The difference with harden in philly is that harden gave them two wins singlehandedly as the 2nd best player. But embiid gave them nothing.

The reason harden struggled the later games is simply cause doc rivers refused to remove pj tucker off the game and philly was forced to play 4v5 on offense. 3v5 since embiid was choking as well.

It’s no coincidence that the Clippers were at there worst because Russ was out. His impact on this particular team is much bigger than the box score. His effort and intensity gives this meandering Clippers team some real fire and personality that helps fuel the other players on the court. That is incredibly valuable.

You also use a circular logic when talking about the Lakers free throw disparity which is clear. You say “they are the best at getting to the free throw line and the best at not fouling” BUT THAT IS COMPLETELY DEPENDENT ON THE REFS. It’s not hard to see the league is helping them with these calls.
They get ticky-tac calls that no other team gets. You have even admitted to the flopping from AD, reaves and DLO. Quit gaslighting everyone on this one, if the game was called equally for everyone the lakers would miss the playoffs. They are not cheating them into a championship, just enough to monitize them in April/May

One big factor i dont think you factored with Klay is the coverages he see's. He doesnt have the luxury that guys like Duncan or Grayson Allen or other shooters has. He is still guarded as a second option... and when they tried to have him in a lesser role.. GSW offense couldnt sustain it due to their need to have him pull multiple defenders coming off screens. He doesnt get nearly as many open looks as the other shooters around the league.

He was great yesterday and Paul George couldn’t do shit with PJ guarding him. Mavs lost this game in the first half specifically 2nd quarter and won the rest of the game. Game 1 is literally game 1. Kawhi also slows the game down more and doesn’t just dribble and blow by. Teams make adjustments and when Mavs did some in the 2nd they played better than the clips did. Even if this was a blowout on the Mavs part i would never think that’s how the rest of the series is gonna go. I get people are clippers fans (im surprised never heard of them really lol) but let’s just use common logic here even though i do understand not everybody has that 🤦🏾♂️😂

Jason I really enjoy your talk about the technical aspects of basketball. One the other hand I think some at the V needs to tutor you more on effective arguing using statistics. You need more context. Free throw differential per game is a nice place to start, but it doesn’t have enough context as to why it’s not remarkable. You need median and mode as well. Also you need more context like FT differential in wins vs losses. Probably the main reason this is an issue is to how much it seems to impact games and records.
Examples
12 game wins by 5 points or less with FT diferential greater than twice the end score difference.
The lakers are 27th with 39.4 drives a game and 11th with 7 FTA a game from those drives. The 2018-2019 Hornets were 4th with 51.4 drives a game and 2nd with 7.8 FTA a game from those drives. The difference in rank between drives and FTA from drives is the largest in the past decade.
I do agree that you got to suck it up when the game is being played, but you can’t be blind to blatant examples of favoritism seen above. Also let’s be honest the Lakers current style of basketball is horrendous to watch.

I’ve been saying for a few weeks that people are jumping the gun with the Mavs and that they will lose to the Clippers. I want Dallas to win, but they’re not going to and I never thought they would. With Kawhi coming back I wouldn’t be surprised if the Clippers win this series pretty easily. This game was over right from the start.

Just wanted to add that showing the "FT differential leaders over the years" as a barometer is misleading since the league has noticeably called fouls differently year to year. Even this year, Lakers could have grifted a higher differential if there wasn't a conscious effort to put the whistle away after the all star break this year. Once LeBron is off the Lakers, their FT differential will come back down to Earth. Also, funnily enough, admitting that the Lakers' starting lineup is full of foul grifters kinda admits that they get more calls than they realistically should.

