Jennifer went home and Fantasia went on to win that season. If Jennifer had won then she would have been signed to a recording contract. Since she wasn’t under contract to someone else, she was available to star in Dreamgirls! From then on her world changed and she achieved more than she probably would have if she had won American Idol that season. 😊

I love how, from the beginning, she was always confident, she knew her worth and knew what she had to bring to the table. Even with the criticism she got, she kept her head up and trusted the process, keeping faith in herself and her abilities. She never got cocky, she always stayed grateful, humble and patient. I believe that is what got her to where she is in her career today.

Brandon C -That is absolutely right. Once you get to a certain point demographics and voting blocks come into play. This has happened through out the history of the show. You can almost predict who will leave under these sort of circumstances. Similar vocalists do tend to eliminate each other. You also need to add the fact that Chicago had power failures that night and that is a major area from which the diva's voting block comes from. Add all those things together and this is what can happen.

George was instructed to join the Top 3 winning group. It is ironic how he went straight to the group that were told they were the bottom 3. And he approached joining that group with intrepidation (obvious he felt inferior to the 3 divas). So in George’s mind, being told to go and join the top 3, he saw JHud, Fantasia and LaToya as the winners. Proof, even from another contestant, he thought they should have been in the Top 3
I think I remember Ryan Seacrest said that they didn’t have enough votes and that’s why he screamed at the end “YOU HAVE TO VOTE FOR THE TALENT” and I think producers were just as shocked that them 3 were in the bottom

I have always wondered how Simon's attitude toward her, early in the competition, impacted this outcome. Of course, we have the benefit of hindsight to know that this just fueled Jennifer's fire to become a star. What an amazing success story!!

If i'm not mistaking, on this particular night there was a TERRIBLE thunderstorm in Chicago. The internet/phone lines were down so many that would have voted for Jennifer could not get through the voting system.
Add the fact that people tend to vote in blocks. They vote for they type of singer rather for who does the best vocal. JH, Fantasia and Latoya would be competing for the same block of voters and thus would cancel each other out. It wouldn't have mattered because JH who was my favorite had no chance to win that season. Neither did Latoya. They were fast tracking Fantasia to win early on. Simon stated after their first competitive number that She was the best singer in the show. Far to premature to make such a statement unless it is to influence the final outcome. As I said I liked JH voice the best. Fantasia sounded to munchkiny for my taste. Latoya was the best blend between the two.

Yoday is July 31th 2022 and i was in highschool when it aired here in my country, she is the reason why i start to love soul music! I am still emotional everytime i am awatching it but She prove AMERICA IS WRONG! She's a shining star even up to this day . Fantasia deserved it too. ONLY OF 2 of them!
How they announced which group was the bottom group was class less. You just don't do that. I mean everyone in that group thought they were justifiably safe. Then to pull the rug from out of them like that was just cold. It seems that JH had a premonition that she would be the one going home.
And as of tonight she isn’t just THE most successful American Idol Alum, she is one of THE MOST successful and decorated artists ANYWHERE on this planet, because she just won a Tony Award, which made her one of only 17 EGOT winners in the history of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony awards.
If you are saying she is the most successful because of her Oscar win, then okay. But I would argue she is ONE OF the most successful. Kelly and Carrie are huge superstars! I would argue as far as a musical career, they have been more successful.

One of the strangest moments in American Idol history. It was only rivalled by Adam Lambert not winning. When you saw what Jennifer Hudson did after Idol you realized that she was amazingly talented. The winner this season should have been either Hudson or Latoya London. They were two of the best ever Idol contestants. It's amazing how close Fantasia was to finishing 7th and then she ended up winning the whole thing. But Hudson has been the biggest star from this group since then.
The whole world went crazy when Latoya, Jennifer, and Fantasia were all in the bottom three together. All three ended up singing together in the last episode of American Idol ever before it got revived.
She should have won, I think, then went and won a fricken *OSCAR* WOW, Jennifer Hudson is THE awesomest success story of any talent show. The downside to all that though was her relatives being murdered. So harsh n cruel for her after all those incredible highs in her life. What a star!

Clive Davis was the one who wanted JHUD to be in the autobiography moive. Aretha Franklin wanted Halle Berry to portray her, but she said no way, I will have to lip sync the song lyrics. Clive wanted real vocals and a soundtrack album for Ms.Jennifer Hudson to sing on. This was a big deal and big🤑 contact for this project. Brandon C -That is absolutely right. Once you get to a certain point demographics and voting blocks come into play. This has happened through out the history of the show. You can almost predict who will leave under these sort of circumstances. Similar vocalists do tend to eliminate each other. You also need to add the fact that Chicago had power failures that night and that is a major area from which the diva's voting block comes from. Add all those things together and this is what can happen.

Judges comments. “You are the best singer in this competition” etc. “This competition is not a popularity contest” (young voters were turning it into exactly that).
George was instructed to join the Top 3 winning group. It is ironic how he went straight to the group that were told they were the bottom 3. And he approached joining that group with intrepidation (obvious he felt inferior to the 3 divas). So in George’s mind, being told to go and join the top 3, he saw JHud, Fantasia and LaToya as the winners. Proof, even from another contestant, he thought they should have been in the Top 3

Add the fact that people tend to vote in blocks. They vote for they type of singer rather for who does the best vocal. JH, Fantasia and Latoya would be competing for the same block of voters and thus would cancel each other out. It wouldn't have mattered because JH who was my favorite had no chance to win that season. Neither did Latoya. They were fast tracking Fantasia to win early on. Simon stated after their first competitive number that She was the best singer in the show. Far to premature to make such a statement unless it is to influence the final outcome. As I said I liked JH voice the best. Fantasia sounded to munchkiny for my taste. Latoya was the best blend between the two.

How they announced which group was the bottom group was class less. You just don't do that. I mean everyone in that group thought they were justifiably safe. Then to pull the rug from out of them like that was just cold. It seems that JH had a premonition that she would be the one going home.

One of the strangest moments in American Idol history. It was only rivalled by Adam Lambert not winning. When you saw what Jennifer Hudson did after Idol you realized that she was amazingly talented. The winner this season should have been either Hudson or Latoya London. They were two of the best ever Idol contestants. It's amazing how close Fantasia was to finishing 7th and then she ended up winning the whole thing. But Hudson has been the biggest star from this group since then.
The whole world went crazy when Latoya, Jennifer, and Fantasia were all in the bottom three together.
All three ended up singing together in the last episode of American Idol ever before it got revived.

This was the worst bottom, when all three of them to me should have been safe. Praise God, Ms. Jennifer Hudson went on to become an EGOT. Ms. Fantasia Barrino won Idol on that season, and Latoya London released her album "Love and Life"and performed in several stage plays.These three beautiful ladies has done great things.
