    The epitome of great actresses. She was so brave and strong throughout her life. In this interview it's so sad/touching to hear her say "will you say that for me after I'm gone? it won't be too far off . . ." . A true legend of of film and strong human being it seems.

      Steve, I agree it was very sad to hear her say that about "will you say that after I am gone, it won't be long you know". I'll never forget her comment of "I'm more than just a song you know".

    She has been gone for 28 years, I remember being 8 years old and watching television and there was breaking news that Bette Davis has passed away at age 81. I didn't know who she was until my mom told me who she was and when I was in high school in 1998 I had this obsession with the golden era of Hollywood and I was a huge fan of old Hollywood and I did a lot of research on the great Bette Davis, read all her books and watched all her movie's and her interviews, I can't help love her and admire this extraordinary women...she was the best ever actress. I wish I knew of her as a child when she was still alive but I wasn't aware of her by then. I was only born in 1981, But I do remember watching a old lady, very frail old women with a lot wit on talk shows...I had no idea she was the same woman we call Bette davis...I look back at these interviews and think, all this time when I was 5,6,7, years old watching Johnny Carson and David Letterman seeing this spunky legend that she was Bette Davis...I hate that we are losing all the actors and actresses of the olden era of Hollywood, it was such a special time in Hollywood. And unmatched actors and actresses and you will never see the likes of Bette Davis or any actor of that era today. I watch old black in white movies now and I marble at the greatness of those times...and watch those classic movies to honor there memory. I'm also a old Hollywood buff now. I love vintage.

      Your comments are very touching and they explained something that is difficult to put in words but I do think I understand your meaning. I'm just a few much older than you and since I have watched the series Feud I'm in a loop to grasp everything I can on youtube about Bette Davis, all her appearances in TV shows, movies and documentaries The kind of personnality she displays is rather unique and not current in our times but this personnality lead her to be the great actress she was and still appreciated today by more legions of fans who have no direct connections to this past. You have a sounding italian name maybe Anna Magnani rings a bell if not I should urge you to watch her movies, one of the greatest actress of all times. She had authentic intensity that is unique also like Bette but expressed in a comppelte different way. May long live the vintage we love and cherish!

      Patrick Martin Thank you, yes I'm Italian/French, my grandma and great grandma loved Anna Magnani, she was a extraordinary Italian actress, very underrated, she was amazing, I'm a huge fan of hers, she won an academy award and meny more awards, she was a deep actress with so meny layers, and a method actress sadly she passed away in 1973 at age 65 in Rome. She was very multifaceted and she was a rare gem in films....or how they would say it back then "Pictures". She was well known in my mom's house and my grandma/Nannos house hold for sure. Thank you for mentioning this magnificent actress, I'm ashamed to say I forgot about her, I did do some research on her in 1999 when my grandma/Nanno told me about her, I was more aware of Sophia Loren and Gina lollobrigitta. But now that you told me, I will watch her amazing movies in honor of her and my late Nanno who loved her. She was really incredible herself....Magnifica Attrice💖🌷🍷

    If you read my comments and found them to be "highly derogatory," then you neglected to notice that they were directed to people who made highly insensitive and insulting remarks. As far as changes in appearance, we all fall prey to this since none of us is immortal and remain young forever. Why not focus on her accomplishments instead of what she looks like. But, I guess you don't know how to see a person in terms of their strong determination to succeed in an industry that is just as hypercritical as you are????

    Bette aged badly. But Steve aged far more rapidly. He was SOOO hot in the '80s. Two decades later, not so much.

    She was born in Lowell? If anyone could believe this. But i was born and raised in Lowell, MA, i'm still here in a home in Lowell as i type this. I wanna find some kindof birth certificate of better davis. WHO WOULD LIKE THAT????? It's all mills here, i wonder if she worked in one of them.

  • @LakeConstan
    @LakeConstan Před 12 lety

    @comalaism I clicked on your name and see that you have a history of highly derogatory personal comments, so I'll take "idiot" as a fairly mild reproach. Bette Davis DID age badly, strarting in the mid 1940s.you can actually date her films, year by year, by the change in her appearance. I think it was the smoking and reported heavy drinking. But you likely don't care to know what I actually was referring to, do you?

    Hair CLOSER to her head would have be proportionally more flattering.

    She gave this same interview, over and over and over again, for decades. The difference is that previously, she didn't look like an escapee from a horror movie set. Here, she makes Baby Jane Hudson look like Vivien Leigh. Even Tammy Fay Baker looked better.
