    We counted around 55 Saulosi in a 10/15 minute survey of the reef (Not the whole reef) We did lose a few fry along the way but we estimated 92 fry were released.

      Taiwanee Reef is submerged, around a 15m decent. Quite a strong current down there. We were near the top of the rocky out crops. No sand that high up to get kicked up.

      It's a very long distance from where they're bred lake side, Kambiri Point, southern arm of Senga Bay. Also the releases need to be documented. The Saulosi already on the reef and those being released are recorded.

    Maybe we baby our fish in the hobby a little too much but that looked like a stressful release in places to me. A lot of bag flapping and stressed fish. :( That said, I've not released any fish in a crocodile infested lake in scuba gear!

    • @AfricanCichlidHub
      @AfricanCichlidHub  Před 9 lety +4

      It's not every day you get to practise releasing fish from bags at around 15m deep under a lot of water pressure.
