    I would just be concerned about sparks from grinders and welding falling on top of my welder or even the gas bottles. Doesn’t seem very safe in my opinion.

    • @Tim2Wheels
      @Tim2Wheels  Před 4 lety +11

      That's understandable. Many believe that shielding gas (Argon and Argon/CO2 mix) is flammable. However, All Shielding gasses are inert (Non-Flammable). Therefore, there is no danger.
      DO NOT store Acetylene (C2H2) this close. Acetylene (as in an Oxy/Acetylene cutting torch set) is a colorless, highly flammable gas!
      As for the welder, there are no vents on top, so nothing falls into the welder.
      Thanks for the comment and for watching.

      Why would sparks falling on welding gas cylinders be dangerous? Something tells me you don't weld.

      @@PBMS123 it’s funny seeing this again. The time I made this comment I was just learning how to weld and didn’t know anything about the different gas bottles. Needless to say, I’ve learned a lot in a year or two.

    I have watched way too many welding cart videos on CZcams so consider me somewhat knowledgeable - that was one of the best tutorials I have ever seen!

    Great ideas and construction. Thanks. As an occasional welder/fabricator for personal or family use, I think one of the things that has put me off buying a commercial welding table/top with 16mm or 20mm fixture holes is the prohibitive cost of the clamps that are needed. Your design (amongst many other things) allows fixing material with everyday economical clamps. Great stuff!

    Hello, Tim! Such a great video! I'm just getting into welding @ age 70. I'm 7 wks into a 4.5 mo welding course, and am looking @ welders and welding carts / tables. I've seen so many and learned much, but your welding cart/table is now @ the top of my list. I wish you lived in or very near Caldwell, ID, I'd work hard @ becoming a friend. : )

    Muito boa a sua mesa de soldagem, mas acredito que uma chapa adicional mesmo que bem fina poderia ser colocada para proteger a máquina de solda e o gaveteiro das possíveis bolinhas de solda que irão cair entre os vãos da mesa durante as soldagens.

    Future proof your table is the best idea. YOU may not use it but its there is what I say all the time to people? and extendable sliding shelve is great for that extra length of hose. great video.

    Awesome build, only 1 thing i would done differently. I would have used bar stock for the top instead of tubing. That thin tube will warp over time from the heat. However I do understand that "cost is always a factor" so I understand if barstool was not in the budget. As for the ends of the slats. I would have capped them if I had used tubing. Its just a cleaner look to me. I always cap the ends of tubing.

    Ok I'm new to welding and looking a building a table myself , that said I have a question and im sure its probably a stupid one but anyway here goes is there any saftey concern having the welder and gas bottle attached to the table? my first thought was welder over heating or something and or getting a gas leak. again completley new and love the cart thinking seriously about copying it. Thanks !

    • @Tim2Wheels
      @Tim2Wheels  Před 4 lety +1

      I think those are valid questions. Welding gas is for shielding only, it is what's known as "inert gas" which is odorless, colorless, and non-flammable. It is there to shield the arc from contaminants for a better weld. So there is no danger of it exploding. However, I put the tank on the back side of the table and do not weld or work near it. The welder itself does not overheat. All welders have a "Duty Cycle" and will cut off before overheating occurs.
      I find it very convenient to have everything on my cart to roll it to where I'm working. I plan to add a TIG machine on the right side next year.
      Good questions, Thanks for watching.

    49:39 I thought for sure that you would have milled out the side of the outer tube that had the weld seam. Was there a reason that you didn’t?

    Tim, your website appears to not be published yet. Can you tell me the size of tubing used on top and legs? 1x3? 1/8 or 3/16? Where did you get the locking wheels?

      Tim2Wheels, I really like the pull outs and removable top section. I’m thinking I could build a setup for my chop saw to drop on there. Maybe a jig to bolt up for a deck matching height of the chop saw. I too am very limited on shop space.
