    Two days in the freezer worked. First used a screw driver as suggested in video. Loosen nicely. Finished by putting a wood dowel in the output and tapped lightly. That had the black nylon cartridge Cooke out of the metal cage very easily. Thanks for a very accurate video!

    Well done video! Very descriptive and thorough, demonstrating the potential problems in the video is a good idea. Thanks, Nick!
    Mine had the cycling problem. Checked the inlet filter and found it had residue. Flushed it clean and problem solved! No need to tear my machine apart. Glad you mentioned that bit early on in the video, saved me lots of time and un-necessary work. Mine is many years old, had good use, and this is the first problem. Never knew there was a filter! Easy fix. I disagree with those who say that it's a poor product. For occasional home use, can't be beat for the price/performance.

    Actually I answered myself. My pressure washer is a Kingcraft which is an exact copy of Karcher K5. It had no pressure at the gun and constantly turned on and off when the trigger is released. I have put it apart and ordered new sealings from my local car parts shop - 3 x 12x20x5 high pressure sealings for water and 3 x 12x20x4/5 for oil. The original oil sealing is 12x20x4/6, but I couldn't find it anywhere so I ordered them with 1mm less oil washer which I think is going to work fine.

    Other than getting the hose connector turned around (watch out for that one), the machine is simple to put together and use czcams.com/users/postUgkxfQauTxLT0JLSvqkq10rD79TU4k0Vz8zP . And very nice, too. I'm surprised at the power-it's more than we'll ever need, and we've not even used the most powerful setting yet.I've cleaned off a dirty concrete porch to get it ready for sealing, started to clean siding, and I know this pressure washer will be terrific for cleaning tools this fall.The only issue we had is we had turned around the hose connector, and it leaked. Once it was on correctly, though, we had no problems with the connection. Just remember that the end with the green knob goes towards the hose. It's obvious now what we did wrong, but not necessarily obvious at the time.

  • @TheTrthseeker
    @TheTrthseeker Před 8 lety +1

    First thank you, for your introduction. I first tried to bleed it, darn if it didn't work, came back and listened again. I had to slow the video down for me, and listen three times. 'Turn it off; turn the water on a minute, and take the power wand off. and let the water flow!' [a reading note may have helped me]. I talked to myself on the way to the garden. I thought I was going to get blown by the water, but assured myself; "it is turned off." Okay, you can laugh at me! None of their attachment areas are user friendly and I have the hardest time just turning mine [K3] on/off with the recessed design. The hose attachment is most difficult, as I always have to twist the hose to get the hose on, as their connector hardly turns in the direction needed; even in warmer weather. Now for the power wand...I had to turn my unit on its back and push all of my weight to put it using the spring system; difficult taking it off, but I did it! I don't have man's hands!After I did as you said, as I had my 'mantra' going; IT WORKED, but it did cut off again. I had read at the Karcher site, prior to finding yours, that humidity and an electrical power supply could cause it to shut off, but I left it for 30 minutes as suggested, and checked all GFI units; all outlets worked, but their suggestion did nothing. I did the same as you suggested; the same steps and VICTORY, it was great, so YOU ARE THE MAN! It has been working well today, with only problems with the hose kinks, but I realized my location is what is causing most of the issue. I am on a ladder cleaning gutters, and I don't have my unit elevated enough/ I am not brave enough to be on the hot roof. I am using the wand horizontally, consequently the 1600 PSI is not powerful enough to go one story up. I have been stopping and spraying down every now and then, so as not to repeat yesterday's issue...cannot thank you enough.I have a smaller unit in the basement that I got repaired here in Rockford for $40, and it took a long time, so by the end of the season, I just stored it. I should have tested it, because it didn't work at all. the serviceman said, "you got trash in the wand!" Yeah, right! This town is famous for just what happened there, so I try to fix things myself, so tired of being scammed and ripped off! I will try this method on the other... Again Thank You!

    yes it does sound like a seal problem, did find them to be cracked. if that doesn't fix your problem check the control head or cylinder head for cracks. sound like you have it under control, let me know how you went with your seal price wise to save people money. thanks

  • @ncuxapamz
    @ncuxapamz Před 11 lety

    So after spending aprox. $5 for sealings (which turned out to be just like the original karchers. don't know why they want $30 for them...) I discovered that the head has a tiny crack. I gave it a thought and it turned out that I don't have any glue strong enough to fix it but I have an idea of where to find someone who can fix it. For the DIY enthusiasts - search for sealings at SKF dealers or places where they sell similar replacement sealings, joints, etc.

