    I just opened my black HP62XL cartridge. 20-30 minutes of using a heavy-duty Olfa knife with a heavy-duty (and fresh) blade. I opened it pretty cleanly (I think), but it wasn't easy. I used eye protection and an illuminated magnifier on a stand. Haven't done the rest -- I'll report back once I am done. Just wanted to point out that these cartridges are sealed HARD. I had to use a GREAT DEAL of force. I'm experienced with tools of all sorts but recognized the possibility of ending up with a broken or non-broken blade embedded in some part of my body. To be safe: 1) take your time, 2) blade movements must be AWAY from all parts of your body (fingers, arms, etc.), 3) have only the TIP of the blade protruding from the knife so it won't break off, 4) do this on a stable protected surface, 5) maybe use a bench vise. When I do this for my color cartridge I'll try a Dremel (with an EZlock cutting blade) to cut from the TOP (not the side). From the top so I can control how far I go down.

    I bought the kit probably a year ago and printed regularly as i needed it. Worked well with the occasional clogs as i reused a old dried cartridge. I would run into some issues as no printing or faded black prints but it was just from the crappy cartridge I never really cleaned. Finally cleaned it well and unclogged it and I actually didnt need to print anything for months, (go figure lmao). Didnt use it for four months and needed to print a label and to my surprise it worked flawlessly first print. Saved me a ton, install is a bit tricky but if you get it down itll save you ridiculous amount of money and print for pennies. Biggest issue i found was forcing all the air bubbles out where it prints. I used a lot of ink and the vacuum method to pull the air out till i went and bought a syringe to push out their air bubbles which worked a lot better.
    Ps my printers hp software did bug out everytime i removed the cartridge which was frustrating, i just drilled a hole at the top of the retaining clip for the cartridge where i can remove the plug and fill without removing it and getting the stupid replace cartridge message. Just keep it filled and dont let it run dry or youll have to remove it and force the air bubbles out of the bottom where ink prints to get a decent print which gets messy.
    Screw you printer companies selling cartridges for 30 bucks when it costs them 25 cents to make

    Hi Friend, Interesting, but I am afraid there is a reason for the sponge to be within, and that I reckon, is it regulates the ink flow. By removing the sponge, you could accommodate more ink within, but I believe the flow downward goes unchecked. Thus, the mess caused by the smudginess. Anyway, it's a bold and creative attempt, which I guess would break the Manufacturers' profit margins, and eventually they might invent more foolproof cartridges. Thanks n Best wishes.

      That is why there is a pressure regulator built-in on the new cover. You cannot just use any cover. It has to have a regulator for the pressure.

    Spongeless cartridge is hard to believe, the filter will be not able to handle Ink weight. Ink will be leaking.
    Are you change the filter with something more reliable?
    Thanks.

    Your videos are great. Looking forward to trying them out to get my printers working again. Do you have a video explaining why you can have cartridges with and without a sponge? If a cartridge works just as well with a sponge taken out, as is shown here, what is the point in having a sponge in the first place? Shame I can't buy from BHC. I'm in England and usually the shipping and import tax makes it uneconomical. Keep up the good work. Thanks.

    • @BCHTechnologies
      @BCHTechnologies  Před 5 lety +4

      The sponge is a pressure regulator. So, the new cover replaced the bulky pressure regulator (sponge) with a small pressure regulator. You will see the white things inside the cover. Those are air pressure regulators.

    • @SirPrancelot1
      @SirPrancelot1 Před 5 lety +2

      @@BCHTechnologies Thank you! I appreciate the explanation. I will look at your website. I read one comment that said they were surprised that shipping was a reasonable price to the UK. One problem is that Customs and Excise can charge tax and charge you for the privilege of collecting it! Would like to try though. I managed to get my HP working after soaking the cartridge print heads overnight in hot water, was lucky enough to be staying somewhere with a range type cooker so left them on the top of that, and then vacuuming them through wet kitchen paper with the Hoover. Put them back in the printer and out shot a perfect (well, to me) test sheet! Thanks again, had almost given up. Had been looking at a new toner printer but no more.....

    Hi Kevin I had a punctured filter and I realized the filter really is needed or else the printhead get clogged very very fast. I recleaned it and replaced the filter with a piece of thick canvas i stuck with superglue. It works as in it doesnt get clogged anymore. The issue however (the reason i took it appart in first place) is that whenever i leave my cartridge without use overnight, it fills with air between the nozle plate and the filter/sponge, but if i "prime" it (suck ink out of the nozzle/blow inside the cartridge) before use it works and proably would print 100s of pages. What do you think could be the problem? I think the sponge might be absorving the ink between the noozle plate and the filter, but this makes no sense since that would go against gravity and i dont think this ink has such a great surface tension. I guess i could block the noozles contct with air (seal them when not in use) so this wont happen. now i think about it, it's probably the one way valves that are in every HP nozzle are broken so they dont prevent tha air from getting in.
    PS: Of course i know this is a waste of time and i can get a new one i am just curious and want to fix it for some reason hahaha. Your videos kinda helped me though (unlike others out there that made me lose a cartridge because i left it in bleach overnight....).

    I am so thrilled to know about the work that you are doing with ink cartridges. I have a KODAK VERITÉ CRAFT 6 ANNA GRIFFIN EDITION ALL IN ONE PRINTER it is made for crafting but it uses a lot of ink. It does not have an ink tank, is it possible to install an ink tank on this type of printer? If it can be done, how much would you charge to do this for me? I live in Greenville NC and am impressed that you are willing to tackle the large ink cartridge industry.

    Dear BCH I just buy demo kits to test your product. However in this video you mix the testing and priming of sponeless with sponge cartridge. I need to see how you get a spongeless black and colour sample to work from start to finish.... Also with HP cartridge protection software i can not interchange cartridges between printers any help to neutralise this ?

      There is no sensor on the ink absorber. Canon just count how many times you did head cleaning. Then, you need a software to override the number and make it zero. I know there are videos showing you how to press a sequence of keys. I haven't tried those yet.

    Not a good tutorial! Your video has two different method. One with sponge and the other is spongeless! You did not show how to make the ink flow smoothly and there is no proof that it really works cause you videoe are not continous from start to finish!

    I'm sorry but tap water is way to hard to clean printer ink cartridges and the filters in the cartridge. you should only use deionised water that has 0 parts per million. That's my view as the holes in the printer head are to small and tap water could clog them up.
