you get an all metal body, gorilla glass 6, water resistance compared to an all plastic, regular glass (maybe up to gorilla glass 3) and no water resistance.
camera and video quality is also incomparably better on older flagships.
a snapdragon 845 completely mops the floor with a snapdragon 662 (best chipset found in new $150 phones) and the performance is incomparable, new cheap phones can have great specs on paper yet feel sluggish.
what new cheap phones do have are ridiculous battery capacities, hell, they even mop the floor with new flagships when it comes to battery size, but then again a quickly charged 3700 ma/h battery should be enough for anyone. especially with a much better optimized chipset/os.

I still have the McLaren and finding it difficult to part with. But I like to have a backup incase I break or lose my main phone. I think overall the McLaren is my favourite android phone I've ever owned. My 8t has all the bells and whistles of a 2020/21 flagship. So the upgrade was worth it.

I own a Oneplus 6 and the phone is great spec wise, but because of software support I wouldn't recommend anyone buying a oneplus smartphone (even the newer ones), if you care about security updates. I've had my oneplus 6t for almost 3 years, i've been pretty satisfied. It's still really fast and really a great phone overall, you can get a used one on ebay for $300 its still better than the new samsung A32 IMO.
Compared to the Samsung A32 5G the Oneplus 6t has a better screen, better CPU, Better Camera, Better chargeing, Better Video recording. The only think the A32 is better at is the Battery is 35% bigger and its 5G.
The battery i can tell doesn't last as long as it used to. Keep in mind Oneplus no longer supports the 6t with updates so you would have to install a custom ROM to get updates to keep your apps working but privacy would definitely be an issue.

Although even I noticed that the camera performance has slacked a little and the colur composition of the photos is not as it used to be. Apart from that the performance wise it still works the same and no hardware issue. I even had no issues with the charger.

The OnePlus 6T was my first phone after moving away from Samsung. I'm still using it, two years after purchase. It was and still is a good phone and has aged quite well. That said, the camera was never great to begin with and things haven't improved with software updates. The speaker and vibration motor aren't that great either. Hopefully the upcoming OnePlus 9 series will address these shortcomings. Everything else has been fantastic, the screen is still great with no burn-in, and the software experience is excellent, with no lag.

I have the 6T and still working as expected (looking at HW) for 2.5 years now, but OnePlus FW is a different story.
They have made too many mistakes in the FW lately resulting in screen not responding until you lock and unlock, Wifi dropping or halting in data transfer, Assistant issues and using old security patches.
They fix it in the following update (3 months later), but these mistakes are not necessary.
They focus too much Nord and 9 devices which seems to result in rushing the firmware's for older devices.
So in general very happy with the device, not so much with OnePlus when you reach the 1.5/2 year mark

I've been loving using this phone since it came out, no lag issues whatsoever. The battery life's a bit effected ofc. I've dropped it a couple of times in water, once in a rain puddle and once in a shallow bucket of water, that was more than a year ago, haven't faced any issues which is pretty damn good for it doesn't claim to be water resistant. The only thing that has been a bit unfortunate is it's screen's durability, I've had it replaced twice and it did cost quite a lot in relation to its price. But again wouldn't have gotten it fixed twice if I wasn't fond of using it so much. Probably the peak oneplus device for the bang for buck it gives.

Awesome review!! I'm still rocking my 6T McLaren. Definitely recommend it to those looking for a cheaper but still powerful phone! Good point on the camera, it is pretty good but has the problems you've mentioned. I'm using the Google camera APK and it seems to work pretty well, better than the stock app.
I found the little upgrade to the McLaren worth it, since it was $30 more and that's just worth it for the carbon fiber case it comes with, great case!
They didn't IP rate it, but it's supposed to be pretty water resistant. One been washing mine with soap and water every couple days since the pandemic hit and it's been fine, so it's quite resistant to water ingress. The speaker sounds muffled until it dries though, takes a few hours.
The warp charger is great right before I head out and need a quick charge, I try not to use it too often though, I'm sure it causes more wear.
My well abused battery is seeing a lot of wear though, and it's needed more charges than new. I'll probably replace it to gain more capacity.
The hardware quality is amazing, it's still working like day one and I've dropped and abused it more than any sane person should.
    Great review! Keep it coming!!
    Cheers,
    David.

  • @TheHed94
    @TheHed94 Před rokem

I use my 6T since launch as my daily driver till this very day and it is indeed incredible phone. You can even improve the photo quality, by just downloading the Pixel Camera app and using that instead of the stock OnePlus one and then u really have a 2022 mid-range-ish phone. So if u don't have much money, but u want a very good phone, do urself a favor and buy this instead of some crappy 2022 low-mid range phone.
After so many years of heavy usage, the battery in my 6T starts to show a degradation, but is still super swift and everything (as long as u have 15+ GB of free space in storage).
I'll be parting my ways with this phone in 2023, because no king rules forever and 4-5 years with one phone seems enough to me.
With all that said, I'm 100% happy that I got this phone back then.
