    Everything I’ve bought for the radio install:
    Radio: Sony DSX-A415BT
    Front Speakers: Sony XS-R1646 6.5”
    Rear Speakers: Sony XS-R4646 4x6”
    The little cubbyhole that will go in place of your CD player (if vehicle is equipped), speaker harness’, radio harness adapter, and Antenna Adapter all are Metra brand. I bought this and the radio from Crutchfield, just put your vehicle year and model and it’ll give you everything you need. I bought the speakers separately from Walmart. As for the Metra stuff, you can search it up on Amazon with the year of the truck.

    I went through similar with a pioneer setup in a early 94 Chevy Silverado extended cab short bed z71, but I am probably going to change the rear speakers again I don't really care for them, but I got it with those in it and judging by what I found when I checked the front one's I need to pull them anyway. I had one not working until it was louder volume and you hit a bump then it would work fine til the next bump, that's because one the wires were cut,two wrapped in clear packaging tape and three the metal edge of one side of the speaker opening sticks out more so you're supposed to put the side with the terminals on the speaker in the opposite direction,hence why my speaker was messing up it was grounding out on the dash,glad my windshield doesn't leak lol..

    When installing a radio keep in mind if you start adding stuff you might need to upgrade your alternator. These older trucks take 85,100,105 amp alternator. Napa sells alternator brand new 160 amp alternator. If you start adding light bars and other lighting along with amps and speakers don’t over look the alternator. Try to buy a new alternator and not a reman. Remans come with shortlives and issues

    nice job on your first install. Use the metal shielding to lock the radio into place by pushing the tabs up. Makes it unable to slide out.

    Great video, just got all my stuff from crutchfield as well for a 97 gmc 2500. I was hoping you did the component speakers in the front, as I got 5 1/4 components, I’m hoping everything fits in nicely in the doors, the rear speakers are going to be a nightmare, but I’ll take my time. Also in the 618 area

      Helped my little sister install speakers in her 98 gmc today. She got JBL 6.5 component speakers. Had to take most of the plastic pieces off the new JBL tweeters so it was the smallest it could be. I used a Dremel to carve off plastic to fit the new tweeters in the old tweeters spot this also ensured that grate would fit back over the new tweeters. Used foam tape around the circumference of the tweeter so it doesn't rattle against plastic and used JB weld to adhere it in place as I did not have speaker adapter rings for tweeters and did not have much room to drill holes for screws. The big speakers in the bottom of the door went in much easier and to get them put in place all I had to do was drill holes.

    • @SouthernIllinoisBowhunting
      @SouthernIllinoisBowhunting  Před 2 lety +1

      Bass is decent. Honestly, I went a little cheaper on the speakers. So if you want more punch, I’d suggest a different speaker. A Sub will really bring out the bass.

    • @SouthernIllinoisBowhunting
      @SouthernIllinoisBowhunting  Před 3 lety

      The speakers come with wires to hook up to the speaker itself. Just look up what the colors are on your year of truck and match it up.

    • @EvalConservative
      @EvalConservative Před 3 lety +2

      The best thing to do is to carefully break the connector off the shit factory speaker. Then solder leads from the new speakers into the factory speaker connector so you can plug it into the factory plug hanging at the hole.
