  • Did a little more adjustment to the rigging and honed down the trigger sears for a more predictable let off. Tested only 6m this time and accuracy was excellent.

    Hi Majd,
First of all let me thank you for your videos: they opened my eyes on two bands guns and helped me really a lot with settings. Again thank you brother!
    About this test.
I own an Alemanni vela 130 and think the gun tested here has some setting problems. It has more or less same lenght of mine but performs not well enough.
On my gun i have a 9mm shaft and 4 18mm bands down plus a 16mm "direct bands" up as you can see on Alemanni website.
It's a lot of bands, i know, but it can manage it very well: you can shoot one hand and have excellent dead center accuracy at 6 or 7 meters. I never performed a penetration test like yours but the power of that thing is amazing. Last time we tried a 10 mm shaft and it was very accurate up to 6 meters. We did not test it at 7 meters since we had set the gun with just a double wrap of line.
If i were you i would try a much heavier shaft on that gun and add a direct brand.
    Cheers
    Uccio

+antonio giunta Hi ... thanks for the kind words. Actually my plan was to get the Vela 130 to test out, but I liked this gun because I thought it was a single action (but of course it turns out it is not). I bought 8.5mm and 9mm shafts for this gun, but in testing they did very poorly. I think there simply is not enough power for that. I did shoot several shots with a Vela 130 and to be honest, I did not feel it got the same velocity as with the Abellan Denton 130 with 3 x 14.5mm bands. Of course the only way to know for sure is to put the gun in the pool and test it for accuracy and penetration. I think classic guns can be made much more powerful than many ever imagined, but poor design and poor setups in classic guns have really ruined performance. Take a look at my Abellan Denton 130 test to see what can be done with simple classic guns . This is by far the most powerful speargun setup I have ever tested which included huge 5 banded tuna spearguns and over a dozen rollers and double rollers. czcams.com/video/C5WR5Kj6Ygo/video.html

Hi, should use Vulcan system on this speargun. Set it correctly and it will be a lot stronger with less recoil than Abellan Denton 130.

Yes, I watched that video and it inspired me a lot.
I tried to mount the 9mm 160 cm shaft i have on the Alemanni on my Urukay with 3 14,5 sigalsub extreme bands and results were very nice.
Not as powerful as the Alemanni but absolutely accurate (zero shaft drop) up to 6 mt.
I also tried that gun with 4 bands but the recoil was too much.
Have you ever tested the urukay? I would be very interested in seeing how it performs in your tests!!!

+antonio giunta Yes I have an Urukay 120 test that I am working on. I had to change many things in the gun to shoot well ... changed the muzzle and the way the rigging works, changed the trigger with a new trigger with back line release, changed the grip shape and changed the bands to newer small ID bands. Gun shoots fantastic now and hopefully will put up a review on it.

    Excellent Vids mate,
Looks like a lot of recoil for an invert on this gun, mind you, there is a lot of rubber/energy tied up there.
Are you an archer too?... your relaxed "follow through" after you shoot reminds me of a disciplined archer.

      @majdq8  Před 8 lety

+NPG-70 No I have never actually done archery although that sounds like fun! As for recoil ... I actually thought recoil was almost non existent. You have to realize that an 8mm @ 160cm shaft is quite heavy and thus will have more recoil than say a 7mm shaft.

+majdq8 yeah that is a lotta shaft,
I recently built up a 950 inverted that had negligible recoil but lacked power.
4 X 16 X 220mm @ 360% was as much as I could load. A third set of bands loaded afterwards are required I think.
I prefer the simplicity of a normal roller I think.

I agree ... I actually prefer even more simplicity than a normal roller. I really feel there is no need for rollers except for very small guns. At the larger sizes a roller simply does not give a performance advantage. Here is a test I did of the Abellan Denton 130 (now called Albacore 120) ... No roller gun can even come close to this performance, and it just uses a simple classic 3 band setup. Now imagine that there is also an Albacore 140 !!!
