I have a TrueNAS system with my own set of pc parts, but I might buy that u green NAS box for my mom so she can have full control over her files and it go for her hp workstation that she brought many years ago that doesn’t work anymore today except for her 3 700gb hard drives and 200gb SSD.
AWESOMENESS!

Man, most of the youtubers I follow have this Ugreen NAS video.
The power of sponsorships and deadlines lol
i use a mini Lenovo ThinkCentre M715q / Ryzen 5 Pro / RAM 16Go / SSD 1To M.2 + 4To SSD as home server with proxmox (home assistant, adguard, sonarr, radarr, *rr, jellyfin, nextcloud etc)
i'm not ready to buy an NAS, found it too expensive for my use.
Interesting. Can you airdrop to it from an IOS device? That would be handy for moving content around. A lot better than USB transfer now.
I don’t think you can since it doesn’t run macOS, but that would be very cool!
I would love a NAS, but for now I use a 2nd gen Optiplex with 4x 8TB HDD's and a 2.5" SSD for Windows.
If that is connected to the network and you often access it remotely, you already have a NAS. The fact that it is an optiplex is irrelevant.
@@7MBoosted I would call what I have a file server, but a proper NAS like this can do a lot more than serve files.
@JeffWaynee I would suggest you watch some Raid Owl and Hardware Haven videos. Both have demonstrated that using a windows machine as a NAS/homeserver is completely functional. Heck, my first NAS was a Windows 7 machine that I ran a network share on, a media server, and a backup server from. With Docker on windows you can probably do just as much with what you have already compared to that 4 bay NAS.
