Thanks for the video. A tip except for lentils, you should soak dried peas overnight. We never boil dried peas without soaking them and this is the standard method in the Caribbean. The peas will cook faster and better. If you could get hold of some pumpkin (cut in very, small pieces about 1/4 lb), some coconut milk, a little tomato ketchup, 2 bay leaves, a stalk of chopped celery with some leaves, one small chopped onion, above 2 chopped cloves of garlic and green onions into the peas when they are almost cooked, the rice and peas will taste better. Give it a try.
I love black eyed peas.........when I marry a prince and finally become somebody .....I will definitely cook this for him .....he will enjoy this common folks meal. Yummy😊
Very nice recipe! Just one suggestion. Beans can be soaked in the water for overnight. Gets soft and fluff, Instead of cooking on the gas for half an hour!

My Kenyan mom made it like that also.. the coconut gives it just an extra sumthing

Yes, you can use cumin powder instead.
The rice I used was long grain easy cook rice.
