Check out the candidate for the best budget light. Convoy make great lights. Check this out! This light was lent to me by Darren Yeo. Check out his material here: / darrenyeoyt
The best part about Convoys is how you can pick your LED for the effect you want. Your sample here has the CULPM1TG so it's a monster thrower; I have one that, on the other hand, totes a GT FC40*, so it's insanely floody. *: word of warning, the FC40 is a huge emitter for a reflector of this size, so you get a noticeable color shift between center spot and the lateral spill. I don't mind it but some people might.
Thanks for the detailed info. I love convoy for the same reason, but yes, you can stuff up and get an emitter that doesn't go well with a certain reflector
I carry a 21700, the Felix TK16v2 as a bag light. That’s in addition to my edc which is a fw3a set to momentary. So it doesn’t stay on in my pocket. I have had Convoys in the past. They are actually very well made. Look at the pill. I will likely pick one of these up based on your review. Thanks for the content
Good review and video. i have 6 host of Convoy M21B. I put different led and driver on each host. one of them Sft 40 with 8 ampere driver, smooth reflector, measuring a throw of 593 meter (moonlight in the end of the beam) Its a great light.
@@lakasund I thought about getting M21B too. It uses 22mm diameter driver, right? Would like to put 22mm 6V8A boost driver in there with XHP70.3 HI and SBT90.2 with some mod. At first, I only think about the size, and really like my S2+/3V8A buck 17mm/SFT40 16mm. S2+/6V5A boost 17mm/XHP70.3 HI 16mm would be so cool to have (but freaking hot to use lol). But it just too small and the boost driver that's in 17mm size are only available in 6V5A at most, can't push out the real power of XHP70.3 HI.
@@jnhkx HI ok. I put a XHP 70,3 with a 6v 8A driver in a convoy m21c. its works fantastic good. i can hold the flashlight head after 3 min. it will burn your hands quickly in highest mode if you put it in a M21B host, SBT90.2 works fine in a convoy L21B with a fantastic throw. (over 1000 meter)
The Convoy M1 is the 18650 equivalent of this M21B, it uses the same reflector though, so the head diameter is the same, just the body diameter and overall length are smaller.
Hey buddy, wow what an excellent budget torch, very impressive. Very interested to hear how you go with Aliexpress. Anyways excellent review, keep up the good work, may you live forever, take care = )
I think Convoy is better, they uses no PWM, brightness is stepping down slower and longer time, and then stay and runs the rest of claimed turbo time at higher brightness then ohers brands. Even expensive ones. I've compared M21B XHP70.3 6500K with Sofirn SC33, SP35T, SD05 and Wurkkos WS22, TD02,TD04. The M21B is uncomparable better.
Yes, it was a difficult time then for me and I was never free in the evenings. Especially during daylight saving when it gets dark very late. I was always working during the night.
No, unless you set it to mode group 12 (always 100% full blast, no modes). The head contact has a pin instead of a spring, so any impact can break contact and cause the driver to change modes.
I'm trying to order Acebeam T36 and I can't seem to order one, will this Convoy M21B suffice as a replacement both on the lumens/candela department? I'm fairly new to flashlights.
Yes, it will. For sure! But remember, the convoy doesn't come with a pocket clip. So you will need to find a spare pocket clip that fits if you are going to pocket it.

Thanks heaps Greg. Thanks for watching. Plenty more convoy reviews to come. as well as many other lights
cheers
No frills with Convoy but they do have some awesome throwers like the L21B and L8!
Yeah, i am amazed at the quality for price. I'm still a Weltool guy, but Convoy has impressed!

Besides the SFT40, what other emitters you got?

Oh awesome! Thanks for the message. I'll get a look at the M1
Might as well get the M21B then, because a 21700 light can use a 18650 battery, but not the other way around.

Pretty much. And with the head size being the same, body width basically doesn't interfere with the bulk.

Thank you! My 1st clip, and I subscribed straight away. Like your style! ( ...U r in Melbourne' right? ). See ya!
Thanks brother! Yeah I am in Melbourne bro. Are you as well??
So basically a C8. Good review, but I don't understand why you didn't wait until it was dark to do the beam shots. That is when I use my flashlights.
Yes, it was a difficult time then for me and I was never free in the evenings. Especially during daylight saving when it gets dark very late. I was always working during the night.
No, it's considerably more pocket-friendly than the C8/M21A.

Thank you mate
would this be a viable self defense/tactical light?
Anything with an instant high mode and is pocketable is a viable option for self defence
No, unless you set it to mode group 12 (always 100% full blast, no modes). The head contact has a pin instead of a spring, so any impact can break contact and cause the driver to change modes.

@@flashlightcrazy Thanks brother for the reply, I'll take note of this when ordering and look for a pocket clip appropriate for this flashlight.
XHP50.2, 519A, GT FC40 Which product generates less heat and has a longer usage time?
Probably 519a I would guess
519A if you use lower modes. If you go hard, the XHP50.2 is more efficient. The FC40 is very hot, in exchange for very nice light quality.
Used the led Osram Culpm1 or Sft40 buddy?
Osram
How does this compare to a C8+ ?
Less throw, but more compact to make up for it.
