We have 2005 E320 CDI. Bought it new, never saw the inside of a mercedes dealer. Do my own work. Car has 175,000 miles. Went through a water pump, transmission oil changes, serpentine belt and regular oil changes. Basically still brand new.

Can't speak for the E class. But I believe the ML 320CDI from 2008 would have the same engine and transmission. We've had the car since new, first major issue only appeared in 2019, nothing serious since. The turbo was messed up, but still impressive considering its done over 600k km. It's a trooper if you take care of it. Turn singnal light go out all the time, but I've learned how to change those in a couple of minutes

ML has the OM642 v6 diesel engine. Just as reliable, just more sensitive to prolonged oil change intervals due to a substantially longer timing chain and PCV valve really gums up the intake once it gets worn out. Take care of these 2 "problems" and it can reach the million km easily.

Nice informative video! Looking to buy a W211 E320 CDI myself, could you provide a link for the mercedes scanner you mentioned in the video or any scanner that can get the job done?

Not sure why anyone would buy a diesel. Too much maintenance to justify the fuel mileage imo. 3.2 gas engine is a gem. And the fuel mileage isn't horrible for this size car

If you're in the UK like I am, the road tax and fuel price for the v6 petrol is really expensive hence why the diesel is a lot more popular. Saying that, the diesel version is expensive to run but not as much. I'm looking to buy a 2009 E320 cdi.

Really? Why would you get taxed more? I think people here in the US will never warm up to diesels. Not enough experienced diesel mechanics, half the country has very cold winters too. Dont want to deal with glow plugs, and engine block heaters. @mishimamaster1845
