Sometimes you just need a break from the cruising life. After our friends left us in the Seychelles, we ended up waiting TWO MONTHS for a weather window to sail down to Madagascar. Rather than sail the same path around the islands, we elected to just enjoy marina life for a while. And we're glad we did!
We got into an exercise routine, worked hard on videos and still managed to get out and explore Mahe! Renting a car for a day, we drove around the whole island, eating some delicious local delicacies, stopping at more gorgeous Seychelles beaches and watching a stunning sunset at Beau Vallon.
And because we waited long enough, our friends Carlos and Linda from the boat Mirniy Okean (@22South) caught up to us after they diverted course due to a problem with their autopilot. We took them on a hike up the Capolia trail for another amazing view (watch that last step!) before finally getting a good enough weather window to head south.
What a way to end up our time in the Seychelles!

It has been a struggle to keep doing all the videos during our travels with the time and effort involved in making them. Taking a bit of a break from everything and enjoying marina life let us hit the reset button so to speak. Now there's a light at the end of the tunnel and we're excited to share the rest of the videos from our whole circumnavigation!

We weren't expecting much, but to be honest, we both now put Seychelles pretty high up on our favorites list. It may be because it is absolutely beautiful, but it may also be because it's a great place to take a "break" from cruising for a bit! 😆
Hey guys, would you mind showing what you did with your trampoline?

Hi Lance. Sorry, we didn't really pick up the camera for almost 2 months while we were in the marina so no footage of the trampoline project. But it's fairly easy to describe. I went one side at a time, unlashing the previous line. I then took the new line, lashed it to a fixed point on the crossbeam or one of the 'studs' on deck, and then ran the line through the trampoline and around studs in the pattern you can see in the video. Once I reached the end of that side, I did another lashing to help keep it tight.
It's a bit tricky to keep proper tension on the trampoline to try and keep an equal distance between the hull and the trampoline on all sides. I did have to loosen one side and tighten the opposite a bit more, but it all comes out in the end.
