- The Chess.com Classic is the second of four tournaments preceding the Champions Chess Tour live Finals. Carlsen and Firouzja both earned spots in Division I based on their performance in the Chessable Masters, and fought their way to the Grand Finals to face each other!

The 2024 Champions Chess Tour (CCT) is Chess.com's most important event series of the year with the overall winner being crowned Tour Champion, the highest annual honor conferred by the world's largest chess platform. New for 2024, each regular season event has had its prize pool increased from $235,000 last year to $300,000-the largest ever offered for CCT events outside the Tour Finals. The pool for the Tour Finals remains $500,000 making the total available on the Tour a cool $1.7 million. Also new for 2024, the time control for every stage will be 10+2.

This is by far the best cct final I've ever witnessed. Alireza vs Magnus is without doubts the most exciting match up in this format. Also credits to Daniel and Tania for the amazing commentary.

The first was against Hikaru in a 7 days Match, where everyday they played 4 games. That match of 7 days reached the Armageddon, so you just, imagine
@@Alain9-1 They reached the first (or second i don't remmember) CCT grand final, where Magnus defeated Liren and Naka defeated Caruana, reaching the final of the gran final.
That match was a 7 days match, easy day had 4 games and in case of tie, 2 blitz games and if still tie, the armageddon.
They won 3 days each, and in the 7th day they reached Armageddon, that was a real fight

That was one heck of an experience. The tension, the commentary, the drama, the genius back and forth, loved it!
This format is by far the best chess to watch. Classical chess will never be on tv, but these quicker games certainly could. The wild scramble at the end is unreal.
Alireza show the new level of comeback
Crazy, i was counting him out during the end of the game 4th where Magnus had the win in his hands. In my mind Magnus was already champ and Alireza winning that game was actually crazy, he found very good moves after magnus blundered. That was really unexpected

Magnus was beat by Alireza 3 times neat and square in this tournament and Magnus only beat him just one time in 8 games ! Beside that they drew 4 times. That is evidence of undeniable superiority of Alireza in this tournament against Magnus. Especially since Alireza had to make two wins advance against Magnus for going through the losers branch. Plus Alireza crushed both Denis and Vincent like it was normal when Magnus struggled against both especially Vincent.
There is nothing crazy about Alireza winning, he is the clearly superior player based on these results. If they had just played a best of two games final and drawn on the 1st game then win on second game then yes that would be a little win but for god's sake they played 8 games ! Alireza with a 3 games superiority. Your comment is in denial and hypocritical. Accept the reality.

Magnus was obviously tilted and wouldve normally beaten alireza in that 4th Game. First 2 games Alireza was better, the other 2 Magnus was better. Armageddon was reached, Alireza wins gg, but after game 2 Magnus was superior and then tilted. I admire Alireza, but after banter blitz he won and a bullet marathon people were crazy calling alireza better even if in bullet, Magnus dominated Alireza like in 10 marathons.
I remmember very well people saying Alireza is better and he losing over and over against Carlsen until those comments dissappear and now again haha Magnus has almost a 2-1 scored against Alireza in CCT, don't over react yet.
I root for Alireza, i hope he comeback and thats a good win but calling him superior to Carlsen, maybe when he very often wins rapid or blitz titles like Magnus, like its nothing, i would call him better than Carlsen. In my mind, even how strong Alireza is,

@@ssep327 No hate. Alireza is my second favorite chess player, but I am being honest. Magnus was in good, but not peak form in this match. Carlsen Naka and MVL are all better though.
Not just in non-classic but also in classic....Ali has his own style whereas most of the other top 15 plays very boring chess ...and people are judging him on the basis of bad form for a few months...if you are an old chess fan you must know who Alireza is ....and he is still the best youngster...

It's always a pleasure hearing Daniel's amazing commentary. Sometimes I enjoy it more than the chess!
Initially i felt bad, he commented something like "AliReza can only win this game if Magnus blunders" which I felt was disrespectful towards him. But later he commented something similar against Magnus.
Daniel found moves in seconds that he referred to as unfindable and the players didn't find it.

As much as i like these 2, and a good majority of the commentators, i how more organized tourneys (i guess events?) adapt less talking than repeats/regurgitation. Some times, complete silence is preferred. It adds intensity. Like golf. Hold your breath. This doesn't have to be like an esports event. Let's relax a bit ya know?
