It looks like you are comparing a NEW silicone wiper vs an old rubber wiper. Seems like a fair comparison would be a new rubber wiper. Of course a new rubber wiper will look good early on. So how about a fair comparison over 6 months, 1 year etc.
The video is shows how rubber actually wears over time to the point of being ineffective

Chmelaeon still why not compare 2 new blades??? Of course new is going to perform better than old, or is that new rubber perform better than new silicone? Typical hack trying to push people into buying some ineffective product by rigging the comparisons in your favor. Sorry some people may have been tricked but not me. Try being honest, and you’ll feel better about yourself you hack.
Hard to believe that the poster keeps pushing silicone and doesn't get the point that he was truly not doing a fair comparison. I don't disagree that silicone is superior, but this video in no way whatsoever validates that when an old rubber blade is compared to a new silicone blade.

From experience while silicone are more expensive they generally hold up to cracked windshields better. My old cars windshield could eat through a new pair of wiper blades in 3-4 months, just the same spots would streak due to the crack/chip in the glass progressively cutting them in that same spot.
Silicone has held up better, but they do seem to cause more noise when the windshield is 90%+ dry (retracting swipe).
The old wiper isn’t just old - it’s positively prehistoric! I mean, wtf? dude it was made from the first ever rubber tree. Worst comparison ever.

i use rain-x to make my window hydrophobic, is it still worth doing this if you have silicone blades?
Good idea, but it's not a fair comparison because the silicone ones are new. I think that new rubber wipers would work better against old used silicone wipers

Extremely well I will also make note that I have rubber wiper blades on another vehicle that have to be replaced now I still want to do the other new to new but silicone in my experience lasts a lot longer

You were comparing old with new one..I have been using rubber wiper since 2011and still good till 2023. I would recommend rubber wiper, just don’t get super cheap or hybrid type, pure rubber is best!
You should test a two year old silicone versus a two year old rubber wiper blade for actuality

Hey thanks for the comment also you see that white SUV from the inside of the van we have rubber wiper blades on that one and they pale in comparison to the silicone ones on the van I don't know how else to put it silicone speaks for itself whether the rubber is old or new

@@raphael52 We have found that new or used rubber has more of a streaking effect on the glass then silicone
Also silicone overall is a better performing material is both clarity and longevity as it is a man made material

@@Chmelaeon thanks for the reply. When you make a video for comparison it would have been good idea to buy both new, place one of each at either side and use it for 6 months or so, then compare. Even rubber blades hold well for over 3 months.

Even new rubber wiper blades on our other vehicles have problems with streaking; they don't hug the glass like silicone does.

I had to give a thumbs down only due to the point you should have used a new rubber wiper to match that of a new silicone. We all know old ones suck. So this wasn’t that beneficial to me... sorry but thanks for the vid regardless.
