    If the bald spot you mentioned is because she is starting to go into a molt, then, you don't prevent it. It can be different from gouldian to gouldian how hard they molt when they go into a molt. Some molt a little bit at a time and some go into a hard molt. A few of mine hard molts, so they go 90% bald before they start looking like a hedgehog with all the pin feathers coming out. What you can do for them is to make sure they have enough amino acids in their food, and protein, since they are changing out a substantially large part of their overall body protein. It's said that molting for gouldians can be up to 3 times as stressful of the birds as producing and laying eggs are.

    Well, I would recommend you to keep an close eye on the gouldian finch. Make sure that it gets vitamin A and D in sufficient amount cause mostly it leads to molting but sometimes it can be some pesky face mites. Good luck with the rest of the work. Bye👋

    The female is only moulting. Some birds due to genetics can show bald areas like this. Adding oyster shell grit and crushed hens eggshells to the daily diet will help ensure she gets enough iodine, which can help, but if all the other birds are fine, it is not going to be iodine deficiency. Keep an eye out that other birds are not picking on her too, pulling out her feathers.

    Hello!
    I have a question, how do you keep your bird room free of dusk? I mean not completely free but clean, also how do your birds get fresh air?
    Thanks

    • @MrAviary
      @MrAviary  Před rokem +1

      I can put open a window and the door is used a lot so they do get fresh air regularly. Free of dust is impossible, i try to have not much other than the cages in there so it is easy to clean weekly
