Got 13th this tournament. I'm glad it's not 14th again, but after getting top 10 last time, as well as playing more lounge, I was hoping I would've done better. I had a few smaller lobbies where I was beaten by bots as well. I used Pauline in the first half, and the Blooper costume the second half.
Any given night in this game, anything can happen. I'm sure Mirror messed a lot of people up too and didn't help your case any.. It got me a couple times (instantly regrets the Mushroom Gorge pick lol). Ggs.
Pretty decent tournament overall. My pro controller kept doing its own thing, so I decided it’s time for a new one. That 1v1 on Hyrule reminded me of that one time when I first joined an Alex stream! (Alex and I 1v1’d on Hyrule). Ggs and cya next week! MOOOOOOOO

Jacob, Justin, both of you deserve to be in the end-of-year tournament, but I don't see anyone currently in the top 11 who isn't deserving of his or her spot. Phone Guy may need to play once or twice more to keep his points in the top 25, but we know how capable he is. He's called the Final Boss for a reason. As for me, I'm pretty much playing for sloth (as opposed to pride, seeing as both pride and sloth are among the 7 Deadly Sins). Wave 5 doing Wave 5 things pretty much killed my chances, unless I have the tournaments of my life over the next few weeks and win 2 (or maybe even 3, just to be sure I have enough points for the top 25)... but me having the tournaments of my life would certainly cost one of you a spot in that end-of-year tournament. Probably both, given the current standings. At least I'll forever have "From Indonesia with Love". Poor Alex, having to endure that on what is now technically last night. 👻😆👑

Lengthy commentary time, but before diving into any of the races, I just want to say 3 things. 1. From Indonesia with Love was the highlight of my evening, and probably the biggest disappointment of Alex's night but that's what happens when Oddball doesn't get to play in a Halloween tournament. 2. I have updated the Maple Treeway time trial. It's faster and hopefully retained all of the silliness of the previous version while adding another element. 🤠 3. I need to do a better job of making sure I have enough food on Thursdays so I don't feel like I'm going to collapse when all I'm doing is watching an Alex stream. Had I eaten more and/or better earlier today, I'd have certainly brought Tour Guide or one of the two "more violent than Eric Young" Miis to the tournament. With that out of the way, let's get some timestamps. Or... maybe not. Dare I ask what that Funky Kong combo is right in front of you to start the tournament? Oh it was Fandoms. I'm on Team Piranha Plant Cove, but I can see an argument in favor of any of the new courses as long as it's not Rome (there's no way it's better than Madrid), Daisy Circuit, or Rosalina's Ice World (there's no way either of the latter courses are better than PPC). As for the other 5, it's as I said. You can't go wrong with naming any of them as the best course from Wave 6. Also, the Madrid music is so amazing I have the perfect Mii for it as well, this one coming from the Punch Out!! series. On the NES, you fight this guy twice, and if the second fight goes past the end of the first round, there's a chance he'll say "Flamenco Strikes Back, Return of Don" between rounds. 13:52 Sleeping Wiggler! ❤ 14:41 Good morning, happy Wiggler. I wanted to upload a project earlier in the morning yesterday, but trying to fight through a migraine WAS NOT A GOOD IDEA. I ended up giving up on it and rested for most of the day. I contemplating bailing on this lobby but hoped my random pick would get something, almost ANYTHING other than these three, but no, it lands on DP3. 1:49 Mirror already messing with my head. No surprise that I got hate for wanting to use Peachette over their fan-favorite "hero" Funky Kong. These people really need to grow up. I keep saying my Father Boo time trials are "revenge" for when Alex makes rules restrictions that keep me out of a tournament I'm otherwise able to play, and while that's partly true (I wouldn't have gone forward with From Indonesia with Love at Electrodrome if Oddball had played at the Halloween tournament), I also do these time trials for the entertainment value. I know you and all of the Father Boo fans, especially Jacob, enjoy seeing what I do and Alex's reactions. 😄 2. If you laughed at the Wave 5 version of this time trial, you'll probably die laughing at the updated version. I hope I don't accidentally *M O R T I S* you with this one. 3. I have nothing fun or creative to say about why I ended up not competing, so I'll just reveal the identities of the 2 Miis "more violent than Eric Young". It shouldn't surprise you that one of them is Fuwawa and the other is Mococo, especially after their "Extreme Violence" clip when playing Typing of the Dead a few months ago as well as the fact I keep saying "Bau bau" whenever referencing these 2 Miis. 🐶🐶🐾 Hopefully you're feeling less loopy now. If you're still feeling loopy, you should get some more rest. 1:23 Lobby-surfing would have been a desperation play, but it may have been the way to go if it got you some courses that you're more comfortable playing on Mirror. 1:49 Mirror, feeling loopy, I'd have probably been in the same proverbial boat if I had tried playing, but I knew I was feeling off too much to attempt it. 2:04 I think a lot of Booster Pass courses fall into one of 2 categories: universally loved (like Wii Rainbow Road) or polarizing (like most of the Tour city courses). 4:32 I don't remember any details of when you fired Kamek and brought Wiggler in as a replacement. Got 13th this tournament. I'm glad it's not 14th again, but after getting top 10 last time, as well as playing more lounge, I was hoping I would've done better. I had a few smaller lobbies where I was beaten by bots as well.

