I completely agree! I was in awe of these young ladies! 1987 Worlds was AMAZING to me... check out ALL of the CRAZY Romanian routines. That's why they won! They KILLED IT! Their Floor routines were INSAAANE!
Hi, my name is Leo Cosma and I am the choreographer of this exercise. I've been over several years the choreographer of Daniela Silivas. I feel particularly honored and blessed, lucky to see the result of my work with amazing Daniela and her magnificent interpretation has such an impact, even after all these years. Thank you. With friendly thoughts of gratitude, Leo Cosma
So adorable. Such personality! Like a child playing in a schoolyard but yet so elegant at the same time. Definitely one of the all time greats. I hope Daniela knows how beloved and appreciated her work is.
The judges knew Romania lied about her age, so they did not want a WORLD champion AA who was underage. This is why she was underscored .1 on every event. Beam final was unpreventable, as there were tons of falls and breaks, so she was the only clean one. By 1986 the judges accepted her and she started winning titles. But keep in mind she only won one major title, the Euro 87 title. She deserved the 88 gold AA and 89 Euros, but the judging always went against the Romanians.
silivas must be one of the most talented gymnasts ever...not only did she have to technique but her FX routines were always 'performed' rather than executed. you see all these amazing gymnasts nowadays and they do amazing stuff but you never see their eyes...they very often keep a very low eye-line and doesn't raw the audience in to the FX. i know some people don't like khorkina but look at the way she uses her eyes, and actually looks at the audience. love gymnastics between '85 and '95
Love her! She has to be one of my favorite gymnasts of ALL time! I still remember watching her compete, on TV. She has one of the most perfectly executed triple fulls I have ever seen! Awesome!
MANY gymnasts went on to use a back to back runs following this competition. Silivas, Shushunova, Dobre, Golea, Laschenova, Strazheva, Theummler, Kersten, Jentch, even Americans such as Fahn and Phillips did variations on this. Omelianchik started the trend in the 1980s, but the COP then rewarded the change of direction & combinations. It can be argued Omelicanchik wasn't even the first.Thiess Marshall of the US and Ungereanu of Romania had tumbling moves that went back into the mat in the 1970s
ALL the gymnasts had such form breaks back in the day including Omelianchik (look at her piked full-in!) and Shushunova. They just weren't deducted. Silivas was probably being marked as a junior. She was obviously very young.
@@simozimo09 lol, how are the judges supposed to assess her based on gymnastics she did two years later ? 🤣 Yeah her dance grew a lot but she did a super job here. That triple twist was outstanding. And the dance was super cute, very endearing. She showed sparks of the great style she’d refine over the next two years. Her tumbling was some of the most difficult in the competition. Maybe not a 10 but a 9.875? No way.
she has the difficulty, perfect landings, styles and everything..she deserves a 10.. eventho i am a big fan of Omelianchik, but this was just so unfair, too much for them to swallow back then
@@HotMessMemories1 It is 100% a triple twist. She actually could do it from an Arabian also. It was her favorite pass also, because she did it so easily, unlike Laura Cutina, she had spectacular height. She actually did it so easily the the judges often didnt give her the credit she deserved, demonstrated by the score she received here
metsdudenj I watched it over again and I definitely think you are wrong. She actually upgraded for the 1987 WC with a double full twist punch front to another double full punch front. Please revisit your gymnastics history or step aside.
@@HotMessMemories1 Considering I know more about gymnastics from 1980-1996 than most people on here, and since I was in the sport for about 10 years, I think I know what a triple twist looks like. Please get your eyes checked and step aside. No room for amateurs on here.
clearly there were many deductions, leg separation and flexed feet in her roundoffs , so ... it clearly wasnt a ten for the people who are saying it should of been...
shaylyn henley girlfriend let me break it down for here b/c those same flexed-footed roundoffs (of which only u seem to be able to see) were given a 10.0 in her beam routine at this very same event. In other words, your argument holds no water and the routine was clearly under-scored:(
Shaylyn, I was a judge at the time and I can tell you the way East Germany was scored on the floor exercise ( watch their rotation) the Romanians deserved at least .2 higher. I laughed at some of their routines how they were scored. The East Germans always pressured the judges for higher scores and it very much happened from 1981-1988. And lets not even talk about the 87 worlds or 88 Olympics.
Omelianchik only made one mistake, which was a little bit of a short landing on the first pass... Silivas also made a mistake on beam but got a 10. Nothing beats the originality in Oksana's dance and tumbling as well.. Tumbling out of a full-in or a double pike is to this day only just being explored. Might see it from Sandra Izbasa of Romania in the Olympics!! -- Also, Silivas started using the back&forth pass following this competition.. Which she went on to be known more for than Omelianchik.
I love this era of gymnastics...it was exciting and not boring, powerful and artistic...something gymnastics today doesn't seem to understand

