  • The Binturong looks like the mix between a bear, a cat, and a monkey, but they’re more than the sum of their weird-looking parts.

Binturongs can't decide what animal they're supposed to look like, but I can figure out that they're cute!

I’m a Southeast Asian, and I know palm cultivation is not the root cause. The root causes are the human population explosion and the bad system, as well as the bad education there. If we just reject palm oil, the people there will find other plants to cultivate on the land, or even cut down more forest trees for the living.

Why not imprison the exotic animal traders they kill or sell an rare or endangered species and my grandma live in the philipins and he sand me a picture of an marmoset and after two seconds i see this poor animal in a small cage and she send me another picture that was holding a slow loris and its so sad in some places they even don’t care about the ecological system of some places and I think it's much better to cut down a tree than to sell or kill or harm animals and especially those that are endangered.

How many animals are there? I come here just to find out about new animals I never knew existed. This might be the best channel on CZcams.

Hello Animalogic. There's a myth that binturong can transform into a type of female ghost that eats man (women are safe) in Borneo.

Well, that’s funny about the popcorn because it’s actual name “binturong” in Talag-Lut Malay literally means “kettle popped rice from the anus”... “bintu” being a local puffed/popped rice snack made with a black iron kettle over a fire with rice grains popping in heated palm oil, and “rong” being anything coming from your backside, like “Bup-rong” being a poo, “Elu-rong” being diarrhea, and “Papat-rong” meaning breaking wind/flatulence. So “binturong” or popped corn(rice) - ass, is a pretty adept nomenclature for a mammal that makes a savory popcorn-like scent with its anal scent glands.

If you cook popcorn next to a binturong would it become territorial or horny?

Met a couple of Binturong at the Australia Zoo. They look absolutely terrifying, reminding me more of wolverines than cats or bears. But they turned out to be curious and enjoyed checking us out and having a nice scratch behind their ears. And yes, they really do smell like popcorn. :)

Met one of these dudes for my 10th birthday. The sloth was booked so my parents had the binturong come in instead. They really do smell exactly like popcorn! I remember my younger cousin, sister, and I running as it playfully chased us. It even had a little harness on :)
