vocabulary for any newbie that’s trying to buy this helicopter. It only took me about 5 to 10 minutes of watching, John, salt, Alishanmao, Quad copter 101, and Doctor drone and right there they had all the information I needed and looking at the good website and noticing which color pro provided optical flow and which one didn’t and comparing that with the videos it all makes sense so you either buy the black one that doesn’t come with it or you buy the green one optical because it’ll want to remove the optical. It will not be sending any information to the flight controller.