D'lo and AD are having the same amount of freethrows they've always had regardless of team with comparable volumes year to year. The odd one out is Austin Reeves but he models his game after James harden. Lebron doesn't get a ton of freethrows nor calls either. For as much as people say he flops, he doesn't get freethrows nor calls. I don't know the numbers now but when butler dame james and porzingus all had around 210 games played, they all had more foul calls than Lebron since hes been on the lakers... not freethrows, foul calls. The longer the series goes, the higher the chance something collapses on Clippers side - injuries, old guys getting tired, Westbrook falling back into his bull-in-a-china mode etc. Dallas really needs to put way more pressure in game 2, to at least tire the opponents. There’s NO WAY you went through alllllllllll that footage from the Nuggets-Lakers game and couldn’t identify the unevenness of calls on one side of the floor versus the other. LeBron needs a passport for how much he travels and refs are blind to that. The Lakers openly hack the Nuggets but I guess that only happened on thousands of other screens and not yours, while the Lakers repeatedly got rewarded for phantom fouls that never occurred.
And it’s not just with the Lakers. There are several teams or specific players that get extremely soft whistles and those that get the opposite. Any fair minded person with decent vision who watches games sees this happening and hears commentators routinely subtly stating their frustrations and saying the same thing I am - we just want games called fairly on both sides.
And let’s not even get started with ejections!! There were a couple of times when the Lakers were barking in the refs’ faces and nothing happened. We see Draymond get away with this damn near daily! Meanwhile they’re are other players who get T’d up or tossed for any word, sound, irreverent breath, weird facial expression, and even no expression! Tony Brothers recently chased down a player who walked to the bench, initiated confrontation, and T’d dude up!
BUT WE ARE ALL IDIOTS WITH A LOSER MENTALITY FOR BELIEVING OUR LYING EYES AND NOT YOUR CONTEXT-DEVOID squigglies chart and mean words??
I’m going to find the video I came across this past week for this guy who did a very _scientific_ and thorough investigation. I hate that I can’t recall it but one thing he debunked is what you referenced about how the Lakers drive into the paint more blah blah. If my memory is correct, he demonstrated that in fact there was a team that did it I think twice as much and got less than HALF of the calls, in addition to other outlandish data. If/when I find it, I’m going to try to post a tiny clip onto my channel with a link so people can examine the issue for themselves. I’ll also try to add it to this post, if I’m not blocked or muted.

Anyway, even if you genuinely disagreed, cursing and degrading members of your audience with incredibly shallow “evidence,” especially for someone of your intelligence was really unnecessary and out of pocket. I was one of your first subs on this channel but I won’t support half-truthers and I promise you that you’ll lose a lot of other fair-minded people who are fed up with media lies and propaganda too if you keep that up. Even if you get rewarded for it by the media overlords, I hope your conscience reminds you of the rotten role you’ve accepted and that you choose not to be a tool for deception as so many in your field have.
And by the way, I’m proud of my team for winning many 8 vs 5 matches despite the toes on scales against them. Alert, knowledgeable, and perceptive people aren’t all conspiracy theorists with “loser mentalities;” they’re usually the people who are unwilling to be blind sheep led to slaughter like most people and it’s a shame if you can’t see and honor that, but that speaks poorly of you, _not them._
My thing is, with his squiggly chart, what was second place in those other years? Another team having a higher FT disparity in a different year proves NOTHING if its not 3, 5 or 7 times higher than 2nd place. Its not just the raw disparity numbers, its how far above is it from second or third place. Jason proved nothing

The "drive to the basket" argument drives me nuts from Lakers fans. Lakers were one of 4 teams to drive to basket less than 40 times per game. They were ranked 27th in drives to the paint, yet they were top 10 in free throw attempts from drives (just drives, not anything else). The other 3 teams that were under 40 drives per game were in the bottom of free throw attempts from paint driving. Lakers are also the 15th ranked offense and 17th ranked defense. They commit the 3rd fewest fouls on defense. The Denver Nuggets are 5th in Offense and 8th in Defense, and commit the 9th fewest fouls on defense.
Somehow in game 1... the Nuggets drove to the basket 30 times, scored 64 paint points and had ZERO free throws in the 2nd half. In the meanwhile the Lakers drove 38 times (really low compared to other teams that actually drive like OKC and The Knicks) and scored 54 paint points, but finished with 19 Free Throws to the Nuggets 6. Somehow the MVP who shot 23 times only had 2 free throws...
This was one of Jason's worst moments and made me lose a lot of respect for his breakdowns, especially with how intelligent and knowledgeable he usually is.

I wouldnt put them that low but I can think of good reasons to put them around that range. Playoff harden and injuries to their star players which is happening right now. I don't believe in the Mavericks myself but it would be hard for me to pick a winner of this series.
