Hey man, the soft hose is for bleeding breaks. I have a pump just like that and like it. I agree with the warming the oil a little. Thanks for the video

Go pneumatic oil extractor, yes you need an air compressor but worth it
You'll be able to sit back make yourself a delicious chilled beverage and ponder the mysteries of the multiverse while the machine does all the work for you 👍😎

I use one similar to the HF one you have on my 1998 Z3, yes it's slow but I just let it go until its done. I've found that warming the engine, remove the oil cap and loosen the oil filter helps. Best of all, I'm not getting under the car

There’s a recall on this product, I’d double check to see if yours is defective . I’ve had the same one for almost 2 years now and works 10x better than that. I use it for 2014 328d and it sucks up 6qts of oil in a matter of minutes. Definitely seems like yours might be defective

Hmm. I'll have to look into it. My friend told me he just pumps a few times and walks away 🤔

The recall isn't on this one, it's the Holt extractor and dispenser. Has a blue top

Have the same one from Harbor Freight. I used it for an oil change on my wifes MK6 GTI, drained very little. I kept pumping and pumping and saw no new oil moving through the lines. Removed the oil pan plug and a steady flow of oil flowed from the oil pan, approx. 2 quarts.

You bought the wrong one. I bought mine off Amazon that looks the same as yours for $84 dollars. To remove 5 quarts I’ll pump mine 10 times that’s it. In around 4 minutes it removes the 5 quarts. Mine has a reverse so it then pumps it out into the 5 quart empty oil jug. So clean and easy to use.

It should go faster if you open the oil cap

I bought one of these for my MK7 GTI and I sucked 5.75 ish quarts out of 6 quarts after 5,000 miles. There was still fluid in half the hose at the end so I know it didn't get it all. When I put the new oil back in it took a full 6 and wasn't over full so I think I got majority of it. The only down side of the extractor is the oil left in the lines after pumping. Had to be careful not to set them down anywhere important

Did he run the car for a couple minutes to let the oil run more freely, it'll flow quicker.

  • @bikerdude2941
    @bikerdude2941 Před 3 měsíci

I use a similar extractor like this but there’s a tight fit on the oil stick opening which causes continuous pressure into the tank. You may have missed something in the instructions. Also warm up the car for 5 minutes.

I think the couplers are contributing to the pressure leakage. Might get new longer tubing and try again.

I have been using one of these for years now, used it on my E46 330i, my 2017 E-Klass, my 2014 Volvo S60 T5, my Nissan pickup, I will not put a car on jacks to change the oil again.

I just bought and used for the first time a version of this from Amazon. I got the 9L 'cause my Jag holds 7L. No more rollin' 'round on the floor of the garage for me! I will likely upgrade to a pneumatic version and hook it up to my compressor. No more pumping either.

To make this job easier run the car for a few mins the let it sit for about 5 mins so the oil can drain back down. Always remove the oil filter and take off engine oil cap off it helps the oil flow out faster

I might be wrong, but its probably suctioning so slow because you need to pop your oil fill cap off to speed it up, need to let air in to displace the oil, or else you are fighting a vacuum from the engine.

It's a straight 6 so at least a fair bit longer than a V6 or even a V8. Not sure it's directly comparable, but that could at least be part of it.

I'm happy that he did that review. I was thinking about getting a manual oil extractor, but no way now. I need new ramps and jack stands, but ok before buying such an extractor. I am also thinking of going to a shop but I don't trust those jiffy lube guys, they usually do more damage than good.
