Dave, the battery weight distribution in this solution is better because it's more centered on the mouse axis (that's why they angled it), hence causing it's weight to be more center distributed.
The same happens with mid engine cars or electric cars where the batteries are distributed on it's center axis, causing the car to be more stable on corners.

I actually kind of appreciate the weight listing without the battery because who knows if you're gonna be buying the same battery to replace it. I'm planning to pick this up along with the lightest AAA I can find, so I'll just add the battery's weight to the mouse to know what I'm getting. I suppose listing the weight with and without the included battery would have been the better move though.
That voice over edit about the battery life @ :48 was really well done. Props, man.
You know with Dave, I always have to go back to the videos after I watched them to check if I pressed the like button or not, because it's primordial to like every single video on his CZcams channel!

I love the battery options. Several times I've gone to replace a mouse battery and I end up having the wrong type, using both AAA and AA means you can use whatever you have to get up and running (or steal from another device/remote control) until you get a new lithium to install.

To be fair, different batteries have different weight to them. They could’ve possibly went for a range to market for operable weight or just went along with the battery they’re referring to under operative time.
I had waited for this video 🤩
I game a lot and I think I've changed the battery once in 13 months on my g305 lol it's incredible how efficient things are getting
It would be an interesting video to do a comparison with different types of batteries to see which type of AA batteries would benefit the wireless mouse of this kinds. There are variables like discharge rate, rechargeable or not, room temperature vs outdoor use, cost of maintaining them, and etc.
Not into gaming at the moment, not into Mice. Still watched the whole video. Thank you, Dave. Love watching your videos and you talk.
I have a razer as well
Quite literally the best mouse out there. Simple, no overly gimicky stuff and great response.
Ergonomically the best IMO.
Ive had other high end ones with changable buttons, programmable parts, changable weighting, lighting effects etc etc etc.......all more for show than anything else. Always come back to a good simple razer mouse in the end !!!
Hey Dave, thanks for the great videos. Could you make a video about the Thunderobot 911 plus (the one with RTX 3060)? It would be really nice if you make one because I couldn't find any review in English about this Laptop on CZcams.
I've had a Razer Naga Hex Moba mouse for 4 Years; and after 4 years of sometimes pretty intense gaming, it looks and works like the day I bought it. Love Razer.
I have the Atheris and couldn't be happier - double interfaces, side buttons, small, have compartment for dongle and most importantly - double AA's instead of built-in battery - I rather quickly swap out some AA's than be tethered to the cable. Plus I have a lot of those rechargables anyway.
I have the v1 model. It was OK, but the software for it was too glitchy. It would disconnect too often and had other weird hiccups. I replaced it with a Microsoft branded mouse and had no issues since.
Have you noticed any issues with the v2?
First thing I thought of when i saw that mouse was "If you're going white you gotta go bright"

Been using this for about 4 months now.
I just started to use rechargable AAA batteries. Last about 2-3 weeks and I just cycle them. It took about 3 months for the stock lithium ion battery to die off completely while using it daily and gaming often during the week using the dongle connection. Probably about 300-400 hours of use as a guesstimation. maybe more.
For me the largest appeal was the appearance, the slight thumb indentation while not being very accented was perfect fit for me, and of course it being light and wireless.
I suppose it's worth mentioning I don't use laptops
I doubt I'll ever use another mouse for any reason aside from rugged travel.
It's not cheap for me so I'd hate to break or lose it, just a personal preference.
YESS, I WAS EXACTLY LOOKING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS
I just bought this mouse and this was exactly the kind of mouse I was looking for! I had a deathadder essentials mouse but I thought it was too big because I had grown accustom to the logitech M185. If you have a fingertip grip (not claw), this is a great mouse.
how was your experience with the essential mouse? i ordered one a few hours ago lol
@@sreehari5423 It is a good mouse. With it being wired, it works very reliably. I noticed it is best for palm grip. Something to be aware of is if you have a wrist wrest for your mouse, it will most likely be bumping into that a lot. I hope you enjoy your purchase. ☺

