  • The progressive tenure of Pope Francis has allowed for the rise of influential conservative cardinals. Hailing from all over the world, the traditional movement in the Catholic Church has been growing steam. Whether it’s opposition to Pope Francis’ stance on same-sex unions, his position on re-married couples participating in the Eucharist, or his pagan-oriented approach to the climate; these cardinals have voiced their disapproval. Here are four of the most conservative cardinals that have been floated as potential candidates for the papacy.

    All good candidates. The Church needs a conservative as the next Pope.

    There is no ambiguity. Remarried are a huge demographic in each parish which struggle being able to take the Eucharist, the Andean fertility goddess is a form of syncretism that the ancient Catholic Church used for the Christmas Tree and All Saint's Day among others, there's a long history of this in the Church - read St. Augustine's letter on repurposing pagan iconography for Christ. Finally, the blessing of the gay couple is a blessing of the individual as a child of God and not condoning their sinful lifestyle with a very clear statement from the Vatican explaining it. No ambiguity whatsoever.

    The opening 20 seconds of this video are misleading. There was no Patchamama at the Vatican and it was, in fact, specifically stated that same-sex couples could not receive a blessing.

    I would say,His Eminence Cardinal Peter Turkson would make a very
    good Pope.He has held high position in the Church. He is well-known
    in the Sacred College of Cardinals, the Curia and throughout
    the World. He has those qualities of Leadership to be Pope.
    In a Conclave it Our Lord Jesus who chooses the Pope.❤️🙏🏻❤️.

    No celibate Catholic cleric should have anything to say about marriage or sexual morality...so says a victim of clergy sexual assault.

    The Holy Spirit does not work through conservative contenders.. the church founded by Jesus will remain purely devotional with these conservatives.. the seed of faith Jesus planted is a life continuously germinating and growing in the hearts, minds and spirits of humans, not a rubricist rites and ceremonies that are merely physical gestures..

    There is no world where Sarah is elected, mainly now, because he is too old. He will be 79 in two weeks.
    Replace him with Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa as a realistic conservative option.
    I think Erdo is the best, realistic option, but I think Pizzaballa is the most likely candidate to emerge as the new Pontif.

    Not sure about the cardinals who voted for Paul VI were appointed by Pius XII. The college of Cardinals depleted during his pontificate. Only 53 Cardinals @ the time of his death.

    None of these conservatives, though excellent choices, will ever make it to the papacy. The college of Cardinals is stacked due to Francis appointments. Also why is Cardinal Tagle not mentioned?

      @rrickarr Před 3 měsíci +1

      He does not cause. The only confusion is those who put a bunch of human-formed dogma over the Word of God. Who is man to think that he knows better than the Lord. Jesus was also hated during his time and called a blasphemer!

    The fact that these cardinales openly oppose our current pope excludes them from the papacy. These very conservative and traditional cardinals would propably create a schism in the church. The ambiguity which is seen by a few in Pope Francis decisions and wordings are rather the only way of keeping the church together.

    Cardinal Ranjith of sri Lanka would be the best. He was the former secretary to the congregation of divine worship and sacred doctrine. Cardinal Ranjith and cardinal Robert Sarah were the two secrataries. Only difference is Cardinal Ranjith has never critisized the pope. But both think alike. Both worked with cardinal Ratzinger when he was the prefect of sacred doctrine.
