    I use the same Milwaukee Transfer Pump to water veggies on our farm and in our High Tunnel. Been using for a few years now with our 1500 gallon black pvc tank. Works pretty well!

    You were videos were the inspiration for me to get my first IBC so thanks Jason! Also, I saw a hack for the water buckets when the metal handles do that to the buckets..drill a hole where the old hole is and use thick paracord for a handle.instead of metal. Didn't have to get rid of my bucket and so far they haven't broken again. Easier on the hands too!

    I enjoy your videos so much because you are a person of possibilities. When there is a problem, you find a way to resolve it without complaining or making excuses (unlike some others). It's always refreshing to see what you're gonna do next. I've been wondering whether something could be done with that storm-damaged water collection system. Thanks for taking us all along on your family's journey.

    Add some more big water containers up top at the back end of your property and run pex downhill in a trench like you did off your well to high tunnel. Put frost frees where you need them in the middle of your field. Gravity feed them?

  • @williamstevens9609
    @williamstevens9609 Před 21 dnem +4

    Honestly you have enough drop from the top to the middle you could put a tee at the tank up top (to keep a valve up there) and bury a water line down to a hydrant at the middle and you'd have plenty of pressure. It'd be similar to what Lumnah did in his pasture for water.

    Great Observation Farmer Jason...... plan on 5-10 1000. To be strong with your reserves... you see how fast you go thru it. I watch these farmers waterin potatoes here out my back property, I cant fathom how much it takes just for this 1 crop circle. Our Water here is From Heaven. 150-250 year perc!! Thats documented, i drink right out the well its that good. But i also watch what i use . I also keep a stored amount for emergencies. Its been quite a learning experience for the past 4 years. I dont take it for granted anymore... prayers for more Rain over there🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏🐓🐔🐑

    I've said this a few times already this year but I'm beyond shocked that a Californian didn't install two 1000 gallon reservoir as well as 2 totes on the shed and multiple on the big barn. What is always the first concern but Jason was consumed with the border fence so I can understand. I just thought after last years mini draught he would be concerned about water this year.

    If u got one at each end it's time for a middle water storage unit. I would say that u also should double or triple the covered area for collection. If able u should or could connect the 1000gal to another one in the middle of the property, also aiding in collection so that if one fills well the other is being used regularly, u can allow water to move over during a rain storm.

    You need an ibc tote on a trailer with an animal drinker attached to the front of it so your animals can drink from it. Then all you have to do is move the ibc tank with your animals. When it gets empty. Just full it up again and repeat. Saves hauling water every day. I'd love to see you make one.

    • @StoneKathryn
      @StoneKathryn Před 21 dnem +4

      They get heavy so fast that their legs can break. They don't really do well on a roost because they would have to balance and they are ungainly and grow so fast that they are practically naked on most of their body because the feathers can't grow in fast enough. It would be a hazard for them. They are so much different from a laying chicken.

      My thoughts as well. The barn is a large collector but at a low point on the property and I believe it has power for a pump. Have tanks large enough to catch all the rain from a storm and then pump it up to large holding tanks at the top of the property and then gravity feed everything in between. It would take time to get it all in place but Jason you have a good headstart. I guess time and money but a well isn't cheap either and you save the well you have.

    There’s no way that water is refreshing for the animals. Remember, you used black for two reasons, to keep it from growing algae and to keep it from freezing in the winter. How does it keep it from freezing in the winter?? The black color absorbs all colors in the light rays causing it to heat up. Now, not only does the ambient heat warm up that water but it also attracts more heat from the sun. Imagine going out in that heat and working all day to then go in the house to only have Luke warm to hotter water to drink. Try finding blue and white covers for those totes.
