Yes I can see that. And we had fun listening to it. I was only 11 in 1965 when this came out but my older brother turned me on to rock and roll earlier several years before (& drove our parents nuts,,,,,LOL_)
We only live once so might as well be in a state of joy for whatever you do. And that state of joy for me is for one listening to the music we had back in that day.
Great to see vintage footage of artist's like these and great to see people like you putting the time and effort into restoring and showing footage like this much appreciated Auckland New Zealand 2021
Don't be silly and don't compare. "Quinn the Eskimo" by Mansfred Mann, "Mister Tambourine Man" by the Byrds, and "All Along the Watchtower" are amazing too. 🤦♀️
Their first hit (in 1965) and they just let it rip (this one reached #8) Over the next four years they would have eight more hits and cement themselves in our music memories permanently.
This is awesome! (Have no doubt, the Turtles hadn't gone soft with folk music; they were still fundamentally the Crossfires playing the L.A. scene & dominating Top 40 stations like KRLA.) And just look at how much FUN everyone was having--with the exception of the one shell-shocked guitarist, you see an integrated TV show where they're just rippin' it up! The beauty of live TV!
I love this song. These guys were just out of high school! Thank you for posting.

So sad to learn today (10 Apr '21) that *Deanna "De De" Mollner* passed away on 7 March 2021, after a short illness. She's the blonde dancer next to Howard Kaylan (lead singer). Rest In Peace *De De.* 🙏🏻🌹❤️
Man she certainly had the moves, yes it's sad to hear she has passed, I do sometimes wonder where are they now. Thanks for the info. But I wonder how you know of this LRNunez

Looks like Ninth Street West on KHJ-TV out of L.A.. Love this video, with the crowd singing, whooping and hollering in the background. Thanks for the up.
your right on! 9th street west channel 9 southern cal. tv.,,, they used the same studio, i read groups used to do double duty on both shows. great video. good times!
If you get a chance to go to a Happy Together concert, it is well worth it. I've been to two. Last year's was cancelled because of Covid. They have a new tour starting in June 2021. Some of the line-up are The Vogues, The Association, The Cowsills, Chuck Negron from 3 Dig Night. Highly recommend this show.
Great song, great band. Never got to see The Turtles, [loved 'Flo & Eddie' during their stint with 'Uncle Frank'), but did get to see 'the turtles' (just Mark & Howard with band) perform in the 'outdoors tent' (which held about 1,000 people) at The Rideau Carleton Raceway/Casino in Ottawa during the 90s (price of admission was $10, which included a hotdog/hamburger and a drink !); great show put on by two solid professionals !
The Turtles smoked this one. Great rendition of a Bob Dylan tune. What a sense of humor Dylan had. Listen closely. He's telling the person to jump off the building. I like the sarcastic attitude and singing. This is the beginning of PUNK ROCK.
in the mist of the british invasion this group really held their own with some priceless music, which 50 plus years later still sound so much better than wha'ts out there today
I always suspected that this song was about the military draft and, well, who could make the point better than the Turtles. Can't imagine anyone doing a better version.
The real musical instruments will always sound better than the computer generated sounds . Today will be difficult for artists to sing live a concert without auto tune. We regressed very much in the last decades.
I gotta admire the Turtles. They don't fit the image of rock & rollers -- they're kinda chunky, borderline fat. But they just perform songs I like. It's all about the music -- not the image, tattoos, drugs, whatever.
@@Anonymousfrank You're right; lots of bands broke up over time, for various reasons, but it appears that Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman are indeed Happy Together.😁
I just turned 61 and I only listen to 50s & 60s music. Love The Turtles and all of their music.
Our generation has the best music and the best dancing girls? Awesome job here!
It is obvious The Turtles were having fun performing this song. Being young is fun.
Yes I can see that. And we had fun listening to it. I was only 11 in 1965 when this came out but my older brother turned me on to rock and roll earlier several years before (& drove our parents nuts,,,,,LOL_)
Haunting. Very beautiful. A staple for 40 years.
Haunting? It's A Bob Dylan Song. He wanted to have cash and June to sing the song he wrote for them.
So much fun and spirit in that room , such joy watching this !!!

The Turtles was one very Happy Band. Loved the mood they put me in.
😢me too I listen only to oldies!!
Great video and I love how the energy ramps up towards the end. They were having so much fun!

I remember when girls actually danced like this. Times were better then.
I just turned 60. Was influenced by my older siblings on music . Still listen to 60's and 70"s. When music was music. Wow. ☮️.
Love the Turtles! Puts me in a good mood all the time.
Yes that's so true.i just live 60s music so many feel good songs from that great decade also I love alot of tv shows from the 60s too
This is the best rendition of a Bob Dylan song ever!

@@lemurianchick Adele's "Make you feel my love" ?
The best version of a great Bob Dylan song.
The Turtles are one such band that I can't pick my favorite song as there are so many great songs!
1965 ,what a year, aloha
Their first hit (in 1965) and they just let it rip (this one reached #8) Over the next four years they would have eight more hits and cement themselves in our music memories permanently.
Love his moves as he sings - very authentic
The Turtles were a good band & they also had a good sense of humor. Notice how the drumhead is upside down. LOL
Yes, I was reading comments to see if anyone else noticed the upside down drumhead. 🙃
When music was music, not like the junk we hear today. Mark Volman had a superb voice.
The Turtles do my favourite rendition of this song. Awesome.
Wow man! Everyone 's so excited. And that blond...hear the crowd joining in. The fun and innocence...God I love 60s pop. James w
I kept thinking she was going to smack him!! lol
TIMELESS MUSIC!

Sorry.
Hey!....Sad, but i'm sure she lived a long, happy life, we all have to go sometime....
❤
A nice journey back in time. What a awesome time to be young. It really does go by fast.
This seems like it was 100 years ago, but a lot of fun to watch.
I miss the days when you could hear these song's on your car radio😎 groovy
Great Song! Love sixty music.
i became friends with drummer , here, Don Murray (RIP)
Love this great song, was young but
Just loved listening to this song..♥️
These guys were always clowning around - especially Mark Vogel... but notice the upside down drum set in this performance...
Volman 💙😚
@@daisywrabbit Thanks for the correction... I knew that, must have been a "brain fart" 😁
Go away from my window
Leave at your own chosen speed
I'm not the one you want, babe
I'm not the one you need
You say you're lookin' for someone
Who's never weak but always strong
To protect you and defend you
Whether you are right or wrong
Someone to open each and every door
But it ain't me babe
A-no, no, no it ain't me babe
It ain't me you're lookin' for babe
Go lightly from the ledge, babe
Go lightly on the ground
I'm not the one you want, babe
I'll only lead you down
You say you're lookin' for someone
Who'll promise never to part
Someone to close his eyes to you
Someone to close his heart
Someone who will die for you and more
But it ain't me babe

The "go go" dancers! So fuckin' cool daddy-O!
The original Turtles lineup, as you can see drummer Don Murray and bassist Chuck Portz here. Before the days of John Barbara and Jim Pons.
