      I do hope the guys go back and watch this video. The Boss and the Marshall sounded terrible. Not sure if it's because of post processing or mic'ing or what, but the Marshall and Katana both sounded like pure ass. I've heard demos of the Code and Katana and none of them sounded THAT bad. Based on this, the Fender was the clear cut winner, for me, followed by the Orange, and the katana and code in a dead heat for last.

    • @Maxx61
      @Maxx61 Pƙed 6 lety +14

      I spent one hour with the Katana at a big box retailer. No matter what I did, I could not produce a tone that inspired me and this is coming from someone who has owned nearly every modeling amp ever made. The hype surrounding this amp had me thinking I was going to leave the store holding the box as if it was Christmas in September. Nope. Left totally unimpressed. Spent another hour with the constantly slagged Line 6 Spider V and was blown away by what I was able to create, just from digging into the options buried within. Just goes to show ya....we all hear what we hear and like what we like. Glad the Katana crew love 'em but I'm just as happy toying around with my Spider V. It sounds every bit as good as my Vetta head once you get beyond the presets and really start creating your own tones and yes, to my ears as well the Fender's tone was the most organic. The Champion sounds like a real amp being goosed whereas the Code and Katana...again, to my ears, sound like digital amps being pushed by $50 dirt pedals.

    I own the Orange 35rt and I love the clean channel. The gain is great until you add to much, for my taste. If I didn’t have the Orange I would go with the Katana. The Code didn’t sound that good to me and even when I tried one I was not impressed with the sound but the app feature is pretty cool. Fender was good on clean but didn’t like the dirty all that much.

    Can we see you guys shoot out all the big solid state amps for pub gigging bands. Orange crush pro cr120/ katana 2x12/ Blackstar ID core 150/ fender mustang GT / and the big Marshal code.
    Who has great tone, affordable price tags, features, light weight, volume, and can be a serious heavyweight for bands on a budget that need sturdy gear to be heard in a multi piece band in a loud environment.
    And which one of those would appeal to the guy that doesn’t want to haul his super boutique amp that costs as much as his house and weighs as much as a family sedan to a multi-band gig where he will share the stage with allot of other people that may not care about that kind of an investment and set a beer on it! :)

    The Orange is cool, love the straight forward analog simple controls, unfortunately it doesn't sound worth buying in person. The Code sounds sooo much better when set up properly. I personally have a Fender Champ 40, got it used for $119 about a year ago. I agree with the guys and the comments that the clean channel is the best (at least for my tastes). I use this as my practice amp and have played both individual analog pedals and my Line 6 HX through it and I can say with confidence that BOTH types of effects sound wonderful through this amps clean channel so for me the dirty channel lacking is not an issue for me. Played one gig with the amp and had no issue volume/mix wise.