    Hi Nick,
    you ever heard of a unit just starts and stops. If I work with the unit is fine...but when I stop it starts giving off sound like starting stopping, and no pressure and water comes out unless I turn the unit off and than back on....I will try making a video next time I use it

  • @siduolocin
    @siduolocin  Před 11 lety

    hi,
    I think its more got to do with your pressure sensor (unloader valve), lets just say eg.. the pressure sensor turns off power when the water hits 200psi. when you turn on the power for the first time the water will billed up to 200psi then will turn off. when you hold down the trigger the water pressure is at 100psi the motor is running at 100% and can't pump water faster to get to the 200psi so it dose not shut off.

    i think it works like this say karcher has 2 types for example. 1 with plastic internal parts and 1 with metal internal parts. the metal one is stronger and can last for longer periods of time without cracking or melting in industrial use. but it will rust and stop working after EG 4year. the plastic one will not rust and will last longer then 4years. but will wrack or melt easily after EG 15mins of continues use.

  • @siduolocin
    @siduolocin  Před 11 lety

    hi bitealarm
    do you mean control head and cylinder head? if you can see if you can see exactly where its leaking from, hose connects (new seals or plumber tap (i have used)), seals where the control head and cylinder head meet (change the seals), or a crack in the plastic of control head and cylinder head (you will need to buy a new one $30). if it not coming from the hose connects and dont want the hustle just change the control head and cylinder head for $50 then it will be like new. power too

  • @siduolocin
    @siduolocin  Před 11 lety

    1# unloader valve. take apart the unit, follow the detergent tube, on the opposite end of the valve where it connects there will be a valve. take off the valve and clean it and the bore
    2# your gun might be blocked and therefore it hits the 200 psi when runing and shuts off (alot more pressure is on mist) pull apart your trigger and see if its blocked

    I couldn't exactly catch which is the defective part - the plastic rings ot the rubber sealings. I have a broken karcher 5.something with exactly the same problem. I am currently waiting for duplicates of the plastic rings but made out of aluminum. I made some research and found out that the rubber sealing are not standard. Do you know if they are available to buy somewhere.
    p.s. Thanks for the "how to". It's very usefull.

    i just boughr a karcher k2 plus... and its really straight forward to put together but the ptessure is really really bad... like pathetic.... i will do as this suggests but i bought this today snd if it doenst work i will takr it back.... this has zero power... my normal hose with a hose fittinf has far more power than this thing....

    The easiest way to fix these, is to take them to your local road train assembly area & have them run over it.

    My Karcher pressure washer will not start. There is no sound. I attempted to determine if the Ground fault circuit interrupter is working properly, and was unable to get any readings through from the terminals to the plug other than the ground. I have replaced the GFI temporarily with a normal plug, and there is no change, the motor does not start and there is no motor sound?

      Followed the video, and on removing the 4 large bolts, got oil all over the place. The "fix" for pulsating issue did not work for me.

    Hi nick, cheers for the great video, helping me as mine was leaking. Taking it apart like your video, got to the part at 8.03 where the spring pops out of the control head, i had a look at a diagram here for mine,
    ransomspares.co.uk/diagram/karcher/pressure-washer-spares/483361/kb403-wb%20gb%20%281.423-356.0%29/
    I cant see part no 35 (cage complete)? Does it pop out with the spring? Cant see in the video. Any ideas?
    Also found the seals cracked in the cylinder head, spot on!
