Pemaquid Restoration: New May 2024 Update

- In December 2023 and again in January 2024 the town of Bristol Maine, and the Pemaquid Peninsula were hit by history making storms that brought hurricane winds and rain to the coast. The lighthouse area and New Harbor were hit particularly hard. In this video we provide you an update of what to expect from your Pemaquid trip. What's open, what's closed and what is being done to recover and rebuild Pemaquid.

Every stay at Brown's Wharf Inn in BBH, included a trip to The Seagull Shop for breakfast, and a stroll around the lighthouse. Last time I was there it was breakfast on the enclosed porch of the old Seagull Shop before the fire and rebuild. Great to see the area recovering. Hope to get up there again sometime soon. Thanks for the tour and pictures of the storm!
Thanks for watching. I have been a Pemaquid regular since the age of 8 and have many fond memories of breakfast and lunch at the Seagull shop! I also used to love going through and buying all the hard candy ( Root Beer Barrels! )

Opening with yet another Goodspeed timelapse. That was a crazy crazy storm. Wow...the pictures were terrible, and you can still see lots of remains of the destruction. Great picture of Simone standing on the pier of the Contented Sole. Sad that place may never reopen. The beach is beautiful but definitely lots of debris from the storms. The Pemaquid Lighthouse is such an awesome place to visit. Amazing story about the bell - glad it was saved. Thanks for the history. Interesting stuff. Crazy story about the rock being swept away or carried away or whatever that powerful storm did to it! I love Shaw's Wharf. Definitely great Lobster at Shaw's. That was a fun visit with your Mom and Dad. Those pictures are just horrible to look at. So glad they have mostly restored the area.
Yes it was sad to see the remains of buildings, docks, etc, but at least nobody was hurt. The beach dunes were severly damaged, almost 25 ft of them are gone. Do you remember that rock at the point?. I think you actually climbed it and have a pic or video of yourself on it. I couldn't believe it was gone. I love Shaws! Best chicken fingers ever... and I hear rumors that the lobster is good also 😆. Thanks for watching Walt...glad you found it interesting.

I still think they should be cutting you a check for all the great promotions you do for your home state. Where's Snowden? Lol....I shaved just for you, PJ. And no bar on boat, just on the dock at Shaws Wharf. There is an oyster bar on the bottom level and another full service bar on the top ( both are only open currently on the weekends until summer really starts). Winning in Vegas??? Lol... you must have borrowed some "Denise" vape pens! I'm winning at life, and that will have to be good enough for now!
The power of Mother Nature, she can be cruel, good to see the repairs . Reminds me of the coastal town we lived in in Spain and the beach huts got hit by waves. Looking forward to updates later in the year from Pemaquid.

9:41 i saw news on TikTok of the damage this place got. Good to see they are already working on things. Our pier has been taken by a storm and they wont repaor it after almost 20 yrs. CA is broke. They dont take care of their state beaches

That's definitely unfortunate. Maine relies a lot on tourism, especially in that area, so they are getting things cleaned up quickly!
Hi A&S - The storms in the NE can be absolutely brutal.🌩 Happy to see that they are rebuilding. I was surprised to see the beach was actually sand and not the pebbles like many of the other ones you've shown before. Is this a popular tourist location? Lunch looked good - I would love to try a lobster roll at a local eatery. Counting down the days. Cheers!!!!😎❤🍻
Hi Kevin and Curtis! Yeah, we get some good storms up here in Maine. This was a particularly rough winter, not much snow but plenty of rain and winds. Pemaquid is pretty popular in the summer but not terriblely busy with tourists. It's a bit more off the beaten path but the beach is always busy due to the shallow warm waters, and it's small so it fills up fast on sunny hot days! The lobster rolls are the freshest you will find anywhere. We would love to show you and Curtis around someday! Thanks for watching and we will see you next week 😀 👍