Nice job on the exercise!
Felicitari !
Bravo! 🤗 Nemuritori.
Just perfect. Nice, Daniela.
Congratulations! Really good job!!!

Back when gymnastics was still artistic
Love her! She has to be one of my favorite gymnasts of ALL time! I still remember watching her compete, on TV. She has one of the most perfectly executed triple fulls I have ever seen! Awesome!
Perfect !
Goodness, what a doll. She was adorable!
The judge who gave it a 9.80 was probably the same who gave Mostepanova a 10 for a stumble in the first pass.
Rightful indignation of the crowd at the end!
Cute my little Queen
Unbelievably beautiful triple twist.
Daniela Silivas você é 10.
Sou teu fã.

Super high triple twist!!!
Yep :))
+Mariana Silivas are you related to Daniela? Thanks for your reply.
+Kevin Nguyen 😊☺

Oh, she is so cute! This deserved a 10.
Disagree, her difficulty wasn't exceptional and her dance pales in comparison to her dance from 87 onwards.
You should compare it to the rest of the competitors there, not with herself after 2 years. LOL!

I think if Omeliantxik got the 10, this exercise should be 9.95

The best gymanasts in the world :
1. Nadia Comaneci
2. Daniela Silivas
for me
1.Daniela Silivas
2. Yelena Shushunuova
3. Nadia Comaneci
Underscored
this should be at least a 9.975.
That double twist second pass was fab!
that was a TRIPLE
metsdudenj how do you figure. It was effortless. A triple in that day and age would have been labored.

superba
That Triple Twist tho! ....only outdone by Henrietta Onodi! BANG!
merecia un 10 :(
why so low? was nelli kim there?
Atata eleganta
Cette performance etait absolument 10.00 mais les spectateurs pensent pas comme les jurys
Like the arabesque.....
LOVE THE TRIPLE TWIST!!
just to reiterate... where on earth did those deductions come from?? It was a 10 as far as I can see...
Beautiful routine. She is a little cutie to boot.
Romania got their revenge at the 87 Worlds!
she so 😍cute
So unfair... at least one judge gave her a 9.80, others gave her 9.90.
Undeesti scmpa noastră?❤🙏☘
I guess she got rep here and that carried to 1988 because she did great there for sure
Also, was responding to the top comment :)
does anyone know what music she used???
@yellowbanana104 hahah.... so true... so funny! Good one! ;-)
merecia un 10 pobrecita :(
Georgia love's Daniela Harper
Ahoraa mayor una anciana
OMG! So low
Im wondering now...did she miss a requirement that I am not seeing?
技の間の動きなんかは、バレエとか経験してると違うんだろうなぁ…
The execution was way much better than Omelianchik's. What a low score!
She did not complete the triple
Not complete your head

She did not.
She did a full piked, triple twist and double back, and you not even a cartwheel know.
Las arbitras, muy miserables!!!! Que vergüenza!!!!
her dance was not appealing -,-
