The only way we could "take note" is if we made huge systemic changes to our constitution via amendments (good luck with that in ANY political climate, good or bad). The transition periods and the way our representatives are elected and take up their new office is pretty set in stone.
Plus, I would argue that our longer transitional periods between the general election in November and the beginning of the new administration/congress in January makes sense for a lot of those offices. The president, the various departments, and also members of Congress all need time to hire or nominate new leaders and employees for their offices. The transition period allows for most of that work to get done before Congress comes back into its first new session and allows both bureaucrats and representatives to hit the ground running and immediately start working on new policies, executive orders, and legislation. The only political process that slows this down is the requirement for the Senate to approve individual nominations for cabinet positions and other roles.

I'm now 66 and in receipt of my state pension. I know only too well how the NHS is broken and that it has been for so many years! Its the main reason I have severe musculoskeletal disabilities! And its also one of the reasons I avoid the medical professions whenever I can! But if there are a lot tough decisions to be made over the NHS and other areas, at least I can accept that it WILL be for the good of the UK and NOT out of any form of self-interest! Those greedy, lying, self-obsessed Tory criminals have no idea of the damage they've done to so many lives! Well, as the PM said, actions speak louder than words! And who knows! If the PM and his cabinet do anywhere near an acceptable job, in 5 years time (if the planet is still alive) I might actually do something I havent done since 1997: VOTE! 😮😊👍🙏⚖️🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇮🇪🙋

I liked the labour manifesto on the whole. However, 10 million people voted for Conservative and Reform combined which is a larger majority of Labour voters (9 mill). I hope Starmer keeps these people in mind when considering future policy and maintains a balanced approach to heal the wounds of division that has rocked this country to its foundations.