I still have the old Orochi V1 and I’m glad to see they removed those annoyng buttons from the right side, they were really in a bad position causing accidental presses all the time. The first thing I did was disable them on the Razer app. I want to try this new one to see if they improved the sensor and the bluetooth wich it was terrible for gaming anything, I’m still using mine wired to the Pc USB. Also, it looks like they removed the front USB of the mouse, if it’s true, that is definitely a downgrade from the old one I have here. I think I take good care of my stuff cuz’ when I bought that mouse, people were talking very bad on Razer products quality. I cannot complain about them (beyond that crappy synapsys 2.0) this mouse is lasting almost 4 years and still working fine. Sometimes I have to press a little harder but still impressive. Dave if you have a spare one there I’m accepting donations! Hahah 👌🏻

Thanks for mentioning the left handed issues. Also, a second advantage to the Lithium AA/AAA batteries is that they do not leak, period.
To anyone considering this mouse, it does NOT have a proper on-board memory profile even though the product page says it has 1. This means that it's impossible to store macros on-board the mouse, and you must have Synapse open to use any macros.

I loved my Razer Orochi V1. My most well built (Razer) mouse, lasted for ~7 years. It's actually still working, but I retired it because the paint job was cracking. 😂
Let's see how long this version lasts.
is it still going good
Whoa 7 years...
My modded ali shell g305 is 59 grams with usb c aaa battery. And this is with rubber grip tapes on both sides.
Perfect weight balance on the middle (better than the back heavy g pro which I returned because of that).
Perfect sensor, battery life and weight! Though you need to mod it (easy when you do it slowly).
love your reviews man. 👏
Super awesome mouse imo. Also incredibly cool how Razer is doing a bunch of collabs with creators, esports teams, and people who actually sell their custom painted mice. Awesome job connecting with the enthusiast community Razer!
Don’t tell me nobody noticed Dave’s slick voice edit @0.52 🙆🏻🔥
I got G305 and Razer Viper ultimate after your recommendation and never looked back!
I agree, going with the AAA on one metric, going with the LIT AA on the other metric is just weird.
Consistency is key, and they have none.
I'll just stick with my set of viper ultimates as I copped two more at $99.99
Using G305 for nearly 3 years(had it since launch), this mouse is super solid especially with lithium battery. With lithium the weight at the back is reduced noticeably because the balance of the mouse shifted to the middle, and the battery life is amazing, using it for office work and gaming a lot with this mouse and the battery last for 2 years. Is it the time to shift to razer orochi 2 ? lol
Had mine for 2 years. It developed massive double clicking issues and my mb5 died after a year. Soldered kailh 8.0 on left mb and the side buttons and now I tap heads. I also have the orochi v2 and tbh its a big fucking upgrade from the g305. Better weight distribution, better switches, lighter, and better feel/shape for me (I use fingertip). You should try it
@@aaronmiguel2036 mine got double clicking at mb 3(scroll click) and mb5 also died rn. LOL. Served me well
@@handriady just traded my orochi v2 to a Model D- Wireless. Hopefully this wont break and stuff hahaha. I recommend you to change to orochi v2 my guy. Its a v big upgrade from a G304 and its worth the price (very good sensor, good switches, good build quality, aftermarket skates compatibility, and you can buy replaceable shell covers if yours breaks)
Cell upgrade made a pretty big difference in my G305 - Went from a Duracell AA to a Lithium AAA. You can feel the drop in weight and improvement in weight distribution....
Indeed... Even force adapting a AAA battery balance my G304(s) so well that it feels like a wireless diamondback
Do you mean lithium AA?
I did a G Pro 3d print mod with mine. LOD got messed up but it's was a fun project and I use it while gaming sometimes

