  • The title says it all. The NR200P V2 is your next SFF case. Its fixed a lot of the issues people had with the original NR200P. It's now almost purely liquid cooling focused.

    I feel like Cooler Master took all the feedback and said "Nah, fam. We good". People asked for better compatibility for AIO's (being able to mount it at the top and not only on the side) and now AIOs are basically the only option for optimal CPU cooling . People asked for USB-C and now you gotta manage an extra thick cable in the same space. People LOVED that you could do horizontal GPU in a SFF case and now vertical is your only option AND because of this you lose a SSD spot at the front which limits the storage capacity of the case immensely. The uselessness of the TG panel comment is spot on because NO ONE will want to choke their GPU with it. I know the outake overall is that the case is good and all but as someone who didn't buy the V1 (which has spiked in price now) waiting for the V2, I'm very disappointed.

      "because of this you lose a SSD spot at the front which limits the storage capacity of the case immensely."
      Not sure why this is a complaint in 2024. Do people still use more than one SATA SSD now? NVME prices have come down immensely, and almost all motherboards come with at least one NVME slot nowadays, so IMO that justifies switching over to only NVME storage for most people.
      I'm sure there are some extreme niche or extreme budget cases where you'd want a SATA SSD or even a hard drive, but I think most people can afford NVME. There are multiple tiers of specs and pricing for them.

    • @JeremyArchie
      @JeremyArchie Před 2 měsíci +4

      Yeah, I feel this not really an 'improvement' over the original NR200P...especially if you're using air-coolers for the CPU. It's amazing in 2024 that CM would consider less part-compatibility to be 'better'.

    • @estebangardila
      @estebangardila Před 2 měsíci +5

      @@kasper_429 The complaint has absolutely nothing to do with NVME prices or availability. A lot of people (not only "extreme niche cases") use the NVME available as their OS drive but use SATA SSDs or even HDDs to store files, media and other stuff. V1 had support for TWO SSDs at the front and V2 only has support for one; it's that simple.

    I’m very happy that you often show wether or not the biggest GPU’s like the Strix can fit. This is often an overlooked visual that other CZcamsrs don’t do. in my opinion, it’s very important because that way people will be able to see what the biggest components are that you can fit in a certain small form factor. Because sometimes only knowing the max length of a GPU is not enough to know whether or not, it can actually fit, as it can sometimes be a little bit tricky to get the GPU in or sometimes the GPU will not fit at all because of the thickness or the way it’s built even though the GPU length is within the limits of the case
    Furthermore, I think it’s important so people have a better assurance that their smaller GPU’s will also fit the case

Some tips, loosen the radiator screws when assembling the top, ribbon cables are a pita, I switched to the asus Loki and it worked out better routing the gpu cable through the front (this gave me room for the 280 aio tubes), lastly I made said Asus SFX-L fit on the SFX mounting point to clear the 280 aio. Tnx and cheers!

    Thanks for the video, great detail, exactly why I subscribed to this channel.
    I have both the Max and the original NR200P, the latter is running my main PC as it just was the best of the bunch.
    As other comments have pointed out, forcing AIOs is so bad - why not make the backpanel modular, like in the original NR200P, to allow for horizontal AND vertical GPU mounting. Vertical GPU mounting without riser in an SFF case WAS one of the main features of this case lineup.
    The only thing holding the original NR200P back was the inner front panel cutouts being to small. I had to deshroud my 4090 to get it in there. They made things worse by introducing too many changes. They only needed to do to things:
    * Remove the inner front panel entirely and replace it with two modular add-ins for people who want to mount harddrives there - so that people can use only one for vertical GPU mounts and two for horizontal.
    * Make the AIO top mountable, for 280 maybe slightly increase the height of the case, but do NOT sacrifice the whole case concept for that AIO (lowering the board mount, screwing horizontal mounts, screwing air cooling folks, etc.)
    They should have done more research in their user base. Get the original NR200P and a dremel is what I would recommend, then you can mount your gpu however you want. And if you still want top AIO, people have done that two with a slim rad and slim fans - without any height or mainboard mount adjustments. Honestly, their customers have through mods shown them how to make the V2 - the research was already done.

    My NR200P has the optimal airflow, side intake with AIO for CPU VRAM and M.2 cooling and a Nvidia Founders with flowthrough that gets exhausted to the top and back...
    I also have 3 SSDs in the front...the third is just dangling in there. :D

    Solid follow up. There was a time when the NR200 and the TU150 were basically the best cases for ITX on the market. Luckily we have more chassis now. IMO the NR200 was better, BUT if the TU150 fit all your parts and was good enough thermals for your build, nothing really beats the build quality of a Lian Li chassis. The biggest issue with the TU was cooling and restrictions on parts sizes. The NR200 on release was more budget friendly, "good enough" build quality, AND amazing parts compatibility.

