  • Catfish fingerlings are the seed to your production, therefore it is required that you source your fingerlings well and have enough information on how to handle them. Failure to adhere to this will result in losing a lot of your catfish fingerlings in a short period of time.

    Good morning Lartman. You r blessed beyond measures. Pls i just started fish business with so small quantity. I want to ask wat d least number of fishes to begin with is? What quantity of juvenile fish is ok to put in a blue chemical tank(i'm in nigeria)? N how many month will one need to keep feeding before selling to make profit?. Thanks

      Amen, God bless you too. We normally look at 100 fingerlings. The blue tank is for a month of two farming, after you may need a bigger tank or IBC/Square tank

    Hi
    A question
    My waters clear, I can see them on the bottom of the tank, I had about 1500lts, I added more water about another 1500lts, then over night, my water went from clear to a light grayish/ cloudy colour any reason?
    Its like when you lower your water enough for them to swim, a few hours later is cloudy, I put that down to slim on the fish.
    My tank 3x2m hold 6000lts water, I have 350 fish.
    Any ideas, please.

      @LartmanFarms  Před rokem

      The change in colour is as a result of fish excrete, which is normal. If you are running any filtration, the cloudiness will reduce. But the cloudiness doesn't make the tank inhabitable for your fish, you can find out by watching the parametres to maintain over here. czcams.com/video/JQ8x4RhI8_4/video.html

      @@LartmanFarms hi thank you.
      I had to import an API test kit couldn't find one in Gh.
      I also have Ph tester.
      My waters mixed from GH water and rain water some times the Ph can be about 9, to bring this down i add distiled white vinegar, 20ml per 20l water bring it down to 6.8.
      1.5 bottles per in a 1000l Ibc tank brings it down to below 7.
      I've been running my Ph from 6.4 - 7.2.
      For months I didn't have API test kit, I took so water to Ghw to get tested, it was 25ppml ammonia, nothing happened to my fish. None died, none got sick.
      I started radial filter, 2 mechanical filters no problems.
      Then someone said put my mechanical filter above my tank, pump water into them, let it run straight back into my tank.
      My water was never clean, I reverted back, iremoved one mechanical filter with stone filter added a small mechanical bio filter with air, I've mentioned to you.
      I've not gone strictly by the book, so far no problems, my assement is there's a wider margin the fish can accept then what give.
      I do try to work within a range.

    Hi
    I just started this fish stuff using a water tank and I discovered that each time i feed the fishes (juveniles)(1.5mm) the feed goes down to the bottom of the tank because they barely eat even a hand full . I started with just 70fishes though.... So, my question is :. Is it that the feed is too big for them or is it normal? Or do you feel I overfeed them?. I base in Nigeria..

    • @LartmanFarms
      @LartmanFarms  Před rokem +2

      At least juveniles eat 2mm feed. Also you may need to get a floating feed, which takes a while at he top before sinking.

      So glad to have someone like myself here. My husband n i started with 44pcs in a blue tank, but feed them with 2mm feed. They don't eat much at all. The 1st day we fed them, they werent responding n after a while we didn't see the feed again n taught they have eaten it. It was wen we wanted to change water 2days after we realised the feed was beneath the water. But since sunday till today feeding dem with so little, dey respond n eat the feed. I think they werent used to us or because we fed them before 24hours
