  • Returning to my home of Tasmania after nearly 5 years overseas, I revisited the place where I fell in love with the mountains. I took the opportunity to reflect on what I've done and where I'm going. I took the time away from CZcams to discover the purpose behind what I do.
I hope you enjoy a little insight into my past. Thanks for being patient and supportive whilst I had a little break.
I got back to my roots and I'm feeling very excited for whats to come in 2023.
Special Thanks to my Jess (Wild Bonde) for the help in making this short film.

I moved to Tasmania from Western Australia late last year to push myself to get out and climb mountains every week. I’ve been loving it. Thanks for the inspiration mate.

Great personal statement. I love the " be the person who picks up the phone", someone must provide the momentum.
I would enjoy hearing your path from there to Barcelona and the Pyrenees. I discovered Torla-Ordessa a few years ago and was enchanted.

  • @eamonsrockymountainadventu2296

Awesome video Chase, glad we got to hear your story. I've been doing the mountainproof ankles program now for 11 weeks and I can't thank you enough. My ankles feel so much more stable and I've regained a lot of confidence because of it.
Just a thought on Mentors. You are absolutely right, they are hard to find. I learned nearly everything I know about the outdoors from youtube and first hand experience. It is not impossible to be a self taught outdoorsman. I remember when I was in my mid teens and I would day dream about becoming a real adventurer and going on expeditions into the wilderness. I've now become that person I imagined myself becoming as a kid and I was able to do it on my own. It just goes to show that if you want something bad enough you can obtain it if you put in the time, energy, and in the case of mountains: footwork.

Lovely personal video. And a great call out to all of us to take responsibility not just for ourselves, and not just in the outdoor life (that's not my calling) but for others too, and in many walks of life.
Brilliant thing your building. I'm going to be diving more full into your elements program shortly, but I really feel the difference in the work I've already done since I discovered your vids. Recommended, for anybody who's reading and wants to have a stronger and, specifically, a more flexible, functional body. I think Chase is the best online.

As someone who had the privilege of calling Tasmania home for several years, my love for that place runs deep. Even now, long after leaving, whenever I stumble upon images or footage of its magnificent wilderness, my heart swells with emotions. It's a bittersweet mixture of nostalgia, longing, and an overwhelming sense of peace that is truly beyond words.
There's an enchantment about Tasmania's wilderness that captures my soul in ways I can hardly describe. I know it's a cliche but It's as if the very essence of nature's raw beauty jolts me back into an indescribable tranquillity. In those moments, I feel a profound connection to something greater than myself, something that washes away the trivialities of the frenzied rat race I find myself entangled in once again.
Tassie, I hope to reunite with you someday and experience your magic once again.

Thank you for sharing this, Chase. As someone who struggles with getting out there and meeting my fitness goals, it's honestly an inspiration to hear anyone can still do it even after some long while spent on other distractions. My main struggle is building up the muscle and fitness I need to overcome my disability, club foot. Kinda makes training more difficult, because my ankle comes up when I do squats for instance, but I'm still getting stronger and making progress. I'm very interested to hear your ideas and where you go with it this year. I love your hike leadership idea! I definitely want to be part of that. Cheers! Todd

Nice video, and like some others, I appreciate your initiative to encourage others to take the first step, be leaders, and “make the call”. Reminds me of a saying that I interpret as part of the same genre -

My experience is similar. My grandfather was a Scout leader and my dad and his brothers were outdoorsy guys when they were younger so I had a few cool experiences camping and hiking when I was a kid but then did do much when I was a teenager and young adult. Rediscovered and fell in love with hiking and the outdoors in my late 20s and now I'm catching up with my fitness. I'm always the one initiating the hikes and adventures now, and I have 2 kids so I'm trying to get them out as much as possible.

Chase, thank you very much for your recent comments about fully guided climbing. The costs in terms of life to the Sherpa people is inexcusable, just for the sake of getting some rich, spoiled client to the top of Everest, or another 8000er. Mountaineering is an individual sport that requires individual skill and competency. Hand holding and route finding by one’s servant doesn’t qualify you as a mountaineer.