Jacob, Justin, both of you deserve to be in the end-of-year tournament, but I don't see anyone currently in the top 11 who isn't deserving of his or her spot. Phone Guy may need to play once or twice more to keep his points in the top 25, but we know how capable he is. He's called the Final Boss for a reason.
As for me, I'm pretty much playing for sloth (as opposed to pride, seeing as both pride and sloth are among the 7 Deadly Sins). Wave 5 doing Wave 5 things pretty much killed my chances, unless I have the tournaments of my life over the next few weeks and win 2 (or maybe even 3, just to be sure I have enough points for the top 25)... but me having the tournaments of my life would certainly cost one of you a spot in that end-of-year tournament. Probably both, given the current standings.

I'm more concerned with whether or not red shells are still skipping players (for reasons that aren't easily written off as "Nintendo lag") as well as whether or not triple items are back to functioning properly. It's possible this one might have been due to Nintendo lag, and it definitely worked to your advantage to not get hit here, but if red shells are skipping, that amplifies my concern about triple 🍌 and triple greens failing to function properly, which has always been my greatest concern with how the items were altered in Wave 5. If triple items are still wonky, then I have to consider Wave 4 the best wave despite loving pretty much everything else about Wave 6 because it failed to fix the issues created by Wave 5.

Lengthy commentary time, but before diving into any of the races, I just want to say 3 things.
1. From Indonesia with Love was the highlight of my evening, and probably the biggest disappointment of Alex's night but that's what happens when Oddball doesn't get to play in a Halloween tournament.
2. I have updated the Maple Treeway time trial. It's faster and hopefully retained all of the silliness of the previous version while adding another element. 🤠
3. I need to do a better job of making sure I have enough food on Thursdays so I don't feel like I'm going to collapse when all I'm doing is watching an Alex stream. Had I eaten more and/or better earlier today, I'd have certainly brought Tour Guide or one of the two "more violent than Eric Young" Miis to the tournament.

Also, anyone giving you hate for wanting to use a character is taking Mario Kart way too seriously. Admittedly, I have been known to hope that Toads (and now Diddy Kongs, and formerly the "baby" characters before I started calling them "the [adult name of character] of Youth") have poor finishes, but that extends to COMs as well and unless there's an existing history of bad blood between myself and the other player, I tend to wish the other player well when switching off of a character I dislike, so any hate on my end, at least when it comes to character selection, is directed at the in-game character, and Peachette was never on that type of list from me. In other words, I tend to treat the characters I dislike the way Alex treats Father Boo while treating the players with the same basic human decency that Alex treats all of us in the GwA community.

As for the best course in Wave 6, you almost can't go wrong with picking any of them for that distinction. I'm on Team Piranha Plant Cove, but I can see an argument in favor of any of the new courses as long as it's not Rome (there's no way it's better than Madrid), Daisy Circuit, or Rosalina's Ice World (there's no way either of the latter courses are better than PPC). As for the other 5, it's as I said. You can't go wrong with naming any of them as the best course from Wave 6.
Also, the Madrid music is so amazing I have the perfect Mii for it as well, this one coming from the Punch Out!! series. On the NES, you fight this guy twice, and if the second fight goes past the end of the first round, there's a chance he'll say "Flamenco Strikes Back, Return of Don" between rounds.

I wanted to upload a project earlier in the morning yesterday, but trying to fight through a migraine WAS NOT A GOOD IDEA. I ended up giving up on it and rested for most of the day. I was not 100% going into the tournament.

Its absolutely insane. No surprise that I got hate for wanting to use Peachette over their fan-favorite "hero" Funky Kong. These people really need to grow up. People can hate any character they want, but the moment it goes beyond that, it becomes a problem.

I keep saying my Father Boo time trials are "revenge" for when Alex makes rules restrictions that keep me out of a tournament I'm otherwise able to play, and while that's partly true (I wouldn't have gone forward with From Indonesia with Love at Electrodrome if Oddball had played at the Halloween tournament), I also do these time trials for the entertainment value. I know you and all of the Father Boo fans, especially Jacob, enjoy seeing what I do and Alex's reactions. 😄

I always thought DK was slightly larger than FK, but you're saying FK is the larger one. We can't both be right. We might both be wrong, though, as a screenshot from Funky's Flights that I just looked up while making this reply shows DK and FK appearing to be approximately the same size, with Funky's surfboard creating the illusion that Funky is the larger Kong.
As for Pauline, I felt like the Ludwig/Mario class was too heavy for her so I put her one weight point below that, but I might not know enough about her and she might be a good fit in the class that Nintendo put her.

Grumble Volcano is potentially a double-edged sword. On one hand, you're great at the course. On the other hand, that greatness makes you a target for other players. All things considered, I think Wind Woods was the better pick here.

The only Wave 6 course I had played prior to Wave 6 dropping was DK Mountain. The reason I'm not also including Bowser's Castle 3 is because it's almost completely different in the Booster Pass compared to how it was on the SNES. Thus, I was excited for all of the new courses. It also didn't hurt Wave 6 that I had such a traumatic experience from Wave 5, but Wave 6 would have been a great wave all around even without the Wave 5 debacle.

Unless my memory is playing tricks on me, this timestamp is a glider section, and I prefer taking these sections with invincibility active. If the Bullet drops me off at a less-than-ideal place as a result, it gives me practice on how to turn after the Bullet wears off. That's still preferable to losing it by holding on to it for too long and a shock or Father Boo takes it away.
