2016 my states legislature passed a bill that limited public school funding, so it could be funneled over to private schools.
A majority of our youth are in public schools. However almost ALL public officials kids are in private schools. Wonder why...

My son, who had been a volunteer firefighter since he was a sophomore in high school, went on to become a lieutenant in the fire station because he wanted to serve his community, decided to he wanted to switch over to the police force to see if he could help his community better by helping those on the street make better decisions and help them find a way off the streets, this happened just before George Floyd, he spent a lot of time and money personally to do this, went through the rigorous training, made it, and then the riots started, that didn't bother him, he thought they had a reason to protest, he even supported the protest, then came the defund the police movement, and the movement to prosicute the police and my son finally decided, why should I risk not only my life, but my families life trying to help my community if they are only going to turn on me if I, or, one of my coworkers makes a mistake one day,
People make mistakes at their jobs all the time, but being a police officer nowadays means, if you have one bad day, it could cost you and your family everything.
I could write a book to explain even more of this and devastating it was for me to see a son give up on a life long dream of becoming a good friend to his community, but,
here is a fact, people want good and smart people to serve but good and smart people won't serve if they are faced with the spending the rest of their lives being punished for doing something that they were trained to do,
a police officer job is not easy, it's not for the faint of heart, it's a thankless job where people curse at you day in and day out, nobody likes a speeding ticket, even though they were speeding, nobody likes it when they have to show up to a domestic violence call, but remember this, most of them don't like it either, they would much rather spend their time going after dangerous criminals, fact is, someone has to do it, and me personally, I would have much rather seen people like my son who's vision was really about helping people, especially those who he saw needed help more than incarceration!!!

I simply cannot imagine the frustration of an officer of the law, arresting a violent criminal, putting his/her life on the line only to have the DAs release those violent offenders back into society. Or even worse was the governors who released murderers, rapists, armed robbers, child molesters back into society in the name of "covid safety"! How in the hell is a prisoner safer on the streets than in a prison with less social contact? In my state the democrat governor released 10,000 violent offenders. I wonder how many of those released committed more murders, rapes and other violent crimes.
If a DA refuses to do the job then remove them from office for dereliction of duty! With no retirement/benefits and see how quickly they remember what their official duties are!

While crime is going up much faster than we ever imagined, I don't know of any democrat city or state that includes any funding in the fiscal budget to expand jails and prisons to house all the incoming criminals. Instead prisoners are being released sooner to make room for the new criminals.

Senator Kennedy is a state treasure! They thing I wished he would touch on is having a cooperation between high schools and trade schools. Where classes could be offered to high school students and they could graduate with a trade. Also, trouble makers in schools need to be put in separate classes so that children that want to learn can learn. More home school options for parents who want their children to Excell. And why do we have age restrictions for graduation. If a kid is too smart to sit around waiting for an age to graduate, give them other opportunities. College is not the answer anymore! Your plumber makes more than you doctor does.
I love the police and the thought of law and order but nothing is more powerful than a well-armed, highly trained U.S. citizen with a firearm to defend him/her self, their property, and their loved ones. Defend the 2nd Amendment and criminals will think twice before violating our laws, sovereignty, and personal security. Remember, the police will typically show up about 10 minutes after an emergency call comes in, which is possibly equal to your loss of life; you can bleed out in seconds, not minutes. Law abiding citizens, when facing a violent criminal, should be allowed to shoot first and ask questions later.

Public school doesn't work very well...I skipped two grades of it and still was bored with it by the end. It's not a good environment for kids to learn everything they need to know. One thing that needs to be taught in school is how electricity works. At least show the girls how to hook up some jumper cables. I went through high school and made all A's and rarely took a book home. I knew I was poor and I had one shot at it, and I graduated with a scholarship to a local college. Kids are taught history when they should be taught economics and fire building. So they get disinterested and start not paying any attention. Also why do they have it in the winter , so that kids can share colds? That never made any sense to me. They should not have to get out in the snow just to catch some other child's cold...that's not being smart. When kids are worried about being sick they are not going to be as educated as if they are not. The education system needs improved...the school should have a garden, and the kids could produce food and feel useful. And they could also help feed themselves...a very important lesson. School should be about things kids need to learn to live well. And then they will get interested and do better...show them how to make an emergency fire with tea bag strings and a magnifying glass, and see if they pay attention or not...they can get into that kind of thing, and it could save their life someday...school is antiquated, most kids aren't going to need Calculus in their life that much. There is much wrong with the things and the way kids are taught, and a lot of things needs changed. The old math problem about two guys riding horses and who will get to town first isn't useful in today's world.

I believe in giving respect when it's given. The police must also be aware of this. Personally, I've met too many arrogant police as well as politicians. I think we should be able to have a redo on the president when he's caught red handed lying. And, the Patriot act may have given some police the idea they are in charge of everything. At one time we threw a parent country out of here lock stack a barrel for their arrogance and pride. And most Americans who have been in the military soon realize that police in other countries rule for dictators. So I ask for balance on anyone's ability to take life or liberty. I believe what we have now is the pendulum is swinging against the arrogance and pride. Hopefully soon most can figure out how to settle things out.