CZcams video never happen, the transfer didn't go smoothly, operator error, but in the end everything fine. Cable management was a pain, run the RBG to the wrong header and the 24pin and GPU cables have too much length on them, so I try making some custom cables. If I had a long GPU it don't think it would fit if the x16 was at the top, because of PSU cables.

    I built in this just over the last few days and it was eh. Bought a large number of parts trying to figure out what I wanted to go with, and this one was severely limiting. Couldn't use the Arctic Liquid Freezer III 280 (too thick) or DeepCool LT520 because of the pump height, so ended up going with an EK Nucleus 240, but the tubing for that is short, so you can't route it under the PSU shroud so it just sits against the PSU and GPU, and with an SFX-L PSU, it's basically unable to use any AIO other than the Cooler Master one. The USB and USB-C cables are extremely thick and do not bend well, the front panel connector was extremely short, so routing it was not possible, it just had to be pulled straight to the pins on the board as a result, the TG panel is useless because yes, let me lose basically all my cooling intake, vertical only GPU puts the GPU right against the case side, venting the hot air straight into the case and CPU radiator. Added 2 exhaust fans to the bottom for negative pressure and to try and pull some of the hot GPU air out of the bottom, but temps for both still just hovered right in the 70-80 range.
    Overall...I was able to complete a build, but it was extremely disappointing. I ended up with a Lian Li A4-H2O, which also resulted in lower temps (CPU sits around 60, GPU at 70 under gaming load), smaller footprint, and fit all the parts I had. This case just seems like "we had a lot of stock left, so made a new I/O panel for the top and labeled it V2!" and shipped the same case with a new USB-C port. It was a major disappointment.

    No, my next SFF case is sitting behind me on the other desk and waiting for the final decision on how to position the PSU. Its half the volume (10L), and originally not built for liquid cooling. Also weights half of the NR200 v2. Sandwich-layout from the very beginning, and also all in white.

    I wish u did gpu test with tg..4090 might be a huge card but for me i prefer to have a mid tier gpu in this case..i wonder how the temp will be especially with those dual 120 fans on bottom..

    With cases like this, I always wonder if coolers like the Arctic Liquid Freezer line will fit, given that the radiators are thicker than normal.

      It looks like it has the 10 mils extra there for fitment, but you may want to run 15 mil fans for performance

      6950 XT saw no changes in temps with the glass side panel. I also use two intake fans at the bottom of the case so the added air pressure with the glass panel lowered my motherboard temps. It's fine if you have a 3 slot card like mine or many others as there's plenty of a gap for air to enter the gpu

    Would you be willing to test this config? Going from top to bottom: Fans (intake), radiator, GPU, fans (exhaust, but maybe try intake too)
    The GPU can pretty much always pull fresh air regardless of the config, but in the config that you have, the CPU ends up using the hot air from the GPU. I have a 7950X3D and I dont think this case would accommodate it very well seeing the results with 7700X

      Thats not how airflow works. The air temps dont matter. All that matters is that air is moving.

    Why doesn't this case have an option for a *sandwich mounting solution?* As in a center spine in the middle with the motherboard on one side with the power supply, and on the flip side the GPU with a flat radiator pump combo, the FE 3000 or 4000 water cooled leaves you with a lot of space after it. And if you modify the spine & mount the sandwich center spine a little higher you would be able to have dual 360 radiators with fans. And then you would want tempered glass on both sides. Do they offer tempered glass for both sides?
    *Replacement back I/O case panel & adding a center spine isn't hard, take mins if you had a CnC, or knock it out old school with a router table by hand... & cut a bunch of threads for new screws.* You'll have zero room to hide any extra wiring so this is best done by you by just shorting all of the cables you need that the power supply comes with, just do one wire at a time & make them perfect. ...measure twice, cut, strip, crimp, next. ..all of your cables will be only a few inches long.
    While you're add it, learn how to bend glass tubing. Just know EKWB fittings are 12.7mm OD before buying any glass tubing. ...and when I say learn, look up how they make neon signs with the use of your lungs to add pressure to the glass tubes so they do not fold in on you. ...this technique can also be used on plastic tubing and once you learn it makes complicated multi bend lines so much easier. btw if you look around you can find glass tubing cheaper than plastic, AND there is NOTHING that looks better than glass.

    Anyone have the Phanteks SFX PSU? If so, do your original cables slightly push on the GPU on the NR200P (non Max)? Am considering getting CableMod flex cables (have a Tuf 3070) to see if it helps.