Dave, would love to hear your thoughts on the best battery operated keyboard!!
Hey Dave, you'll probably never read this, but have you checked out the 3D Connexion mini CAD mouse? I've been using it for years because it has a middle wheel button. High polling, light, great battery lift, it's a win-win for CAD during the day and gaming in the evening.
Still hoping to see Dave's breakdown or review of the G305, I was sad that it wasn't featured in last year's mouse tier list.
g305 is outdated orochi v2 is much better
@@FactsofWorldCountries but its also double the price in most cases, of course it's a better mouse but you pay for it, the g305 can consistently be found for around the 30 dollar mark so it's honestly not in the same playing field, until the orochi V2 goes down in price the g305 is still a fantastic budget option
I normally use a corsair M65 RGB Elite on my desktop and it's the only mouse I have enjoyed using for years now because of my grip. Just today I picked up a Logitech G305 for my laptop that's on the way. I plugged it in and it actually is very comfortable for me to grip and performance is great. If you are on the fence about it I don't see any reason to spend anymore money on a different wireless mouse. I would have considered the G703 if the battery life was better. I saw the razer orochi v2 right next to it but the price difference was noticeable. Can't picture it being worth it as they are both basically doing the same thing and in almost the exact same shape.
@@ILLTh1ef orochi is 10x better
@@FactsofWorldCountries what makes it that much better??
The last wireless mouse I owned was the Logitech g700s and I didn’t like it. Thinking about checking them out again.

As a g305 user this is a must buy for me. Thank you for the review Dave.
What exactly makes it a "must buy" for you?
@@BlazevicJosip Are you asking me generally or are you asking me in a way to get a rise out of me?
@@rometherevenant8749 Well, I’d like to know why it’s a “must buy” compared to G305. I am using right now that mouse and I don’t see anything so much better in this Razer one that makes it a must buy. So what benefits do you see in it compared to your current mouse?
@@BlazevicJosip No worries. Just wanted to make sure you werent trying to troll me because of my comment towards the mouse. Well for starters, before Daves review I got notifications from other reviewers in regards to this mouse and all of them are in favor for the better side buttons on the Orochi v2. As an avid g305 user, I absolutely hate the side buttons. Its skinny, recess a bit too far for my heavy thumb and I generally dont like the size and feel. Another plus for me is the Kaihl switch that Razer implemented here. I have both the deathadder v2 and the viper. I use both and rotate when I play Siege and my biggest gripe was how mushy it can feel at times, but the switches themselves are more reliable due to their design. Now it could be marketing mumbo jumbo but im inclined to lean towards the optomechanical vs logitechs cheaper omrons. Ive had a g903 and this would be my second g305 due to double clicks, so a g305 esque mouse with more reliable switches is a plus for me, but since this uses Kailh however, Im down to give these a try.
Now due to it being smaller then the g305, this style would probably put my grip in a claw since i cannot palm my g305. I have medium to large hands depending on what mouse i use, but since the Orochi v2 is smaller then the g305, Im already forseeing maybe slicker flicks due to how I may be lifting off my mouse. All in all, I just like the g305 egg shape and I havent really experimented with other mice that may share the g305's form and at $70 for the Orochi v2 id say its a must buy, especially if you just want a g305 alternative with different switches and side buttons. Hope this helps bro
weight distribution issue can be fixed by using adapter for G305 & for Orochi v2 using same adapter and but battery in top slot then I guess it will be even better.
Glad to know you don't need Synapse in order to use the onboard profiles.
Does razer still make you create an account to even load Synapse for the initial configuration, though?
I just went with the MX Anywhere 2 because of that hilarious scrollwheel... Oh and great portability and battery life.
Hopefully you know there's a version 3 out now. It's great

Seriously, bro. I thought the mouse would cost like $150 or something. I'm so happy the mouse doesn't actually cost much.
So for those of us who don't play games with mouse and keyboard, what do you think of trackball mice like the Logitech M570? More ergonomic, doesnt even need to be on a surface to work which may be more useful for some people, etc. I've been using one for like almost a year now I think and I don't see any reason to go back to a regular mouse. What do you think? Should more people roll over to track balls?
