I used to use an S7 and when it broke, I wanted to fix it. I got the phone so hot to the point where the back adhesive got loose and allowed me to put in my nails and screwdrivers. Since I didn't have the replacement parts or proper tools for that matter, I left it like that with a dead display, weak battery and a faulty motherboard.
NGL it was pretty amusing seeing the insides of a phone. Unscrewing and putting stuff back together felt like I was a child playing with a Lego set. I can just think of how fun PRG's job must be.

I once got a whole phone repair toolkit at a dollar store. Including a really good bit holder and some precision bits including pentalobe. It was about 5€ and works till today except the fact that the smallest flat-head bit got bend when I tried to use it as a lever. Not the intended use, so it's not the fault of the kit.
I really just use this cheap kit, an electric screwdriver with its bits and the tools that come with phone parts. That's all I needed for repairing several phones. I never bought any expencive tools (except the electric screwdriver as a gadget) as the cheap stuff usually works perfectly fine and is of a good quality. The plastic opening tools on the other hand break really fast, but I always use the metal ones instead, as they are better for opening stuff anyways.

When I was a kid in the 80s and teen in the 90s, I had to find ways to get things open because my family didn't have a lot of money to buy new ones, and some things I managed to get were broken to begin with. Nintendo liked their tri-wing screws, other companies like security bits, but I never found anything I couldn't get open eventually with my array of crappy tools at the time. You can buy practically any tool you need now made in China, and it'll probably be garbage, but it's way more affordable now than when I was young. Sometimes it's even cheaper to buy a crap low-quality tool you'll only use once to do a job than it would be to take something to a repair person, particularly when it comes to cars.
