- The blue motor rotates the brown lead screw through a reduction gearbox consisting of four spur gears.
The pink piston rod has a prismatic joint (sliding key) with the actuator body and has a nut (orange) that engages with the lead screw.
So when the lead screw rotates, the piston rod makes a linear motion.
Once the green pin fixed on the piston rod contacts the red extend or retract limit switch (shown in symbolic form), the linear motion will stop.

The work of this man deserves its own museum!!!
You are the most stable person I have followed so far. Congratulations
As long as I'm healthy😁.
I was just studying these devices, thank you for the cut away very informative. Plus beautiful design in it's simplicity.
Glad it was helpful!
thanx
Love your mechanism and mechanics... very clever ones.
What software do you use to model
All videos in this channel are made in Autodesk Inventor, Dynamic Simulation.
What do you consider when choosing the nut (orange) that engages with the lead screw? Do you use a rule of thumb or consider each factor e.g. length, friction, tolerance?
My videos are only intended to explain the mechanical principles of the mechanism.
Here, for the helical connection between the screw and the piston rod there are different options: Acme lead screw or ball screw depending on many specific factors.
Which one is the sliding key? The green pin? Thanks.
No. See last scene of the video:
It is the key at the bottom of the piston rod on the left.
The key slides along the groove on the half-cylinder in the lower right corner.
Oops haste makes waste. I should have watched till the end; thanks that makes sense. Thank you.
Great !!!
Could you share the 3d file please ?
Links to download CAD files of this video have been added to the video description recently.
hello bác. Bác là người việt nam phải không? Tình cờ con thấy nhiều best tech guys shared kênh của bác trên Twitter .
Vâng. Ở Hà Nội.
I am preparing for university. Will choosing the mechanical engineering department help me have a positive outlook on life?
Every profession is interesting if you love it and put your best effort into it.
@@thang010146 If I don't have the tendency to feel love for anything, will I always be unhappy throughout my life?
@@thang010146 Obviously you love both mechanical devices and teaching people.😃
@hamzabaydar: Maybe. I don't know.
@mbhinkle: Not teaching, just sharing what I find interesting.
did you have online class ?
i would attend it
Sorry, no.
